    thank you.

    Great watch. I've had mine now for over a year now. Great display,great battery ,Great comfort, great look and light. My only issue is not so great in the outdoors. You just can't see anything.

    Great review Jeff - I bought one recently and found the display to be not very good in bright sunshine, where the original tag heuer connected has the transflective LTPS LCD display which is actually much better in sunshine, even on lowest brightness setting! I had the amoled display modular 45 set to auto brightness and indoors it looks amazing, just outdoors I found not to be as good. Think it might be as apple found the original sapphire display on its first gen sapphire screen to be not as bright through The sapphire in sunlight, and they changed it to The brighter unit for their 2nd gen. The tag 45 modular is a beautiful watch and build quality, and is as Tag Heuer market it as a watch first.

      I'm surprised you say the display isn't very bright, it's actually brighter than all of the other Android Wear devices I've tested, but I did not own the original Tag Connected so perhaps that is the only one that eclipses it.

    nice review. unsure why comparing to lg sport watch, and not something like the montblanc summit 2? when is 2020 tag heuer smart watch update coming out? and when summit 3?

    Bought one tonight, used via eBay saving myself £400GBP. I am buying it purely because it looks great and already have the Sammy S2, S3 & Huawei first series. I'm not expecting it to be as versatile as the S3 but reckon the Tag is the best looking of the Smart watches available today. if the battery life is poor and the display really is bad in daylight, it'll go back on eBay...!

      May i ask how you ended up liking this watch? Main reason i'm still hesitant is due to the quality of the display?

    Jeff, can you please do a "How to" video, I just tried to play a youtube video on it but failed, knowledge of the best apps etc. I have bought it because I think it will go down in value then go big when it goes vintage like the ZX spectrum and in the mean time I have the coolest toy on the planet. Thanks for the review - oh by the way I think making a rotating side button would be a nightmare for the 50m water resist....

    also you can move light scratches from titanium by polishing it.

  • @rickmartins9135

    Good review. Agree that a programmable button would be nice but the biggest issue for me is no speaker. Haptic feedback doesn't do it for me (mostly miss it kicking in) where as audible notification is perfect. It's also extremely useful to be able to answer the phone with your watch - particularly when you're in the middle of doing something or your phone is in the next room or in a zipped coat pocket! Still trying to convince myself to buy one but just know that even thought the TAG looks amazing, its functionality won't match that of my Tizen o/s Gear S3.

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 лет назад +1

      +Rick Martins Yeah I have a Gear S3 Frontier too, the functionality is better on that and the LG Watch Sport even, but the build display and battery life are great. It's also one of the snappiest Android Wear devices I've used due to the Intel chip inside. It's probably not worth it for $1700 to most people though.

      try fossil, similarly amazing looking watch from a designer that KNOW how watches are supposed to look and feel. MUCH cheaper AND has speaker (at least the fossil explorist 1 does).

    is it worth upgrading my current tag heuer connected titanium with titanium band? I am not someone that changes bands ever, and I don't care for gps either.

    Hi, thanks for the review but what is the dim mode like? After all, that is what the watch will look like 99% of the time. It looked reasonably OK from your review but would be good to get a view on what dim mode is like as I can't find anyone anywhere on the net saying what dim mode is like, bizzare!

    Thanks for the review. Question on the display, if you look really closely whenever u scroll through the apps, or settings or get a bright white screen do you notice horizontal lines? It's only visible when selecting a new screen or are going through the settings and u get that dark/gray back ground color of the OS. Perhaps mine is defective? Thx

    • @jspring86
      @jspring86  7 лет назад

      I haven't noticed it in day to day usage but I can take a look in more detail later tonight.

    • @rkick9151
      @rkick9151 7 лет назад

      The best way to notice is when you clear the notifications so the screen is empty. Turn the brightness to 5 and the left side of the screen will show some very light lines. The lines do not show up anywhere else from what I can tell, so I have no clue. Maybe that's how the amoleds are..

    Lol i heard they stopped responding below -20C in canada if actually looking at it. In just 2-3 mi the miniOLED stops responding and risks damaging. And battery tanks immediately. At -30, we get that for 2 months, kaput in 2 min checking time outside (same for all smartwatches and any smartphone as well) However, my Omega Speed-master Professional, rated to space frigid -80C , no issues lol.

    Awesome review! I just got through my first day with the watch with the same build number as yours and I am not getting anywhere near the same amount of battery life. With the display always on and auto brightness it dropped about 10 percent in the first 30 mins. Switching Always on display off got me a battery drain of about 1 hour idle per 6 percent of battery. Notifications wise I am not getting too many so im not sure whats actually droping the life so quickly. Any insight would be appreciated!

      Ry Reyes you've probably found this out by now but the battery will first need calibrating.. mine wasn't great to begin with, better than some others experienced but I can now comfortably get through the day. The calibre11 forum is a great place to learn more about it and get help from other users... Enjoy the watch, it really is amazing 😊

      i suggest having AoD but turning of gesture wake or whatever, you can still tap to wake but that's MUCH more useful. I always get WELL over 24 hours of use.

    AWESOME review. This is basically teh ONLY review of this watch, and one of very FEW review of wearos watches in GENERAL that do NOT just devolve into talking about wearos/androidwear operating system for the final 70% of the video. I find that HIGHLY frustrating, most poeple looking at these watch reviews are interested in the features of THAT WATCH in PARTICULAR. That's like reviewing the latest macbook, and instead of talking about the new touchbar or usb-c ports jsut talking about how the latest OSX update is like...that's certainly smoething to talk about but WRONG VIDEO!

      it has GPS, though wiht the latest OS update i'm not sure how exacttly it works in terms of in conjunction with the phone's gps, but it seems good enough. (Although i will say i've never used this watch standalone so it's likely also getting gps updates from my phone).

    Jeff i have through the Years Love collecting Watches and Tag Heuei is definitely Awesome Watches and I really give them credit for trying to break out in the Tech industry and I understand Movado and some other's will be following suit.When I first read about it.I was very intrigued and I have to give them credit for trying and I am sure it will be a Collector for sure.As will the other's and I really can't wait to see what other's come out with some very nice Time piece's to have and Great investment .They are also nice to have if you collect over the Years.I have one that I won't mention name but it was all Gold Women's Watch I received as a gift and went on Vacation and just got a new puppy.When I came home he got at it needless to say that no longer in my Collection and that was a Heart Breaker.I'm sure some that come out with not be perfect in every aspect but like I said if they are a Good Company they will help you with any issue's.And Hopefully do the right thing by their Customers.I really enjoyed the Review and look forward to seeing what comes out next.Thanks for sharing all the good and the bad.If I were you I would go get it serviced and cleaned once in a while they can fix it up for you.Good Luck with it and look forward to seeing more down the line with more that are coming out with next.Thanks again Deb

    So you can't pair it with iphone?

  • @donpaterson2397
    @donpaterson2397 7 лет назад +1

    something like this, really needs wireless charging.

    • @TjPhysicist
      @TjPhysicist 6 лет назад

      it's likely that wireless charging would be: a. introducing added bulk, and given how bulky this watch already IS due to the 5ATM rating and the materials used it would be impossibly bulky. and b. basically impossible anyways, the watch back is made from titanium. If you look at PHONES that have and don't have wireless charging metal back vs wireless charging is often an issue, (some people solve it by having a portion of the back NOT metal etc). In general the wireless charging will not go through metal, and again due to the 5ATM rating (which IMO was done to keep with their other watches, even though it is a bit too low considering all thier other watches have 10-20ATM) the back and casing in general is likely relatively THICK, at least thick enough to not allow wireless charging.
      Again it's a design decision they could have made it fiberglass back or smthg, or be like huwei where part of the back is metal and part of it is not.

    Most important feature is heart rate
    .a joke that for $1700 it has no fitness functions.
    i come from mechanical watch background and I wear gear 3 until something better comes out!

    • @TjPhysicist
      @TjPhysicist 6 лет назад +1

      some people don't care about heart rate functions, like me. I'd rather not have whatever added bulk that introduces, and it is SURE to introduce some added bulk. Soem of the price is the brand, and to keep with their mehcanical watches (since you CAN update this watch with a mechanical module, essentially turning it into a regular tag watch, which usually costs like $4000+). The band/strap on this watch is VERY well done, and the clasping mechanism is unique and quite ingenious. It works a bit like metal bracelt buckle, but slides around to adjust size rather than have holes, meaning you can have PRECISE adjustment of the strap size. Since poeples wrist tend to change size SLIGHTLY through the day (yes, it's a biological fact that happens to everyone) this is, i think, EXTREMELY useful.

      @TjPhysicist 6 лет назад

      yes but THIS WATCH has the ability to vibrate to let me know i've walked away from my phone. OH OH, it also has ALWAYS ON SCREEN! i know...SO FUTURISTIC right, a watch where i can tell time WITHOUT having to move my wrist around. adn yes, this is a feature that i use ALL THE TIME. (say i'm carrying a lot of bags or have my hands otherwise tied but want to check the time).

      Totally agree with you, and now since October 2018 they released Huawei Watch GT , which looks amassing and lasts 15 days and has AMOLED and heart rate and many many features
      And costs about 250$ , not 1700$ , I may agree that TAG Heuer looks great but for features and great looking of Huawei Watch GT, I prefer the Huawei 100%
