Cleans set bursts apart imo and how clear sounding that guitar is, I know a guy with a real 58 so I get to compare a fair bit. One interesting thing I've found is making my guitars lightweight using Spanish cedar gets me right into the 58 tone zone, my burst is 7.1lbs non weight relieved.
sounds great it's hard to find a ringer like this and larry is on the right way. many people try to be vintage correct even if they get bad sounding results this is an example of the opposite . i only care about tone. enjoy!
Thanks for the recent history lesson 🎉. I stopped buying other electric guitars almost 20 years ago, so it’s really interesting. I do use Larry’s locking bridges and tailpieces on my LP builds as it’s well designed, well made and reasonably priced. 🎉. Mojo axe makes a nice wrap tailpiece and I prefer a wrap to a abr1. I want to do one more LP in a Strat scale length and get a less trem on the thing so it works for me. Big V neck too🎉🎉 and I’d consider 3 P90s if I can find a good wiring scheme. The funny thing is LPs are my second favorite tied with a Tele.
I have a 59 reissue that I only bought this year.... it has a gorgeous 5A top and I installed the limited production '59 "Series 1, Alnico 4" pickups and it's perfect... and for a 50th of the cost of a real one.
I have Manalishi 056 (as well as a Corsa Pure Player with P90’s) which has a push push pot to change the phase in the middle position.Excellent guitars and the Manalishi does the Peter Green thing with aplomb as well as any other classic les Paul tone you wish.l had an R8 before which was dull by comparison.
Cool guitar. Kind of hard to tell how is sounds compared to your LP based on the acoustic sound, but neither here nor there. EZG for the win for me today!
Am yet to compare them plugged in myself! :P Thought the EZG was a little spiky for the lead parts (how I had it EQ'd + though the Silver Alnico speaker) but when playing rhythm it was mega!!
You are right about the grain filler. I laugh when guys get all holy about nitro on their Gibson. A guy I know refinishes antique violins told me wood filler is suicide for tone. Even nitro kills some. The only safe finish is antique style varnish. A Stratovarius uses varnish.
The Corsa is chambered and you think that the unplugged difference with the Gibson is due to a grain filler thing ? Seriously... (no grain filler and a satin finish significantly reduce manufacturing costs and time, and is simpler to produce.... I would think about it)
As I said in the video, it's a) hard to know how much of that is marketing and how much is hard fact, and b) the grain filler is only _one_ difference between those two instruments...not the one single factor influencing sustain/tone/resonance/etc.
This Corsa sounds really good, may i say better than your original Gibson?
Will you still keep the Gibson now that you have this or just sell it?
I always play my Edwards LTS unplugged , that Corsa sounds resonant and beautiful unplugged 👍
Those pickups sound killer that's a fact.
edit: No wonder they are Throbak's
Some of the very very best out there :-)

Thanks mate - this one definitely sounds mega :-)
Great demo Joe, and very informative. This was the first high end guitar I owned and it bought me a lot of joy. Nice to see it's gone to a good home.
Thanks mate :-) I'll look after it for you!!
Good review. I'm a tele man, but that light weight has interested me. Thanks.
Wow!
That guitar sounds incredible. Really throaty low mids with a nice clear, but not piercing, top end.
Great playing as always.
Thanks mate :-) Yeah, it really growls at you!
Sounds amazing Joe 😮 👌👍
Thanks mate :)

Can't argue with that value for money! :P

Ah amazing :-) Yeah, the Manalishis are stunning instruments for the money!
Loved this one. So close to a real 59' Burst is beautiful. Can't beat the cost too.
Yep - custom shop R9 tone for 1/2 the price (and even less when comparing second hand values!)
