I'm an ex-rally driver (only amateur, from the Group-B era) but can only afford to ride a bicycle these days. I've got no objections whatsoever to car owners doing their thing within the law, and I always give way to traffic and stick to the rules of the road (because as a driver I know how annoying some cyclists can be - especially those uppity f*ckwits with helmet cameras who go out deliberately getting in the way and looking for trouble). But what scares the crap out of me is inept boy/girl racers who should be safely back at home tanked up on Red Bull and playing on a driving sim in their bedroom, not driving like idiots in public. Not only is it dangerous for other road users - especially gorgeous, squishy, fat-bottomed girls like me [joke] - but it ruins things for fellow car enthusiasts. It's not good when you've got drivers spinning their wheels, swerving and 'drifting' (ha bloody ha) around blind bends on B-roads, spooking horses and sending cyclists (and even pedestrians) diving for cover. It gives the police and fed-up villagers all the ammunition they need to shut events down. Note: it's not enough for YOU to know that you're in control and are just brimming with skills and are messing about like a pro stunt driver for the cameras [actually, pro stunt drivers don't take stupid risks, which is why they're pros]; instead, look at your behaviour from someone else's point of view. All we see and hear is a car going too fast, sideways, and slithering across both lanes, apparently out of control and about to snap-oversteer into a ditch, so we have to assume that you're drunk, high, enraged, trying to impress your passenger, or just a moron. I think one of the most shocking things in this video (please feel free to call me a wuss) was at 6:15, when a driver who doesn't deserve to be identified spun his (or her) wheels in traffic and sprayed gravel over the Mercedes behind him (or her). Disgraceful. Now, I'm a rally nut so I don't mind a bit of gravel and have dodged whole forests of pine trees in my time (and even the occasional giraffe), but the thoughtlessness and sheer lack of class of this left me fuming.😠
