- Will TCM kill DBD? There are not many similarities between both games, but both are quite fun. I think TCM is more than able to compete and coexist with DBD but there are still some issues to work through for it to thrive.

yeah i like both games but tcm feels waaaay more relaxing while dbd always feels frustrating because both killers and survivors play with meta builds as sweaty as they can to win at all costs and that is just stressing when you just want to have a couple of matches to just enjoy the game. TCM feels like i wish dbd felt like, im actually having fun playing this game and i can't say the same about dbd.

Texas is just an amazing game. Like wow they did do an amazing job and they also listen to player feedback and the next thing you know it’s been patched/fixed. Developer transparency is huge in tcm and honestly that makes a huge difference. They are two different games however, so honestly no reason to compare them.
Both games suck, R6 is king.

The state of the game is absolutely not in a great place, they "listen" to feedback when it shouldn't even have been feedback in the first place, how did no one foresee the infinite stun lock at Gun? They lost players when they stupidly disabled cross play because they couldn't figure out how to stop cheaters, they're already overcharging for cosmetics and DLC, the base game is 49.99 and the response time to fix shit is not becoming of a game worth that price, I don't care if DBD has worse patches because TCM isn't greatly better for a game that's 20 bucks more.
TCM & DBD are two different games. I get so tired of people comparing the games. They have their own perks by themselves not to DBD nor TCM. Sure they are the same genre of games but they have their own things for success. I want TCM to be successful by itself. BHVR has been slowly killing it's own game even though they have average 30k players but they make a lot of bad choices. So far TCM has been making great fixes and buffs with their game being out. So no more comparing for me. TCM is TCM and DBD is DBD.
I wish but the only ones who can truly kill DBD are the entitled survivors and the developers themselves and it's not looking good. I just think its stupid and harsh how people say TCM will die, TCM this or that like that's just not fair for a game that barely has a month in.
They need a certain character queue. Because the devs said on Reddit they will not have duplicate victims or killers.
And yea cross play needs to come back. Cheaters are so rare now it’s literally inexcusable to have it disabled still after a whole damn month.

I don’t think they should be compared. They should be able to coexist. That being said, it’s really annoying that ps4 players straight up can’t play with anyone else but ps4 players - which was NOT mentioned at all in advertising (ps4 players can’t even play with ps5 players)
a lot of people have the misconception that dbd was first. the Kickstarter for F13 began in 2014 detailing the idea, DBD started production in 2015 and released before F13 but F13 was announced long before dbd making it the original Asym horror IMO.
I think the only pricing issue is that characters are $10 a piece, I understand why they would price them this way but for actual content that does affect the gameplay (and looking at the leaks, the next 2 characters might be very op at launch) I think they should sell them as a base of $5 per character with some sort of cosmetic bundle for each new character costing $10 so that those who just want the character can get it at a reasonable price and those that want to spend a little extra and support the devs can do so.
The one main difference is the vareity aspect of tcm like you never know if the leatherface your going against is running op perks or is running meme perks for example

I like how there's no clear way to win or lose in TCM. There are victims and family members, not survivors and killers. You don't have to survive or get kills to help your team. You don't even need to play with your team, you can do your own thing. While this is somewhat true for DBD, TCM is a lot less black and white.
The main problem i have with TCM is just that xbox one can't play with series X/S. I bought the game, like you said, to play with my friends, but i can't because they have the newest consoles, and i don't.
It's been 3 years, and the new Xbox is widely available. It's just time for you to upgrade. Pretty soon, new games won't even be released on the now 10 year old system.

@killerfishfromsandiego7589 Why should people on current gen and PC have to wait for people on previous gen to take ages to load the game if they get put in the same lobby? A big selling point for current gen consoles is the load times. I can see an argument for current gen players being able to download the dumbed down previous gen version if they want to, but I'd rather not be forced into waiting ages for matches to load considering the wait times to find killers is almost unbearable. Used current gen consoles cost like $200. Just go work a part-time job for 2 days and buy one.

@carter5377 i do work a job. I also go uni, and the majority of my wages go to my accommodation so i have a place to stay.
TCM will always be more fun to me there are more escape options which dbd lacks horribly its been 7 years and no changes to that or other game modes. You can fight back characters actually have abilities there not just a skin with teachable perks. Running away seems more fun and simple not worrying about if my teammates dropped pallets or not. The killers are actually human beings not super natural beings that can teleport or hit you through walls and windows. You don't have to be on a gen for 10 minutes while the killers have all the gen regress perks possible. Like tcm just nails the aspect of fun and the fact that there is game chat and you can play killer with your friends DBD could never.
It's like how people said the steam deck would kill the switch. The fact is that one will never be able to do what the other does. TCM will not give you the DBD experience, and they're different enough that they can both exist simultaneously.

DBD kind of lends itself to versatility since it isnt a like specific license that makes the whole game. The games core story and gameplay makes it simple enough to add in characters from any license. TCM is amazing but you could never see xenomorph or something in tcm
At level 40+ I was getting out in matches with people level 20 and under! I’m not totally sure how that happens. And NONE of them are in a party. Mostly the matches were proper but, how does that happen??

The skins in dbd is purely cosmetic while in TCM they leaked the the victims ability and they're going to be able to keep fuse, valve, and generator open permanently. I only play dbd with my friends anymore. Every time I try a solo que game it’s abysmal and survivors will throw a pissyfit either in game or after. Tried today and a Claud (after I did a gen, got a flashlight save, took chase with nurse and then saved her off hook) chased me around pointing at me and body blocking during chase.
Solo-Q goes against the nature of survivor gameplay. Communication is key, it's the biggest skill factor for survivors, much more important than looping. Solo-Q should only be played casually (i.e., not care about winning) or to improve your looping.
TCM is pretty much dead on Xbox One. Can take up to 20-30 minutes to actually get into a match. When matches do start, it's so UNBALANCED. High level victims vs low level family and vice versa.
Xbox One and PS4 NEEDS cross play.
I thought about the levels, 0-29, 30-59 and 60-99.
With how many different horror legends are in DbD it doesn't mater how dissatisfying that game gets its never dying.

for me, yeah it definitely has killed dbd, it doesn’t have all the licenses but the gameplay is so much more fun to me and it’s fun on both sides, which i will never get from dbd i don’t think, especially not with the community
Tcm killed dbd for me as a killer main lol, feel like you're not always getting bitched at by survivors for not playing the way they want you to because you'll have more killers telling them they're retarded instead of always defending yourself to 4 people. Dbd won't die though because you only need one killer per match and you'll always have survivor players
The thing I like about the upcoming leatherface dlc is that the leatherface dlc it’s that they didn’t just say “yeah give him a new mask and summer clothes with a made up chainsaw” Nicotero came up with lord behind the leatherface outfit and that the new chainsaw that will be released is a real chainsaw from the 50s it proves that yes it’s a bit pricey but they put a lot of effort making it

DBD has been HOT GARBAGE for years now.
In TCM, I can actually escape as a survivor, and actually have fun on the victim side.
In DBD you can barley escape anymore, from the constant tunneling and hook camping, To the meta perks and Disconnects, its just a very very toxic game,
with a very very toxic Community. TCM even looks more appealing, compared to the Playdough Textures that DBD has.
Honestly, it's very annoying when people compare TCM and DBD because of how different they are, and the TCM devs also agree. They said in an interview that they despised the thought of TCM being a game that rivals DBD and that they wish to not let that happen. I whole-heartedly respect and agree with the devs for their view on the 2 games.

to me the diffrence between dbd and tcm is the same difference between tf2 and overwatch, like overwatch tcm is about learning to play as a team where everyone has a role to play, while dbd like tf2, is just fun chaos where you can have nic cage flash bang albert wesker in front of laurie strode's house and then twerk at him.

TCM will not kill DbD. If anything, DbD is more likely to be killed by itself than by any other asym horror game. People shouldn't even be comparing the two to begin with.

I love this game its amazing I fully support tcm I stopped playing dbd for good 2 months . I slowly pulled away from dbd at the start of this year. From playing dbd everyday to playing it every few weeks or months. The devs on TCm personally speak to their community on Reddit they listen and balance when something unfair is going on they fix it. The game is very detailed every victim has their own animation. I love TCM

i dislike tcm in general and i dislike dbd because of it's lack of balance. literally survivors can run all game with endurance effect as if they were balancing the game for the newbies.
I assume DBD is a great game but when that was in prime so was f13, and f13 is infinitely better than that and TCM, i may be a bit biased but f13 was peak and if it wasn’t discontinued then it would likely outshine every asymmetrical horror game to come

I hate when ppl compare DBD to other games, like that one game that just got shut down... the one with the movie monsters and stuff, it was like 90's themed or whatever but, I had a youtuber that I followed b/c they made funny DBD videos where they were just goofing off and spinning the killers all the time but, the above game came out and they obsessed over the new game and start ish talking DBD and they went so hard for the other game I stopped watching them b/c they were comparing the two games SO much. Like yeah TCM and DBD are in the same genre but they aren't all that similar at all and it kinda makes me less interested in TCM b/c of the comparisons.

Honestly all these asym games will get killed by the players, just look at how bad cheating is that a company can't handle it a lot of the times. Hackers and cheaters are extremely prevalent in this genre and will do everything they can to destroy things for their personal fun.

TCM was fun for some hours until you get to the issues. You level up to the point where Leland's hide and then stun you, teabagging, and LF one-shooting you. Map familiarity is 90% of the skill of this game.

People don’t seem to realize that the reason Dead by Daylight is a trash game is because of its design and core gameplay mechanics so it doesn’t matter how much new content DBD gets it will always be trash meanwhile the core design and gameplay mechanics for Texas chainsaw massacre is far superior with better graphics and it requires more skill and strategy u only get one life no 3 hooks leather face can 1 shot u so it’s more exciting to play TCM

the leatherface skin shouldn't be close to half the price of the base game, it should be $11 - $13 at best. It's still just a skin, and as this is the first new content drop, it should be affordable for everyone who is still playing the game after a month (make rapport with a community base, don't neglect them from pay-walls). This goes the same with the new characters, you expect most players to buy $20 for characters? That's insanely priced, they should be $5 for a total of $10 if they're planning to release 1 victim and 1 family each time they drop new characters content.

Its very true that DBD will be the cause of its own Downfall, and I think that's currently happening right now. The game is bloated. There is too much stuff in the game. Too many perks, too many killers, too many maps. You might be wondering why I'm mentioning this. Because this kind of environment won't bring in new players. When you pick up a new game and you've got a mountain of things you need to know, it pushes new players away. DBD will get to a point (probably now) where the only people who stay are the long time players that won't have to learn much when the next new spam of content comes. And without new players to keep it active, the old players will start bleeding off and nobody is there to replace them. That is what's going to kill DBD.
That and the fact that behavior is getting worse and worse about balancing their game and fixing bugs. Even now they constantly want to put more stuff into the game, always simply shoving new killers and perks to bloat it out even further. Basically greed is what is going to kill the game. People have always been asking for quality of life updates but instead we see yet another yearly road map of more shit being dumped into the game. If I started playing DBD right now, I wouldn't have lasted two weeks and would have moved on exhausted at the text book of perks, and killer powers I'm trying to learn.
I realise this may be taken as nitpicking but I'm just gonna mention it anyways because many people seem to forget this game. I disagree with the idea that behaviour created the A symmetrical genre, did dbd make the genre bigger then it was? Yes obviously but to say they created it is a little... I'd say is a bit too hasty to say as there have been a few A syms I believe before dbd released, one of them being Evolve, which for me was the game that introduced me to the genre and despite the game dying which was entirely the turtle rocks fault, it was big enough to leave a lasting impact, and (at least in my opinion) was the game that truly kick started the genre, but my main point is that I dont think Behaviour were the ones who started or at least kickstarted the genre, just to also point out, this comment was not made for hate or anything like that and it also doesn't add anything to rapids main point in the video, I just wanted to state that at the end for the minority of fans that get extremely defensive over the smallest of things.

I'm so tired of seeing these comparisons, it's everywhere, and it's so toxic, resident evil resistance had an asymmetrical game but it was allowed to be it's own, people didn't compare it endlessly because capcom is considered triple A and behavior is indy when compared.
I miss the days where if you like the game that's reason enough to play, nothing more, nothing less, this is almost as annoying as everyone labeling every difficult game as soulsbourne.
Imagine if they did this back in the day, comparing street fighter to tekken, bloody roar with rival schools (telling my age), alot of these games wouldn't exist.
If you like dbd then play it, if you like tcm then play it, that's it, there doesn't have to be something right or wrong with them, they both will have their upsides and downsides, and keeping in mind the purse handles are able to hide and make decisions and roll the devs under the bus, so alot of opinions will be out of pocket by not considering the full circumstance.
I love both games, I've been having more fun on tcm because I can now kill with my friends and the toxicity and fighting isn't as bad.
On dbd there used to be times where I'm in a chat and someone is screaming and raging at the killer, then they dc and log off, I've just learned that dbd isn't the best place to make meaningful friendships for me, it's good for a moment but this happened waaay too much, and lord forbid I understand the killer or offer that me and my teammates take some accountability for our mistakes which made it easy for the killer to bank on, now I'm the talk of the group, so tcm is the first time where it's just been simple fun, we die together, we kill together, it's not trying to meet a quota, I don't feel like it's making crazy promises, I can accept that.
