    While it has been very frustrating waiting for this to hit the market, which is not helped by the lack of news, i believe this will happen. We saw how Tesla faced challenges bringing a car to market. I can only imagine it's much more difficult bringing an aircraft to market. I know that Opener has fallen short of previous predictions of when this vehicle will be available, but I trust they are diligently working toward that end. I also respect their level of secrecy, even though it is frustrating as a "follower" to have so few and infrequent updates. I have subscribed to their mailing list but haven't received even one email from them, which is actually a bit disrespectful of them. But I continue to wait with hopes that this will become a reality. Please share any updated news on this vehicle if you have any insights.

      it flew at Oshkosh a couple days ago. Looked great. They have hundreds of parts in manufacture now with the fusalage taking a long time to build like a week. They hope to open for orders in a month. Yes you can watch it ruclips.net/video/0lm9HdMGBss/видео.html

    Any would-be aircraft without the ability to glide (9 to 1 or so glide ratio) when not under power is unsafe. Even helicopters can be safely landed in the event of engine failure. This thing does not seem to have a much in the way of a wing and would likely drop like a stone.

    • @macrumpton
      @macrumpton 3 года назад

      Redundancy of motors and batteries mean that short of a midair collision this is far safer than most small aircraft. It could also have a ballistic parachute as well.

    BlackFly isn't a flying car, it is a VTOL electric ultralight airplane, it is a breakthrough on many levels . Molt Taylor told me the he realized after building a flying car that it was an impractical idea, the vehicle would be very expensive to maintain, insurance companies would not cover a airplane subject to fender benders and parking lot dings.

  • @phillipzx3754
    @phillipzx3754 3 года назад +1

    The first flying car people could buy was Molt Taylor's "Aerocar," which was for sale back in the 50s. It was a REAL flying car that could be driven down the highway. The used one in the opening scene of the old "Bob Cumming Show."

      This market segment (GA, hobby aviation, last mile exploration...) is hugely underrated or did not even exist so far...I wanted a UL helicopter but the most stable version -coaxial type- is not manufactured at a reasonable cost by anybody...furthermore the training and pilot skill upkeep is mostly not possible for many people...

    Bulky and awkward. Likely to cost 10× as much as an ultralight helicopter or autogyro, without the advantages of range, speed, or height, refueling, or even auto rotation. Doesn't look like it can easily be transported either. This just a dumb gimmick of an aircraft. It's not a car as it doesn't have wheels nor can it drive around on land. This thing only exists as a toy for rich people to show off their wealth. There's nothing even truly innovative about the overall design either.
