I just got the Adam A7V monitors tonight. I bought my first set of monitors a little over a year ago. I had a set of Kali LP6. The Kali were ok, but when I plugged in a played the A7V for the first time I BLOWN away! Huge Upgrade! Couldn't be happier or more impressed.

I've been a light hobbyist DJ for years, learning at first with friends off of someone's pair of CDJ-400s way back and eventually leading to me owning an XDJ-RX2 for the past couple years as part of my bedroom setup. Just this past holiday shopping season, I made the decision to finally go for a setup I've had on my mind for a while: a pair of Rane Twelve MKIIs and a Rane Seventy mixer, to properly get into the turntablism part of DJing. I've got a big year ahead of me for learning new skills I bypassed by starting off immediately on digital club gear, but I'm ready for it.

My biggest upgrade was going from a Pioneer MDJ-350 to a Rane 62. Even with two Pioneer CDJ-350s the world just opened up to me. Multiple cue points, built-in effects that worked seamlessly with software… it gave me the confidence to play out live for the first time.

Just got T7V, cheaper but I like them! For more "fun" sound I might put EQ shelf at 20-80 Hz. Adam makes some really good monitors.

After decades of using budget Gemini and Numark mixers at home, a pal (with no space for his set up) long term loaned me his A&H xone42 (and rane sl3 DVS). Holy mama the sound is lush. I never realised until then how noticeable better a good mixer sounds.

Biggest upgrade for me was going from the Numark Mixtrack Platinum to my Denon Prime 4! I made the decision after a few years because I was tired of the asymmetric layout of the Numark as well as lack of channels for proper 4 deck mixing. Once I got the Denon, I felt like my mixes became fresh and new again and I was able to experiment and find different ways to play the same tracks I was using before.
One day I'll update my studio monitors but for now my classic Klipsch speakers I got from my dad will do the job! Great video as always Mojaxx!

I got the first gen A7s for $500 used. What a steal. The A series is so good for the money. Honestly, you don't need a sub in a small office setting. These put out great bass and rumble, if they are set up right in your space.

I have had the Adam A77X's for about 5 + Years now and they still take my Breath away pretty frequently if i am honest. They just live in my Living Room so not a treated studio i have just positioned them the best i can in relation to furniture/walls ect so not for production just to DJ and better appreciate Music when i sit down and put my Feet up and they fill that role all Day :)

just a few years ago everyone praised the A7. But then the a7x came out and everyone thought it was fantastic and you had to have the A7X. Now we are a few years further and it is the A7V that is fantastic. Assume that this model is also much less than the next type that will be released. And so we keep thinking that the grass is greener on the other side of the hill

Couple significant upgrades for me have been the jump from Numark TT1650s to a pair of Tech 12 mk2s. And after going digital, the jump from a DDJ SR to a DDJ 1000. Both of those upgrades filled me with the opposite of regret.

Wait until you pick up the DJM-S11. It's an amazing mixer. Better yet, don't get that and wait for the next Pioneer Serato battle mixer that has onboard Stems controls like the Rane Four does. THAT mixer is going to be the truth!

I have the A7Xs having upgraded from Rokits. There is a night and day difference in sound quality and separation. They are expensive but were worth it for me. I can't imagine the A7Vs went backward. This was the most impactful upgrade I made. Going from the DJM 900nxs2 to a zone 96 would probably be the next most impactful.

Everyone should try these monitors to hear what a quality speaker sounds like and what their ears can hear. Once you hears the A7V, there is no going back, the cheaper speakers will sound like cans, even though they sounded good to you just a moment ago. A7V have such a honeyed, neutral sound, it's a balm for the ears and if you listen to them in the dark, it's like the performers are sitting right in front of you.

Denon 2x Sc5000ms and the X1800 mixer. My first set of turntables were Stanton Str8 100s so I never had belt drives. The SCs blew me away with what I could do with all the bells and whistles match with the mixers integration to recognise the decks.

I have a couple of big setup changes. But most of them are very typical that most dj's go through. But there is one rather unique. I bought the mixing in key software. I used to mix harmonically by ear. but that takes a lot of time to prepare a set. Then I sort of used various dj software and how they recognize keys. From which I thought that recordbox did a pretty decent job. Then I bought ''Mixed In Key'' software and I realized. I was so incredibly wrong. Because they analyzes everything perfectly. And you discover all dj software gets it wrong a lot. definitely worth checking out.

So are we saying the A7Vs would be great for studio use, DJ practice / rehearsal at home PLUS actually listening to and enjoying music (almost in a in a hi-fi sense as we can adjust the sound); if this is the case I need a pair NOW. Also - my best DJ equipment upgrade was going from an old Pioneer 800 mixer to A&H / Playdifferently (will see what replaces the DJM900NSX though and audition that too). Thanks for all the videos!

Most impactful upgrade? I learned to DJ on an iPad because it was what I could afford. I guess the most impactful upgrade was switching to Mac. The Mac is such a powerful and much more flexible audio performance machine! The iPad’s software, external display and controller support, and port selection at the time had been really holding me back. That’s why my laptop is a nice Mac even though I only use it once per week now!

I have the Adam Audio S3V monitors for home listening, and they are amazing! I can see why some sound engineers don't prefer them, tho, because of the goofy software they provide and the delay to get equalization. I'm sure there's a work-around for professional work. I just equalize using Poweramp Equalizer through my Android phone.

Definitely in my 1st place Genelec 8030C Active Two-Way 5" Studio Monitors. 25% cheaper than the A7Vs, but no onboard dsp.*
2nd- Sadley ditching buying vinyl. **
3rd acoustic treatment.*** Best bang for buck improvement you can make apart from measurement microphone and free software for laptop based DSP (Latency negates dj use as Mojaxx says)****
*Genelec 8330A SAM Two-way Monitor System is there DSP version of 8030c is similar price to the Adam. But does not go as deep. 46hz vs 40hz @-6db.
The Genelec 8340A SAM DSP Two-way Monitor System 38hz @ -6db is the next size up, but has minimum listing distance for summation of the drivers is at 1m
, possibly to close for some/most dj set ups and is almost 2x the price of the Adam A7V
**I have a 3rd highly modified 1210 with Origin live tone arm with cable, new feet, power supply, platter mat, audiophile Goldring 1042 cart (which sounds better but cost 4x of my standard 1210s) Digital with a cheap $100 SMSL DAC (or Topping DAC) is far better sound quality again and massively cheaper and allows you to save for audio upgrades as you are not buying vinyl.
*** The physical volume/ coverage of acoustic treatment matters, you actually need quite allot of it. Can be hard to do without getting a divorce if in a living room the GIK acoustics are great performance/price and are safe to use as they cover the glass or rockwool with a latex covering. Diy glass/rock wool versions are hazardous to your health. Fire resistant foam acoustic treatment may be hazardous due to the dust they create (mine create dust)
****minidsp UMIK-1 measurement microphone with Equalizer Apo and CamillaDSP software are common tools for laptop based dsp
Good resource for active speakers search google: active-speaker-recommendations-for-usa-by-sweetchaos.
The only cables that make a measurable vs psychoacoustic difference are tonearm and possibly the different shielding on some XLR cables or Starquad XLR if you are having EM interface or ground loop problems. Otherwise, it is a con and waste of money

as a PC dj I've got mk2 but they're 20y old and most of my vinyls are gone I mostly kept the color or picture ones everything else has been digitalized 2 upgrades behringer HD400 will remove all noise from your PC and an open source app equalizer APO for windows it's not only the most powerful equalizer ever you want a 22'000 bands EQ every 1Hz ? you can do that it also takes VST plugins can be used for various filters must have for windows and A7V will be me physical upgrades as Rokits 5 G4 failed again...3 of them now I'm done they sound great but they all break over time
