To take a word "rape" and own it, then triumph over it, is truly inspiring. Connie Francis received a huge ovation that night at Westbury because she deserves nothing but love and respect. And that Miss Francis is what your fans feel for you. Bravo.

Being the long-time fan club president for another famous singer, I was able to meet Connie Francis when she was appearing in Chicago. After a remarkable concert, I was admitted backstage. The first impression for me was how tiny she is! Beyond that, she was totally down to earth, very conversational (she asked if I knew where her group could get some great Jewish deli food and I told her and she told her secretary, "Call and tell them 12 people are coming but don't give me name." She turned to me again and said, "I don't mind if people see and want to talk or get an autograph but I don't like a big fuss being made because I am going." Like almost everyone I have met in show business over the decades, she was very bright, very articulate and someone who clearly had achieved amazing things in her life.

She's so intelligent and insightful. I wish we could press life's rewind button. I know what she meant about the audience being with her regardless of the state of her voice. I was at 2 of the London Palladium shows in Nov 1989 when Connie had throat problems. She bravely completed the shows, and received standing ovations,I think because the audience were thanking her for the fabulous past. After such a traumatic life,I suspect Connie will have fluctuations, but she knows her real fans are loyal.

This was an intense and so emotional interview. Thank you for posting all three parts - an incredible rarity and a glimpse into how Connie did her best to cope with what happened to her. It's a shame that the bi-polar illness caused further trouble for her after the comeback. But it is evident from this interview that she had successfully dealt with the rape. Again, thank you for posting this.

I had not seen this since it aired. God Bless this woman. Unless you have had to cope with so much hell in life, you should not judge others. I am just THRILLED she is still alive, I just wish her WELLness"
