PS5 pro will be the first Playstation i will not buy. No disk drive is a deal breaker my Playstation is my blue ray player and as I believe my current console is dying i will replace it with a slim not a pro
@@C0smicr3aper fat ps5 with disk drive I get artificing in games some games like shadow of the tombraider wont even load i have factory reset rebuilt database renewed licenses etc there are many examples of the issue on the internet though mine is not as bad as some I've seen
You're right. The OG pS5 is the more premium looking. It's been that way with every gen. The launch system is always more expensive to make and it reflects in it's design like the PS3. The following versions of that console were stripped down removing features to keep costs low.🤷
People said i didnt know what i was talking about when i said the ps4 to ps4 pro was a bigger leap… like, the ps4 pro was doing something that was never done on consoles before… higher resolutions, 1440p and 4k, AND at a respectable price. The ps5 pro isnt doing anything new… its just slightly enhancing features we already have, at a much bigger price gap. But im crazy lol
I have been playing around with the Pro for a day now, installed the drive, stand, got all my PS4/PS5 games loaded and tested, and I absolutely love the Pro, and the added storage. Money is no object and for me, I say money well spent as I am a console only gamer and needed to replace my launch digital PS5 as back in 2020 could not find a disc PS5, and it allows me to retire my PS4 Pro since many of my PS4 games are physical. It probably is not needed for all gamers but I am fine with it.
I did the exact same thing. I upgraded my digital day one PS5 from 2020 for the pro ps5 and got me a disc drive, and im in love with my ps5 pro and my dualsense edge pro controller
Returned the Pro, went back to regular PS5. I don't see the value right now. Debated on keeping it, no disc drive included, only option to buy a disc drive is at scalpers MSRP. I will buy it again when the time is right.
Have to respect the hustle. What Sony did was genius. They want to steer people away from physical media. Step one design a console refresh, a ps5 slim that is digital with the option to add the disc drive that comes in the box proving it is a digital console by default. The optional disc drive is tacked on, making it look out of place unlike with the original ps5 that had the disc drive built in. The ps5 slim and the pro look better without the disc drive. In Fact the optional vertical stand looks better when used with the ps5 slim and pro when the disc drive is not attached. This is step 2😂 It looks more sleek and symmetrical when the stand is used with the digital version of the console. That is the way Sony marketed the console and how they intended the system to be used. By pushing people towards digital by making the digital version look more attractive and appealing they make money from game sales. I salute them. For me however, the slim and the pro actually make me appreciate the OG design more since it came with physical media in mind with its built in dedicated disc drive. The drive is naturally part of the system and not tacked on. It comes with a stand that can be used in horizontal and vertical mode. The OG black stand suits the OG ps5 better when used vertically, looking symmetrical. Consider the marketing for the slim and the pro….whenever you see pictures of it with the silver vertical stand, it's typically pictured at an angle for good reason. If shown head on it would show that the attached disc drive obstructs part of the stand on one side making it appear lopsided and not in the centre of the ring beneath it.🤷 The reveal of the slim was what pushed me to rush out and order the OG design model with the built in disc drive because I didn't want to be stuck with the the slim design as the only version I could buy brand new. The point I'm making about the vertical stand is addressed here in this video ruclips.net/video/uZv723UFGDg/видео.html
It's still early days for the PS5 Pro, the majority of patches coming out are very minor, in my opinion probably to generate sales of the games. The PS4 Pro was a bigger jump granted, but the jump to a PS5 from a PS4 Pro was not much in the beginning either due to how Sony had utilised the capability of the PS4. I have the PS5 Pro and quite a few games that are enhanced for it, most I cannot see much of a difference, however, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a big jump. I bought the game but could not play it due to low frames and poor graphics, now with the enhancement of the PS5 Pro, this is a major jump for me. Over the coming year, the games will get better and you will see a difference. I have a PC with a 4090 and a balanced system to go with it to get the most out of it and the PS5 costing a fraction of what my PC cost me does a very good job running games and is optimised really well.
seriously who cares about the disk drive? CD's are a thing of the past thank god for digital ....inserting a CD to play the game is such a primordial thing these days, CD's get scratched, get lost, they collect dust if unused, use up space... why would i want to do that to myself ?
I have been a ps fanboy since the original psx, never touched another console after that. After 20+ yers of gaming on ps and countless games owned in the library , im happy to anounce that when my ps subscription ends (jan 2025) i am stepping over to PC, im sick and tired of being Sonys cash cow (first through subscription prices going up, and now because they release something thats not even worth calling a pro version and charging waayy to much). I am currently playing on a RTX 4080 on geforce now fro 56 euros AND i do not pay to play online...
You can't get a disc drive in Australia either. More are coming. But maybe not till 2025. So I bought a slim last week with a drive on special. Coming from a ps3, the 5 will be a nice upgrade. Plus the pro is 1200.00 AUD. Will wait for the 6 or 7
I walked into my local Smyths last Saturday & picked up a disc drive, £100 like, but easy to get. Online it said out of stock for click & collect at the store but it was in stock.
Yup. Just like The music industry now mainly is on streaming platforms and The CD is more or less dead. Physical gaming will follow The same fate in The next few years.
There is absolutely a bigger jump between the ps4 and ps4 pro than there is from the ps5 and ps5 pro. That's why I got the ps4 pro and why I'm not getting the ps5 pro. In someways the pro is actually a step backwards😂 I say this because out of the box I could put a disc in my ps5, watch a movie or play a game without even going online to register my disc drive and with the ps5 pro you have to buy the disc drive separately🤷
Or they could have mandated you have the disc drive with the PlayStation 5 Pro by including it with every PlayStation 5 Pro and charging you £800 as opposed to £700, and no doubt there’d be a group of people who’d inevitably complain about that. I guess it just depends on which way around you want to complain, forced to have it and therefore forced to pay for it and complain about it, or not being forced to have it but being given the choice to purchase it separately and complain about it
Will drop this here about my serious concerns in terms of quality PS5 Pro. The bottom plate of the heat sink has a CNC witness marks on the surface!? As most people probably know this side must be flush for best heat dissipation from the processor. This is a big red flag. Imagine you buy a new CPU cooler and the bottom of it is not perfectly smooth? 😂
The verticals stand only looks good on the consoles without disc drives, bear that in mind. It looses the look of Symmetry when using the vertical stand with a disc drive, making the console look lopsided because the disc drive blocks part of the view of the stand on one side. You're welcome😉
The PS5 PRO is interesting but the problem is that the disc drive & stand are separated & also its to much expensive & also the Pro also if your interested to add an SSD card to add more memory even if the Pro is already a built in 2tb, id be honest if person try to buy a Pro with stand, disc drive & add some portable charger for the controller & some external SSD card for extra memory maybe the total of it all might be $1000 or more all in all... this is to much
i have PS5 Pro I'm happy with it, PS5 Pro not going to WOW you but for the FPS does great job on me FPS side. I just wish Sony put more CPU power on the APU & 24 gigs of ram to the system to make the games even run better. other then that get PS5 Pro if you can.
The great thing is that unless you live in a country governed by a brutal dictatorship that has a weird penchant for holding a gun to your head or knife to your throat and forcing you to purchase extravagant consumer electronics then you don’t have to purchase this, and so there’s no need to complain about it. Like the disc drive, it’s completely optional and it’s YOUR CHOICE as to whether you spend the money on it or not. What next, complaining about the cost of a brand new super yacht whilst also being someone who either can’t afford one anyway or can afford one but just doesn’t want to spend the money on it
These consoles are going to price themselves right out of the market and just become third party game publishers. If the PS5 Pro is over $800 with a disk drive and stand, plus another $200 for online access, expensive games and only a single store front. How much is the PS6 going to be? $800 for digital only? At that price point, you might as well save up a few more hundred and get a decent gaming PC, where parts are upgradable, repairable, free on line access and cheaper games. This is my last console purchase. I feel like they are just ripping their customers off now, for an inferior product. Even though I have some discretionary money and I have a non-gaming laptop for work, a IMac for personal use, Xbox series X and Rog Ally extreme for gaming. When it’s time to upgrade, I’m just going to get a decent desktop gaming PC. I really don’t like the anti consumer direction the consoles are going in especially Sony.
Now that im thinking about it… why didnt sony just lower their storage from 2TB to 1TB and sell this for 600 u.s.? Thats kinda how you know this thing is a scam lol
I bought it and I’m sure it kicks ass. Xbox is in trouble. All games look better with or without ps5 pro official enhanced patch. Good job games look a lot more immersive. Also you can’t see the difference on RUclips videos even on a 4k tv you got to see it in person
Cut it out dude, all the “pro” enhanced games look blurrier than they do on the base ps5 😂 and xbox isnt in trouble, idk how you console fanboys come up with these things with a straight face lmao
Save your money, coming from an 8 hour a day audio and videophile, this console is not worth the money, all these supposed updates are BS it’s just pssr messing up the image for 80 percent of them. I’m not impressed. It’s going back
Thats what im saying lol all the “pro” enhanced games look a little blurrier than the base ps5 versions and i was thinking it was because of that pssr upscaling.
@ yeah, granted it’s hard to tell when you don’t have another tv and ps5 next to you, but atm the whole things mark cerny said about, we don’t want you to choose between graphics options… it’s total BS as atm the only graphics option I’m still choosing is performance mode because fidelity is the exact same. Ff rebirth works fine as it has the option … ANOTHER CHOICE 🤣🤦♂️ versatility mode, stellar blade has another 2 new graphics mode… pro and pro max! So wtf is cerny talking about. For a man that didn’t want us to choose between the standard 2 he’s already added another 3 graphics mode names. So now we have fidelity, performance, balanced, pro, pro max, and versatility 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ so much for eliminating choice ey
@@OTDECK yeah i see exactly what youre saying smh. Still ended up with all these different game modes lol… and its funny you brought up REBIRTH because people love pointing at that game as the “this is why the pro is so good” comment, but this is a game that shouldn’t have looked so blurry on the base ps5 in the first place so that one example doesn’t cut it for me. And stellar blade is an UE4 game so idk why the devs didnt give us a VRR mode for it on the base ps5 because im sure it can handle frames higher than 60 with vrr.
@ ok man hear me out, Iv just gone to get my base ps5 out the box and set both ps’s up on my tv. I know why I havnt been liking it. I get it now and see what it’s doing. It’s basically giving you fidelity mode upscaled picture in performence mode! Iv just used dragon age as an example and the difference is night and day!! I thought you would get to use fidelity mode with 60!! 🤦♂️🤣 what a rookie error no it’s fidelity like picture in performance mode I can see it!! And yeah I 100 percent agree with you ff shouldn’t have been so blurry on base! I’m just gonna see what silent hill looks like compared to base to confirm this is correct
I can confirm the pro is supposed to be used in performence mode it does looks better, and runs better on silent hill but it’s not a night and day. Performence mode definitely looks better regardless on every game

It's not worth the sacrifice of the disc drive. To pay $700 and not have physical media is a bitter pill to swallow. Maybe if Sony eventually offers a disc drive version I'll consider putting the money down. I'm not paying separately for it.
