As someone who made the game we definitely think it should be played in 2024 :) Thanks for the lovely video! :)

Wow, I didn't expect to hear from the Game Creators! Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to watch my review! I am looking forward to play Alwa's Legacy next and then checking out the latest game you are working on 'A Void Hope' when it releases!

Maybe me, but short height tapped jumps seem hard with Switch Pro controller.

I get what you mean-short height jumps can be tricky with the Switch Pro controller. Have you tried in handheld mode?

So glad you finally got around to playing it. Alwa's Awakening and Alwa's Legacy are some of my favorite games! Absolute hidden gems that more people need to try.

So am I Nicholas! Did you enjoy Awakening or Legacy more? I'm going to dive into Legacy ASAP! I agree, I know a lot of people missed Alwa's, myself included so I hope more people give it a chance.

@@thunderstashgaming So I think you have to think of it like thinking the difference between Legend of Zelda NES to Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past SNES, or Metroid NES to Super Metroid SNES. I think Alwa's Legacy did exactly the same way in terms of what a sequel should do for a franchise. And while based on that Legacy is probably the better game, I Started with Awakening, much as I started with NES before SNES so I just have a soft spot for the original. I recommend both games.

Ok, that's a great reference and one I can completely understand. The first game I every bought was Zelda for NES and I distinctly remember the jump from Zelda to LTTP as well as Metroid to Super Metroid. So with that said, now I'm really looking forward to Alwa's Legacy!

I just finished monster boy and the cursed kingdom and it was the most fun I've had in a long time. It took me 40 hours to finish the game and find most of the equipment and upgrades. I'm playing alwas awakening which is a nice little game after a huge gnarly game. It's a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to playing alwas legacy.

Congrats on finishing Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom! It's such an amazing game, and 40 hours is impressive! I felt the same way about it-it’s just packed with so much charm and adventure. Alwa's Awakening is a great choice to follow up with; its more relaxed pace is perfect after something as epic as Monster Boy. You're in for a treat with Alwa's Legacy too! I enjoyed both of the Alwa games but I think I enjoyed Legacy more so hopefully you do too!

No not at all, the game just happened to have come out recently and faded into nothingness. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Hey VideoGameLovur, thanks for your feedback! It looks like there might be some confusion-“Alwa’s Awakening” actually came out in February 2017, so it’s been out for a while. In my review, I mentioned how much I enjoyed the game and why I think it’s still worth playing in 2024 despite being both an NES and PS4/Switch game too! If you have any specific concerns or thoughts about the game, I'd love to hear them! 😊🎮

Would be nice if holding one button and pressing the jump button gave the game character the smallest height jump.

That’s a great suggestion! It would definitely be helpful if holding one button while pressing jump could give a smaller, more controlled height jump. It might make the gameplay feel more precise and responsive. This is the type of great feedback official game testers usually give!

C'mon man. Of course it's worth playing in 2024. The game isn't even a decade old.

Lol without making my title too long, I kind of meant that with the amount of quality Metroidvania' titles that have been released since Alwa's Awakening, does it still hold up compared to other games that have released in the genre over the past 7 years but I think I mentioned that in my review. I had a great time with Awakening and looking forward to playing Alwa's Legacy next!

Solstice for NES is also a very obvious inspiration for this game. Check it out if you've never played ti, you play as a largely defenseless wizard who does a ton of weird platforming using carefully combined abstract shapes.

    • @thunderstashgaming
      @thunderstashgaming  9 месяцев назад +1

Ohh man I totally forgot about Solstice! Yes, I played it back in the day but it's seriously been ages It's one of those games I played as a kid and remember now that you mentioned it but I never revisited the game. I feel like I gotta check that out now just to freshen up my memory of that game.

@@thunderstashgaming I had it as a kid and have lots of memories of solving the same set of puzzles before not knowing what else to do. It's a really ambitious game I had a lot of fun with, and Alwa really tugged at a lot of those experiences.

Alright, I know your not trying to sell me but I’m sold now on playing it and looking forward to it now. Thank you for mentioned Solstice to me, I truly haven’t heard that games name in possibly a few decades. 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

Sweet video, it is good to see some NES games available for current generation consoles. Looks like a nostalgia trip for NES fans. I'd pick it up too if the backlog wasn't too big, my next Metroidvania style game I'll play is 'tails of iron'. Happy New Year Steve.

Thank you MichaelJ! I agree, it’s really cool to see a game release for the NES and current gen consoles! I have Tails of Iron in my backlog for PS5 so please let me know how it is. Happy New Year Michael!
