What a wonderfully beautiful piece of Hoover history it is one of the neatest machines I’ve ever seen and I would love to see the restoration process of it. You always do such an excellent job, putting all that hard work into every one of your videos you put on your channel
It definitely doesn't look good but hopefully with some tender loving care it can be brought back to life. Still a piece of Hoover's History! Wonderful job Roger!
Wonderful machines, yes heavy, but quiet and powerful. I thought they had a fairly long run . My Aunt t had a mint green o e back in the early 60s, I have an orange one that the manual was If printed in 1976.
I remember using a brown one to vacuum the stairs when I was a kid, but I didn't know what it was until this video. My mother thinks they got it as a wedding gift in 1968. The vacuum is long gone.
Morning Rodger, I remember my Grandmother having one of these that ended up stored away in the spare bedroom as she preferred her Hoover Junior or Hoover Constellation. I remember that the hose and tools where white not grey. Was this not the norm?
I remember you got a blue one a few years back, and there was one left in my grandmas house from the original owner and she gave it to me like 3 years ago! Lost all the tools but it has auto rewind
Is the Hoover Slimline vacuum cleaner just as powerful as the Hoover Portable vacuum cleaner? I've heard that the Slimline also has the same motor as the Dialamatic too.
Yes Roger- I hate sharks - so glad you didn't have one of those in the box! There's a couple of people I know with these hoover portables- like them very much -very interesting!
I am reluctant to give you an answer because what works for me may not be suitable for you. I have ready answered you regarding my choice of vacuum and I recommended Sebo. I personally would go for a Sebo Felix Pet.
I review Shark vacuums but I don’t use them on a regular basis. I don’t rate bagless cleaners personally and have always preferred the clean dirt disposal of a bagged machine, especially one that has good build quality and isn’t made in China.
The top model is around £350 but lower models in the range can be found for about £280. I can guarantee a Sebo will last a lot longer than a Shark, so buying a better machine in the first place will save money in the long run. amzn.to/420LCfg
It’s an underwhelming design compared to the space-age spherical Constellation and Celebrity with their ‘floating on a cushion of air’ nimbleness… those were lovely in form and function. The Portable seems to be a concept that nearly works but just falls short of being a neat design…
A modern version that is lighter and quieter with bigger rear wheels would be ideal for homes that don’t have much storage space. The Portable weighs a ton and takes effort to pull along behind you.
No, it’s an official UK version, though I am expecting delivery of a US version this week in much better shape. Hopefully it will have survived the journey.
Thank God we no longer have any vintage 70s vacuums in Walmart in the USA anymore! We're still obsessed with our well-known Bissell Powerforce Helix, which has now been redesigned with a push button to release the dust cup, a bottom trap door to empty the dirt, a short crevice tool, a single function dusting brush, a slightly different extension wand, smaller width handle, and filter design, as well as a removable lower cord wrap, and cord storage on the back of the unit, but it did sound the same as the first generation helix did, when it first came out!

Very sad looking Portable. Hopefully it can be restored to its full glory.
My mom had this cleaner back in the day. I remember it well.
Quite a small footprint when you see it in context of a person… how very avocado, like a 1970s bathroom!

Your Model 2106 in Light & Medium Willow Green matches the US Model 2100 and the CA Model 2102 - the first ones made in 1962. Great vid - thanks!

Hose is short and the teeny swivel castor doesn’t make it manoeuvrable, but 840w. Quite powerful!
I had that cleaner. All the attachments are white not grey. At least my factory ones were all white.
Lovely machine, has a nice patina to it too

Funny thing I remembered, when I got vacuum bags for it, it was so old that the vacuum man gave me bags for free
Sounds very healthy
There are some things I really dislike about my Shark duo clean lift-a-way vacuum cleaner
It’s very high maintenance
Brushroll/filters
nice video that is a really nice hoover

I’ve never owned a Slimline, but I expect it has the same motor so it should be as powerful.
How many Hoover's (sorry vacuum cleaners) have you got now on your last count?
I had the American version of one of these the handle was so brittle it snapped as I picked it up😢😢..
Have you made an update video on this Hoover Portable all cleaned up?
Yes. ruclips.net/video/CKyUbbBlZUU/видео.html

@@ibaisaic thanks that’s all I wanted a suggestion from you. Where do u rate shark vacuums.

@@ibaisaic the sebo gets good reviews. Must be brilliant at picking dog hairs up. It’s just so expensive lol 😂

Wait a second someone had the same accent since the commercial

It's called patina :)
Nice cleaner Roger, was it a us import ?

Is the yellowing nicotine stains?
No, if it was nicotine stains it would come off with regular detergent.
Soon you’ll have to clean it roger

Wow very heavily used machine.
Don’t use without the bag!
