Perfectly rated if you asked me. Getting him too famous would pull him towards the cliche tropes that Superman and Batman are stuck in. The creative freedom which he got from Vertigo is what made him so good. He only got that because he was popular among occult magic fans. Not to say that I don't like seeing him in other media or him playing Batman like a kid.

It was on a bad network at a bad time, and bad advertising caused it to have poor viewership. Most didn't even know it existed. The animated show on CW has more viewers than the tv series did. Sad too, because it's easily better than any other DC show aside from Legends of Tomorrow (in which case Constantine is now a main character).
Well, shitty character design is part of the shitty animation when the characters in questions are animated. DC used to have great animations but the last years it's really gone downhill - all the characters look almost the same, their movements and facial expressions are off, and the detailing makes them look ugly. My opinion, obviously, but I find it hard to believe anyone would compare this animation to the Justice League cartoon and consider this to be superior. They try too hard to look realistic and the result just comes off as wrong.

An animated movie can therefore never be separated from its art. If the art is bad, then the animation will unfortunately be bad as well. I get your point, but you're nitpicking. If the animation was less shitty, I'm pretty sure they would be capable of making two characters with the same model look different. But they don't, because the animation is too lazy.
