If you want lots of pictures sent to your phone set the delay to 5 sec and the multi shot to 1 that way every 5 seconds a picture will be sent. As for the notifications on your phone mine works really good and you can turn those notifications on or off in your phone settings.
It shouldn't. If it still does try a different card, if that doesn't work it might be the camera. Also some cams won't accept a card bigger than 32gb, or even smaller for older cameras
Nice video Jase and great review! I'm a huge Tactacam fan, and how two cameras but I'm thinking for me a bit too complicated! I'm technologically challenged. But the quality of the footage even at night is simply amazing!
No, you set up an account and pay by the month to Tactacam. They automatically bill u unless you stop it. There's different plans to pick from depending on how many pics you want sent each month
@@JaseOutdoors is there an option where it just takes photos for free like with spypoint you can get 100 photos/month For free for the months you’re not hunting
I literally just changed the batteries two days ago since this review! I had the cam set over a run so it's wasn't taking a ton of pics but I'm pretty happy with the battery life
The app had 1 update in which they fixed a few things, like now you can scroll through photos. As far as notifications that seems to be working just fine. There's still a few more things that hopefully they're working on
Debating on this or the stealth cam I’ve had the Spypoint link micro did not like it was warranted 3 times same thing always happened would work for about a week then just stop sending pics is the camera still holding up?
I’m new to trail cameras. I’m wondering if you can tell me if it matters which data carrier (Verizon or AT&T) I select when purchasing my camera? I’m told that the new property’s area in Ohio I’m hunting this year the home owners cell carrier is AT&T. However, I live in Maryland and will use the camera in Ohio from Sept - 3rd week of Nov. Then use it here in Maryland where Verizon mostly have the better connection over my cell phone’s T-Mobile and AT&T.
I've used this cam in Verizon cellular. I've got no complaints on my end. Pictures are great connection moderate where I hunt, sometimes I get a almost full picture ,sometimes I get half only lol but still no complaints. As for going in to check on cameras, you will eventually will have to go back, replenish batteries lol especially in a cold region like MN so no complains on my end. Verizon is the way to go, or don't go at all.
I've had it out over a month now, about 5 weeks, and it's still going. So I don't know yet how well they do for a lil while yet....at least I hope. Hah
Yea, and when using lithiums the battery gauge always shows full, until they die. So it's hard to really know. Also I have it set over a run and only getting like 3-5 pics per day.
I just ordered one, in case the Cell-Link fails......For $99 it's worth a shot.....I have a expensive Ridgetec Lookout Dual and I'm so happy and impressed with it
Have you any feedback on battery life yet? My camera would be 3 hours away and I really don’t want to be swapping out lithium batteries every week or two. I could buy a solar panel for it I guess but still want to know about battery life. Thanks
I'm still running the same batteries since I did this review. So battery life seems pretty good! Although I do only have the cam set on a run and it's only taking a few photos per day
I bought one Tactacam Reveal Cell Camera and it worked out of the box so that was a huge improvement, and $13 a month for the unlimited pictures, awesome. Huge benefit in my opinion that you can plug in an external 12 volt battery, then I put a solar panel on the 12 volt. I rebooted my phone after down loading the APP and I get audio notifications when picture comes in, I received 160 pictures of wild pigs the first night. For the $100 cost of this camera I believe its above average for a cellular camera. The biggest issue for me is trying to find more of them, everyone that list them has sold out.....Time will tell if it will be robust.
@@MayITutchem413 click on the camera icon at the bottom. Then select which camera. St the top right there is a menu buttons that are just 3 vertical dots. Select that and scroll down to settings. Once you make your changes it'll tell you that I takes 24 hours to change. Hope that helps
I haven’t experienced the issue of the lag in photo transmission alerts that you have. I get them instantaneously. Another issue you mentioned is the multi-shot, we have several other popular brand cellular cameras that offer the multi-shot feature and they also only send one in the multi-shot series. I would be interested to know if you know of a brand that does send all of the multi-shot photos in a series? On the photo scanning, if you pinch and zoom into a photo, you have to bring it back to the original size to scan to the next photo. That is also pretty typical of most apps. We have been extremely happy with the Tactacam Reveal cameras...easy setup, great photo quality, and reliable cellular service and transmission of photos. Not to mention, you cannot beat the price on a camera that is well advanced in quality.
Yep, they are pretty darn good and the app has updated since this review and has gotten much better. The one thing I found that send multi shots would be the Cell-Link by SpyPoint. That sends all the photos if you're brave enough to spend money on SpyPoint. Thanks for the feedback!
i have 2 of them the only problem i have with them is that you cant delete the pictures or the notifications on the app it gives you the option to do so but the pictures will not delete can anyone tell me why
So I bought two and I can say I’m absolutely impressed with it for being a $100 cam. Great night shots and the trigger speed is awesome. The only thing I don’t enjoy is the price for the unlimited with two cameras, that hurts a little lol.
Kelvin Ward, for the two cameras I run, it’s $25 a month with the Pro plan. One is $13 and the other is $12. They give a dollar discount with the second camera.
Hmmm... interesting. I don't actually know. Most cellular cams can still be used as a trail camera when you stop the monthly payment, but being this one you can only change the settings on the camera through the app it might not work. I'll have to look deeper for an answer to this. Sorry I don't have a better answer
No reason to really...it runs separately from your cell phone service, so you can have any provider...just pick the cam with AT&T or Verizon, whichever service is better in your area, then you pay for that plan via the app. Very easy to setup!
An update for the reveal app came out today that will allow swipe left/right functionality. This is a great camera and worth the money. I hope the next app update includes the following: 1. Add horizontal viewing of photos within the app. 2. Add a "Select All" checkbox to delete all photos quickly. 3. A feature to send/force camera to take a picture on command. i.e. A button in the camera detail you can press and it will send back a pic real time. Overall satisfied customer. Great camera, great price. Hard to find in Houston, Tx. I had to order from a dealer in Arkansas.
I agree with everything you listed! I'm sure they'll have it a lot better soon. The camera is working great so that's the most important thing right now
@@JaseOutdoorsI couldn't agree more. This review was awesome and why I bought two cameras. The three app improvements I listed are useful yet minor. I'd buy again.
Absolute #1 issue to me is no audio (ringtone, etc) notification when motion detected and pics received. At 3:00 AM I need audio to wake me when pigs walk into my trap. I also don't like that it can take up to 24 hours for a change made to the camera settings through the app to take effect. I greatly appreciate the fact that it allows you to do this (like changing delay between pics from 5 minutes to 1 minute) remotely but really? 24 hours? On the good side it takes less than a minute for notification on your cell phone that a motion event has occurred. However you MUST have good cell reception (2 or more bars) on your phone for this quick notification. If your cell signal on the Tactacam is really weak, say 1 bar, you can replace the paddle antenna with a Wilson Electronics 311125 antenna. Boosted my Reveal reception from 1 bar to 3 bars. Note that you MUST also use an SMA Male Plug to RP-SMA Female Adapter between the camera and antenna. Both are on Amazon for cheap. Once all are attached together protect them from rain with heat shrink tubing or tape as it WILL leak. Also, unlimited pics for $12 a month is a bargain compared to other cell based trail cams.
Yep, good points. I'll have to look into that booster you mentioned being I have some spots it won't connect and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip!
In regards to the latch not having a lock, I took my python and with the extra slack went around the tree a second time and ran the pyton cable around the front where the red led is. This prevents someone from getting access to the SD card & the Sim Card.
Case Rocker was it the 6ft lock. See link below www.amazon.com/Master-Lock-8417D-Adjustable-Locking/dp/B01JRWFRIG/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=python+cable+lock+for+trail+camera&qid=1599661133&sprefix=python+cable+&sr=8-4
Just ordered one today, for 100$ your not gunna get the best but all the other cellular trail cameras under 200$ I hear are junk. I’ve heard great things about this one no it’s not a cudde back but it’s not 400$. Good video
@@JaseOutdoors Isnt this so you can say ONLY take pictures between say 6am and 6pm..? Where the camera will ONLY work/take pics between the times you set? or am I missing something? Cuz i cant figure out how to get it to send pics every 2 hours.. Only 12 or 24 hours
@@bradhendrickson7067 yea, working hours. I was wrong. Set the time you only want the camera to work, say daylight hours. I cannot find a way to have it scheduled to take pictures. I wish there was at least a "take pic now" button, but maybe these things will come in the future with firmware updates
I believe they said somewhere that they will release a security box sometime later this year. So until then I'd just use python lock and try to get it up higher in the tree. Makes it pretty tough for someone when they can't reach it, plus it's even harder to find.
I like them 6 or 7 feet when I'm at an area that doesn't have other hunters , but 9 to 10 feet when I'm worried about someone taking it. That way they can't reach it and they'll have to come back with a ladder. Gives you more chances of catching then, especially with a cellular cam. But let's face it, no matter what you do if someone wants it bad enough they can get it. I've had a friend who actually had someone cut down the tree to take his cam. Pretty sad
Very nice review and I subbed. I have a question. You stated that the camera will not take the next picture until you receive the latest picture? Example if camera takes picture at 3:00 pm and I don’t receive it until 5:00 pm I will have missed anything that goes by camera for the two hour delay? Please clarify and thank you in advance.
I seems like it won't take the next photo until the photo taken was sent. It's typically between 20 - 40 seconds. It could take longer to come to your phone which doesn't matter. Just matters that the cam sent the pic to the server. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Why the F would I want the second pic out of ten? Chinese made that up I’m sure. I’ll look for a follow up vid before grabbing one. The cell link turned out to be a turd. I’m about burnt out on cheap stuff brother. Thanks for the honest review. Keeps me coming back
Thanks bro! I'm told they are working on and update and hopefully that's the one thing they fix, is sending more than the second pic. The app definitely needs help. It's not a bad camera though. Takes really nice pics
I'm not very impressed with the picture quality of my cell link. I'm using a wildlife innovation camera that took great pictures last year without being hooked up to the cell link. Being hooked up to the cell link the pictures are very grainy. The camera is only 4 steps away from my mineral lick. I've got a full signal and the picture resolution set to high( I also tried medium resolution no difference).
@@donaldtownsend3789 Cell-Link will send low quality thumbnails until you request a high res image that you have to pay for. It's like $5 for 50 images. Try that and see what it does. I haven't gotten that far cause my SD cord adapter is faulty and waiting for a new one they allegedly sent.
I bought 3 of them and I’m telling you they are amazing for the price!! They out do all of the other cell cameras I have even the more expensive stealth cams and the picture quality is unreal, I will not buy another camera
Jase Outdoors yeah I mean the way I look at it your paying 99$, if it only sends the second picture in a rapid shot I’m not concerned because it’s still better than a 150$ camera that doesn’t send you any at all, also if you set the camera to 12 mega pixel it will not lag and still comes through crystal clear, if you set it to 24 expect it to have a small lag
Jase nice job on the unbiased review. I appreciate that. I would have same issues you did. Hopefully the quickly improve the app etc. as they go..Shoot straight.
Great review. I had about $500 in hunting stands, trail cameras, etc stolen last year. This year I am going with a cellular camera if nothing else but to get evidence of dirty thieves!! Thanks!! I haven't even looked at them yet but how is the battery life doing? And does it have the ability to hook up a solar charger or external battery pack? Thanks again!!
Thanks for watching! Yes it does have solar abilities and they said that'll be available later this fall. I've been running this cam ever since the review and the batteries are still holding up. The battery indicator isn't accurate when using lithiums. So hopefully they'll last a few more weeks! Hope you can catch the bastards taking your stuff!
Nice review man! I just purchased two of these and they were a breeze to setup and run. I live in a pretty remote area in TN and these work great. I returned three Cuddeback Link cams for the Tacta cams. the Cuddeback's wouldn't even pickup in an area where my cell phone had two bars of 4G LTE. Again very nice review! keep up the good work. :)
Appreciate that bro! Yea, I'm still enjoying them and hopeful for an app update soon but the cam is performing nicely. Wish I could say that about the Cell-Link
@@redneckfarmer6584 yep, exactly. Just got off the phone with tech support yesterday and they said they are now finally sending me a new one, 3 weeks later. I feel like the lid that closes on the wire eventually cuts the wire inside and prevents it from communicating with the card
@@JaseOutdoors I think I'll stay away from the cell link. I'm on the spypoint group on Facebook. It seems like everyone is having problems. I do believe they are coming out with a lock box for the Tactacam but if I'm correct, I believe it's around 30 bucks. Seems a bit steep. I live in an area where they'll just cut down the damn tree to get it. Thanks for watching!
App has gotten a bit better with things like being able to scroll through photos now. Nothing major yet but I like this cam so much I went out and bought two more
good review but why do you need it to send them all so fast. are you going to run out and shoot them right then or is it for letting you know there is deer activity. Its not a burglar
So would the cam still send pics when your phone had 1 bar and the cam had 4 bars? I’m wondering if the all or nothing signal will still transmit at 1 bar. My woods are 1 bar or no reception on my phone. (Verizon).
Yea most of my spots are 1 bar on my phone so with that big antenna it has, it seems to pick up more bars. As long as you have 4G and 1 bar this cam has been working great so far for me
My camera won’t connect. Just says searching then nothin. It’s connected to my app and phone has 3 bars. Any guess why the camera won’t connect? Ty in advance
Just make sure the antenna is screwed on enough, other than that I'm not really sure. Tech support has been pretty good at responding to my emails with random questions so I'm sure they'll have a better idea. Let me know what the problem is when you figure it out
These look like my snyper hunting products cellular cam which are completely Trash...ill be looking for a review in the future hopefully there still performing good...thanks for the reviews..they really help
@@JaseOutdoors I've never had an issue with my other low glows. Even the mature bucks just walk right by it, but I do like them from a not getting stolen at night aspect.
Great review. I got 2. My app was slow at notifications but it seems it has started sending them faster. The last couple were sent with in a minute of pic.
Last night I received 2 pictures within the same minute. This camera is new to me, I've only had it a few days. But in guessing cameras that send video eat through batteries....I very happy with this camera...I sceptical about the durability so I bought the extended warranty from Bass Pro...but so far it's been expectations.
Still on the fence with purchasing one.. I want one for trespassers on my property. Are you maybe not getting a notification immediately since you were in the app(like the facebook app will not give me notifications outside the app if I'm currently using it)? Have you tried closing out the app and then seeing if it sends you a notification right away?
I have tried that and it still takes a bit. I'm sure that'll get better in the future but for the price of these, I wouldn't hesitate to get more at this point. I just want to see if it holds up without any trouble for awhile. One downside to using this cam to catch trespassers is you'd have to find a clever way to hide the huge antenna and camo the camera somehow. I was going to try camo tape to see if it would mess with the reception or not
@@JaseOutdoors how long is a bit? If it's a few minutes I'm not too worried.. I just don't want to get the notification hours later... if within a few minutes or so that would allow me time to get to my property

@@JaseOutdoors hmm.. I think I may pull the trigger. That's not terrible, and I was just reading a thread on archery talk where a guy complained to tactacam on the delays of pics and they told them they're working that into an update... that was about 4 days ago.. it's a new product and they seem to be responding to peoples complaints by actually trying to make them better.. sounds like it's a winner! If I hate them at least they're not expensive.. thanks for the info and video!
I believe they will make the cam even better with firmware updates at some point. I still can't believe how good the pics are from a $100 cam! If they can work out a few bugs I'll def be getting more
Just wondering, if the "lack" of cell strength on your phone..is compried of background programs/apps running...??? The Cam, is only running one program.., so, "might" be a case of the Cam's dedicated signal to send and receive is stringer. Just a thought...not a cell tech guy, just a hunter....
Possible. I know that area has always been tough on cell service even with other cellular cameras it was weird though the first try it had no signal and then I backed up five steps and had full bars but it is sending me the photos so that's all that matters. I just have to check to see if it's ending all the photos.
I'm using 3 Spypoint cellular cams for security, so the faster I get alerted the better as the RCMP are at least 10 minutes away... I'll wait a year before I try one of these as it may take a bit to get the bugs worked out....Did the camera ever alert your phone after wards to pics being captured?....Thanks for the great review...
Good review. As far as the LED glow goes, if we can see it, a deer can see. Like u said, to eliminate deer seeing it, just hang the camera human head height and deer will less likely look at it
Did you make sure the app had full notification permissions on your phone? What network is your phone & the camera? Also did you say it won't take another picture until one is sent?
I think with this technology the way it is theres no reason to not have the no glow IR. Looks like it takes good pics. My spypoint spylink doest send very good pics. I have it on an 8mp covert black camera. Maybe I need to put it on a bigger mp camera?
It does take really nice pics! When it sends you the photos the resolution gets squashed anyway, but keep it on a higher MP if you like to pull the cards and keep the photos. I set mine on 12mp
@@JaseOutdoors Yeah im off topic, but my spypoint cell link pics are bad. Im wondering if I stick it on a higher mp camera if it will send better pics.
Does the Cell-Link have good reception? I don't think it's matters what MP the camera is set at because it sends like a 2MP thumbnail image until you request a high res images.
@@JaseOutdoors It seems like it has as good as my phone does. Like we talked about before, the batteries are still on 100 percent after 3 or 4 weeks too.
I got the Verizon version. I couldn't believe I had full bars when I only had one with my cell. Like I said it almost didn't seem right. I'm still messing with em
Jase Outdoors I love mine they have been sending pictures all day and the trigger speed is unreal, it caught the front of the farmers truck , I was blown away
I don't have great reception so it usually takes at least a min or two. I've only ever formatted the card in the camera so I'll have to give a long format a try
My experience with low glow is no problem except with bear. Deer are curious and even nose up to the cameras. I had to buy metal casing for my cameras after bear tried to eat three of my cameras. I am hopeful there is or will be a metal case for the Tactacam Reveal.
Are you using AT&T or Verizon? I have a Verizon one out right now and wanted another but I could only find AT&T in stock at scheels so I ordered it. Hopefully the cell service works as well as the Verizon does. Thanks for the great review
Jase Outdoors, I’m really thinking about trying one of these out. Have you had any issues with it yet? I just know how some cell cams will work fine and then completely stop a week later.
Great review, subbed! Love my cameras but I I’m wondering if you know any way to improve the thumbnail photo you get from the app. Mine seems more blurry at times than other pics I’ve seen.
I'm hoping that in the near future they have at least a high res version we can download like most other cellular cameras. But yea, a very low res is sent as a thumbnail. Shouldn't be too bad though
It gets everything that walks by for the first pic, after that it can miss. I've seen that over and over. It seems like once it takes the first photo if doesn't take the next photo until that photo is sent, which depending on reception it can be 30 seconds or more. It's my only gripe about the cam besides the app.
Really considering picking one of these up as my first cellular cam, I’m just worried because where I hunt, service is very spotty (it’s either one bar of 3G or 1x....rarely one bar of LTE), do you think it’s worth taking the chance, since it is only $99. And from what I see, others have reviewed very highly of it too. I only hunt 5ish minutes down the road from where I live so pulling the card wouldn’t be a big deal but kind of trying to avoid having to do that....
I'm expecting it to send me photos when something walks in front of it. Only thing that could use improvements is the app and it already got better. The camera itself is pretty dang good, especially for the price point.
I personally do not like low glow Leds. I did a test a few years ago where I set two cameras up, one camera was on video with no glow LEDs watching the second camera with low glow Leds. When the low glow LED camera was triggered buy a buck you could clearly see that it noticed the low glow LED camera. The buck stopped then slowly backed up and left.
My son and I just got two today hes fired up but it seem difficult and no video but u did a great job explaining it
Thanks for watching! Good luck with em!
Do you find that deer can hear the camera when it snaps a picture?
Nope, don't think that would be an issue
On the app my pics are blurry. Are yours?
I wouldn't say blurry, but they are lower quality. Still plenty good to see what's in the photo
@@JaseOutdoors that’s true. Is there any way to download them on your phone to put them in higher quality?
Only if you go pull the SD card. That's one thing I wish they'd upgrade to the app to have a high quality download option, like what SpyPoint does
If you want lots of pictures sent to your phone set the delay to 5 sec and the multi shot to 1 that way every 5 seconds a picture will be sent. As for the notifications on your phone mine works really good and you can turn those notifications on or off in your phone settings.
Yea, but that doesn't seem to happen.
If I don’t format a card could it tell a camera no sd

Yes, this is the best one I've tested so far, especially for the price. I also wanted to get more and had a hard time finding them!
can you view videos on the phone just like you can pictures or do you have to bring sd card back and load to computer?
The cam does not send videos so yea, you'd have to pull the card or view them straight off the camera
At first i didn’t know you could change your camera settings on the fly either via the app but i discovered today you actually can
They didn't make that very easy to discover but certainly a nice feature once you find it
YES THE LAD LIGHT. HAS MADE DEER LEAVE. WAS GETTING PICTURES FOR A WEEK NOW NOTHING FOR 2 WEEKS NOW
How do you make changes to the camera settings in the app?
How do you aim it, with the screen inside ?
Guess, then wait for the pic to be sent to your phone. I don't know why trail cam company ever put the LCD screen in the lid
i have 2 of them the only problem i have with them is that you cant delete the pictures or the notifications on the app it gives you the option to do so but the pictures will not delete can anyone tell me why
I don't have any trouble deleting photos, so I'm not sure how to help ya there. Sorry
So I bought two and I can say I’m absolutely impressed with it for being a $100 cam. Great night shots and the trigger speed is awesome. The only thing I don’t enjoy is the price for the unlimited with two cameras, that hurts a little lol.
It's is a nice lil cam! Yea that does hurt!
I’m thinking about purchasing 2 of these cameras too. What is the price for 2 cameras on the unlimited plan if you don’t mind me asking?
Kelvin Ward, for the two cameras I run, it’s $25 a month with the Pro plan. One is $13 and the other is $12. They give a dollar discount with the second camera.
Will it still take pictures and save to SD card if cell plan is turned off?
Hmmm... interesting. I don't actually know. Most cellular cams can still be used as a trail camera when you stop the monthly payment, but being this one you can only change the settings on the camera through the app it might not work. I'll have to look deeper for an answer to this. Sorry I don't have a better answer
Can i use a sim from a different cell provider?
That's going way beyond my testing and I really have no idea. They do have Verizon and AT&T versions. Sorry I'm not much help there
No reason to really...it runs separately from your cell phone service, so you can have any provider...just pick the cam with AT&T or Verizon, whichever service is better in your area, then you pay for that plan via the app. Very easy to setup!
An update for the reveal app came out today that will allow swipe left/right functionality.
This is a great camera and worth the money. I hope the next app update includes the following:
Yea, I ended up buying two more after I did this review. I really like them! And they are sold out everywhere
Yea, you can change the settings on the cam from the app but it doesn't always seem to work. That's something I hope they're working on
You should receive all of the pics. Led should not glow.
Maybe their next cam will be capable of those things, but pretty good start for a pretty affordable camera
In regards to the latch not having a lock, I took my python and with the extra slack went around the tree a second time and ran the pyton cable around the front where the red led is. This prevents someone from getting access to the SD card & the Sim Card.
Nice, thanks for sharing!
What type of lock did you get for this camera? I would love to know so I can order and do the same.
@@kward1911 I used a Python lock by Masterlock.
Case Rocker thanks

Just ordered one today, for 100$ your not gunna get the best but all the other cellular trail cameras under 200$ I hear are junk. I’ve heard great things about this one no it’s not a cudde back but it’s not 400$. Good video
That's exactly right, it's not the greatest but for the price it's pretty good
Does this camera give you the ability to send pics at a certain time and frequency?
Yes, in the app under settings there's an option that says work timer and you can set whatever time duration you want
Although I haven't actually used it yet so I'm not sure how well it works
Sorry for the misinformation
Great overall review! Hope they can take the feedback and update the firmware so it sends all of the photos not just one of the series
Thanks Jeff! Yea, hopefully they'll work on improving a few things, but overall it's still working nicely!
Any recommendations on a security box so someone doesn’t swipe it? Thanks
I believe they said somewhere that they will release a security box sometime later this year. So until then I'd just use python lock and try to get it up higher in the tree. Makes it pretty tough for someone when they can't reach it, plus it's even harder to find.
Jase Outdoors I heard you say that in the video, when you say high, are we talking 6 or 7 feet? Thanks again
Jase Outdoors I understand now. Thanks for the quick response!
Appreciate your support!
Btw.... what happened to your Cell-Link?
I'm not very impressed with the picture quality of my cell link. I'm using a wildlife innovation camera that took great pictures last year without being hooked up to the cell link. Being hooked up to the cell link the pictures are very grainy. The camera is only 4 steps away from my mineral lick. I've got a full signal and the picture resolution set to high( I also tried medium resolution no difference).
Jase Outdoors wouldn’t send to app. I took it back. One minute it was 2 lights and then all of them. From the house.
Just an app update and they'll be perfect! But yea, even now for the price it's hard to beat
Lol, true! That's what I set the cam on also, 12mp
Jase nice job on the unbiased review. I appreciate that. I would have same issues you did. Hopefully the quickly improve the app etc. as they go..Shoot straight.
Thanks man! Yea I'm sure it'll get better as it's their first attempt and it's a pretty darn good cam for the price
You might have mentioned this, but can you set up the photos to send in batches to your photos or at certain times of the day?
Yes you can set the app to send phone once every 12 hours or every 24 hours...and of course timely
@@JaseOutdoors safe to say you're not impressed with the cell link. Card cord problems?
@@redneckfarmer6584 yep, exactly. Just got off the phone with tech support yesterday and they said they are now finally sending me a new one, 3 weeks later. I feel like the lid that closes on the wire eventually cuts the wire inside and prevents it from communicating with the card
@@JaseOutdoors I think I'll stay away from the cell link. I'm on the spypoint group on Facebook. It seems like everyone is having problems. Stay away from spypoint, BAD customer service
Yep.. horrible
Will the tactacam mount to your swivel mount? It looks like in your vide it has a threaded insert on the back of the camera.
Yep, it has two 1/4 20 threads to mount it. One on the bottom of the cam and one in the middle on the back, which is really nice!
Very good review! I'm thinking about getting one of these. In my area cell service won't be a problem, but theft could be. I would have to try to conceal it or something!
I do believe they are coming out with a lock box for the Tactacam but if I'm correct, I believe it's around 30 bucks. Seems a bit steep. I live in an area where they'll just cut down the damn tree to get it. Thanks for watching!
look into a product called Spy High out of Montana. Great setup for getting your cams up in the tree
Yea, I've done a video with them 2 years ago at the sportsman show. That'll certainly get u up in the tree!
So how has the app improved? Do you still like this camera?
App has gotten a bit better with things like being able to scroll through photos now. Nothing major yet but I like this cam so much I went out and bought two more
good review but why do you need it to send them all so fast. are you going to run out and shoot them right then or is it for letting you know there is deer activity. Its not a burglar
Some people like to know when they use the cams for security reasons

Appreciate that! Hopefully the app will continue to improve, but still isn't terrible
How hard is it on batteries
I've only been running it a week, so that's my biggest question also. I will update the description when I burn through the first set of lithiums

Who cares about the alert time. What are you gonna do? Teleport to your stand.................wtf?
It's more about security so if you're watching something it's nice to know right away....wtf?
Only thing I wish it would send videos clips.Less than a minute it sends pictures to my phone.
Yea, maybe someday that will be possible

The difference is in the long external antenna on the camera vs. none on the phone.
Yea, a cellular cam should get a little bit better signal cause of the antenna so if your phone has any signal the camera should too.
Yes, and they already had a firmware update and it's performing a lil better now!

Good review. As far as the LED glow goes, if we can see it, a deer can see. Like u said, to eliminate deer seeing it, just hang the camera human head height and deer will less likely look at it
That's what I like to do
Did you make sure the app had full notification permissions on your phone?

Thank you!
Do you know if this misses any photos? Or is it getting everything that walks by?
It gets everything that walks by for the first pic, after that it can miss. I've seen that over and over. It seems like once it takes the first photo if doesn't take the next photo until that photo is sent, which depending on reception it can be 30 seconds or more. It's my only gripe about the cam besides the app.
I'm picky, your to picky

Are the photos in the video from your phone after being sent or are they from your computer straight from the card
A camera hanging on a tree without any batteries in it will spook deer

It's always best to format first in case the cam doesn't recognize it, but most times it does
Should always format cards, if you have a laptop do a long format also, takes several minutes but worth it
Never have formatted my cards would that explain my problem of 2 of my cameras saying no sd
Each camera handles it differently, but definitely format the cards and see if that works
I have not had the IR ever disrupt the deer at all.
I've had it still connect and send pics on 1x. So it might work for ya
I think he's expecting too much for the price point of this camera
I'm expecting it to send me photos when something walks in front of it. Only thing that could use improvements is the app and it already got better. The camera itself is pretty dang good, especially for the price point.
Nice review but why does it look like ur wearing a manzier or a bro.
That could make a good video showing how deer react to glowing LED's. Maybe I'll try that next year. Thanks for the input!
You are nit picking, this is a great camera for the money. Maybe you should get you a 500.00 camera.
