I think it's pretty interesting... the standard issue firearm for the Black Mesa Security Force is a 9mm semi automatic handgun, but on the training course, however, you shoot the M4 carbine?
I think they were literally just too lazy or didn't have time to change the hazard course from the original game. Hence why Calhoun is handling an MP5 (or M4 if you have the HD textures on) just like Gordon did.
@MtwContent no, if the player is wearing a HEV suit, he/she can use the HEV charger but since Blue Shift wears regular armor, they can't use the charger.
in decay you find out that the training room is realy damaged after the cascade! and if you play opposing force you also can teleport in to the training room!
I remember playing half life decay (the 2 player spin off game) and we had to go through the training area but it was not for training the area was badly damaged after the cascade.
This is seriously just the HL training course but with a different holographic assistant. Even the latter's lines are nearly identical with those of the original. It's *so* similar I wonder why Gearbox even bothered. Rather disappointing considering the Opposing Force training level.
One thing that confused me, in the regular Half-Life, you have the power armor that can be used with the chargers and they don't bring it up, in blue shift, you have a helmet and vest and they bring up the HEV charger for the sole purpose of going "Fuck you, scientists get power armor, you get shitty Kevlar and a god damned hat."
Yeah, it's clearly video game logic: players of Blue Shift (who presumably all played HL previously) might get confused as to why the HEV chargers no longer work, particularly if they didn't actually pay attention to the whole Gordon-having-a-HEV-suit thing in the first game.
@flatiou well there all the same character its confusing but one of the barneys you see in the original half life says he will get you a beer when the days over later then mentinoed by the barney calhoun you see in the second hal life game thats wh I say one of the barneys
i have blue shift along with half life & opposing force but the improved graphics are not working its just using the standard half life 1 gfx ny1 kno y this is happining?
Opposing Force and Blue Shift were developed by Gearbox, not Valve. I do agree though that this is pretty much pointless given how it's practically identical to the original game's tutorial.
Blue shift has so many flaws. 1:Too Short 2:No custom training course 3:Not really any custom weapons 4:At the beginning of regular Half Life, barney had his gun and his flashlight, but in Blue Shift, he doesn't have is suit or his gun OR his helmet. 5:Theres a hidden chumtoad before the disaster. 6:It's just flat-out gay. I know all this and I've never even played it.
The chumtoad is an easter egg though, there's no way to "normally" come across it except by screwing around. But yeah it's easy to see why players, having gone through the original game as well as Opposing Force, would consider Blue Shift rather underwhelming.

That's why I like Blue Shift alot.
@linkmaster2207 this only happens in the training course, when you're at the elevator, the screen will notify you that your weapons will be removed.
because they're the same. just remastering it with high quality audio and darker picture of the video
The best thing is that the reverbs in the game are processed in real time..
never mind, just follow the path around the training area

rofl
