- Welcome! These musical clips are from a large video collection that is now being converted from VHS/Beta to digital. There is some viewing quality loss from the original video source due to the age of the tapes, but the performances are preserved and still a joy to view. I'm finding many lost performances from vintage R&B, Soul, Pop, Broadway, Cabaret and other performances. This channel will be the Ed Sullivan channel for the digital generation, something for everyone to enjoy. Many of the performances will be seen for the first time since they were originally televised. I will be adding many musical performances from a variety of sources that I hope you will enjoy. Who noticed Ms. Dionne directing the musicians as she slay those high belts while seated and legs crossed🤣🤣🤣🤣. Epic!!!!!
Dionne didn’t do power ballads much like her younger cousin did, but man was she more than capable. That was simply breathtaking. She & Whitney had the same eyes and bone structure and often times the same mannerisms. You could really see Whitney in Dionne when she finished the song. Park & bark, a mic & a light, no one can do this style of singing today.
Actually, she did many power ballads in her live concerts. Also, you see Dionne in Whitney, not the other way around. Whitney absorbed Dionne’s performing style as much as she could.
I agree with Chris, a young Dionne was belting here there and everywhere! She's not only capable, she did it!

I know Whitney was so proud of her cousin. That was magnificent. Every great singer has that one amazing song that transcends decades and generations and THIS is that song for Dionne Warwick.

Dionne is a far better singer then Whitney ever was. She started out alright but she never had the legs that Dionne had. I"ve never seen a live performance of Whitney's that matched this.

Classic - one of kind - superb - unequaled ... nothing does Dionne full justice in describing her talent - I love just watching how she works the fingers of her left hand while she's singing, every part of her engaged with the music and performance - sublime!
Carson loved having her on, and always gave her 2 songs and sometimes 3, which was unheard of on the Tonight Show, because she never phoned it in. She brought it. In the history of the TS, her performances rank on the all-time great list.
From that first note, that audience was her. We have loved her from the beginning. Limitless Talent! Bravo!

Wow! A live performance is always the best. And when a singer of her caliber makes those variations in a live performance like she did here, you can really understand how the singer is just as important as and equal to all the 'other' musical instruments at play. Woweewoweee!
