- This is the 358/2 Days version of Cavern of Remembrance, but the instrument samples are all derived from the GBA version of Chain of Memories.
Due to technical problems, this version has no percussion, but I think the song works perfectly well without percussion.
Note that this audio is presented in 16-bit resolution, whereas the GBA would output at 8-bit resolution which is filled with incredible amounts of noise. I could have crushed the audio down to 8-bit to fit within the GBA’s hardware limitations, but I think the GBA’s 8-bit DAC is just terrible for sample-based music.
The original song was composed by Yoko Shimomura. Disney owns the copyright to the Kingdom Hearts franchise, including this composition and this image, but it is unclear whether they own the copyright to the instrument samples used in Chain of Memories.
This actually sounds really beautiful without the percussions
This arrangement evokes feelings that are similar to some Silent Hill 2 tracks.

I think it’s the reflective melancholy, audibly looping string samples, but primarily the piano. The piano has a similar resonance to the piano track in both Maria’s theme and Laura’s theme.
In a more spiritual sense, the crunchy audio reminds me of SH1. But the melancholy reminds me of SH2.
I was also binging everything tangentially related to silent hill when I made this comment.. so.. there’s some bias here and there.
Cavern of remembrance is my favorite kh2 song by far. It is mesmerizing.
Takes me back. Shimomura's music always manages to feel surreal and ethereal. It transports you somewhere else
Put in this soundfont, it reminds me a lot of Aquatic Ambience from Donkey Kong Country

This suits The World That Never Was honestly. It’s gotta a sort of solemness and despair to it. Like the world was left bleak and unattended, left to perish and crumble, ultimately being forgotten. And yet, it’s preserved perfectly throughout time.

I like how Sora Mickey Donald and Goofy stand out so much compared to the rest of the characters in the selection screen.
Equip them glide and wqtch em "swim" through air.
358\2 is a gift.
And probably the best this series ever produced.

@@ryyyyyyn Critical mode didn't help the vast majority of players who were looking for a balanced difficulty and remind is a paid DLC separate from KH3. With only 9 worlds, about as many cutscenes as gameplay (took me 21 hours to beat the game and there are 10 hours of cutscenes) and a story only growing more nonsensical when it should be wrapping up... I wouldn't say it sucked, but it was definitely disappointing, even without the 14 year gap since the last major installment. Here's hoping KH4 at least allows you to adjust volume settings

@@repeekyraidcerothis isn’t the days version, it’s the kh2fm version with gba audio quality im pretty sure. not entirely sure how it works but i know for a fact that the days CoR theme sounds different from this lol.
