Well I checked out my BF100 Outboard and it doesn't have a nut and bolt like you described. It has a bolt threaded in that hold a steel angle that physically stops the throttle from going ant further. But that piece also hold a part of the throttle linkage the goes to the engine. I may have to take it apart and see if the support piece is needed (like I think it is) or maybe if I was to cut it out a bit and see if it allows the throttle to turn e en more, or if it hits the bolt?
Is there any chance you have a video on doing the coil starter assembly on this motor? It looks identical to my 8hp. I messed up thinking I could replace the pull rope without issue and now it's a mess and I can't figure out how to get the thing back together. Between the little spring that popped out and trying to get the big coil back in I had one hell of a weekend. Any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated.
@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 bummer! Well if you ever feel like pullin those 3 bolts holding the assembly on and flipping it over for me to see if the pin sticks out of one of those little holes it would help tremendously 😅 got the couple and everything back in just down to figuring out this little spring 😬
I have the 15hp that I just got with my skiff recently, the guy started it up for me on second pull and ran fine the time I was there, he kept his tank and gave me an extra fuel line... I took it out and it kept shutting off he said it could be air leaks in the fuel lines, does this sound like it could be the issue? I'm totally new to this so I'm trying to find some more experienced folks with the same outboard :) any help appreciated.
I would get it set up too run at home. With muffs or in a large tub. Then just start messing with stuff. My guess is it’s fuel related. I have a video of me going through carb
If the primer bulb doesn’t remain firm with the motor running, it’s ether the fuel pump or sucking air in the fuel line connections. Also make sure the vent on the fuel tank is open and stays open.
What about moving the throttle gear on tiller handle?? On mine there’s 4 slots and I see it’s 1 off from going wide open so it’s only going 3/4s throttle, wondering if changing this is the same as doing the screw mod?
What year motor is that..i bought a 15hp but he didnt know what year it was. It is like new but if i ever need part i wanted to know the year ? Looks Exactly like yours !
Hi dylan. Question. I have 2 little weep hole on the lower unit on the gear case on the left side of the feet. I just change the feet oil ans its leaking à little bit by those 2 hole some gear oil. Is thise 2 hole are over fill hole?
Old q, but if your'e seeing oil other than through the fill/empty screws or through the propeller shaft, it's probably from the engine. It will seep down through the stem and out the small holes.
Can you help me with what year motor this is? I have the same exact one and I can get it to crank, run for 15 seconds, then it dies. And won’t start again. I’ve cleaned the carb, new spark plugs, and I have god compression. I have no idea what to do anymore lol
Change your fuel” line all the way from tank to inlet of carb , change filter and make sure all lines are sealed tight , had a similar problem changed the fuel line with prime ball including and now works like a charm
From what year to what year motor is this doable on, i,d almost like to get an older one just so i can do this, i love changing or adjusting things to make them better.
That’s awesome!! I’m going to try this out on my Honda BF 15 it’s a 2004. I have it on a 15 fiberglass skiff lol and it’s just a hair short of putting me on plane! I hope this works
I have an older BF15 (approx. 2001 model) which after 20 years' service in stock/unrestricted form will still push my 16" Starcraft aluminum jon boat to 24+ mph (per GPS) with a minimal load onboard. Some years ago my Dad also owned a similar-year Honda 9.9 hp. After operating both engines I've observed noticeable differences between the performance characteristics of the two even though they share the same engine displacement. The BF15 has a noticeably more "lumpy" character at low rpm and requires more effort to pull start. To me this suggests that the valve lift, valve timing, carburetor size (or restriction) may be different between the two. In any case both outboards have proven to be amazingly fuel-efficient and long-term reliable!
@@PNWMushroomMan Did I do ok? They seem like great little motors! I got mine on a payment plan and it did not run but had before. 1500 did not seem too bad.
Hi man. Got the same one same year. I think the only thing different between the 9.9 and 15 are de jet / nozzle and cam shaft. Question for you... what is your compression on both cylindre? I have 160 and 164 is that ok?
That sounds high. Which is probably good. I’ll try and look it up for you. Ok if your talking 160 psi. That is defiantly high! I’m seeing 70 to 110 on the forums for a 9.9.
@@FixNewsPlease what proof or evidence do you have of this. If Honda used the same block and carburetor on a 9.9 and a 15 horse what’s to say removing this screw will give you less motor life. I mean running something wide open throttle is probably not great for any engine but with the screw in it seem like the motor is dying to be set free like there’s more to give. A negligible difference in life is worth it to me to unleash more of this GREAT motor design. I appreciate your feed back and would be glad to look at any link you can provide to back up your theory! @@doingstuffwithdylan4367 it would make since to make 1 block to serve 2 purposes. There's a reason for that restriction, warranty. After your warranty expires, you can remove it, but obviously Honda or any manufacturer won't tell you this, because people will remove it on day one and put it back after the engine fails and claim warranty.
I think you already have the maxed out version of that block design. The difference in mine and yours is you have different cam. And no screw. Maybe a completely different carburetor. But I’m pretty sure it’s the same block.
