UPDATE ON OCT 25, 2021: As promised earlier this year, Zoom’s Live Transcription service is now available for Free accounts. This enhancement provides access to Live Transcription for all account and user types. Live transcription must be enabled in the User-level Settings page for use in meetings and webinars.
Thank you so much, you were able to easily instruct how to turn on cc in Zoom and some other nice features that an instructor at school was not able to do. So thankful for you and thankful for RUclips!
Hi, Can i use it when I am not hosting the meeting and the hoster not knowing that I am using the tool? On the other hand, works when we are both on headphoens? Thanks
Jan, many thanks for your helpful video for Live Transcription service on Zoom - I was able to set mine this is great, thank you so much. I have one additional question, how can we get the transcription in French language when we use between french people ? Hope you will give me a clue, Thanks & regards
You're welcome. I am not sure if Zoom is already offering auto transcripts in other languages. They mentioned they are working on it at their annual conference this year
Hi Jan, One issue I found is that whether you Record the meeting to the Cloud or to your Local PC, the Closed Captions does not show up on the downloaded video file. The Closed Caption shows when viewed from the Link and the Zoom viewer but if you download either one of the Recording types the Closed Caption is missing. I think its a limitation of the players (I used VLC Player & Windows Media Player) possibly or the video file does not download with the closed caption. Getting the actual Closed Caption Transcript is no issue either. Any ideas or suggestions? Thx ElectricEddie.
@@reneefernandes2289 Yes in VLC player it has to be enabled in the menu of the VLC Player. You also have to have the cc file enabled in the ZOOM menu before therecording... Hope that helps....
Thank you so much! This is really helpful. BTW, I have a free personal account and it works for me! Hope to be using this in Zoom meetings for our nonprofit.
@@mrjankeck I immediately went and tested it and found I can use the feature when recoding to my computer - I just had to do the transcript in the side view.
@@mrjankeck Hey! it is not the same. I respond to calls on zoom for work and it would be a very helpful tool to have, but I can't seem to find the options anywhere.
Thank You. I'm trying to figure out how to use this doing a video deposition for lawyers. Any ideas you could share. I wish we could assign a keypad number to each participant . This would be an awesome tool for Video court reporters.
If you have a person who can translate it (like a live interpreter), you can assign them to type the captions in the other language. Currently, I don't think Zoom offers translation services. You could also use "Conversation" feature in the Google Translate app that would translate and read out what is being said
I recorded and saved a zoom meeting but did not toggle the transcript button, is there a way that I can still get transcripts from the recorded meeting?
Great Video. I have a question. As per the video, it says recorded zoom meetings saved on the cloud will show the caption and transcription when you playback the video. what about when you save the zoom meeting locally to the computer? the playback recordings [does not] show the subtitles and transcriptions in the playback recording for some reason even though I recorded it in the meeting. Please advise.
When you download the transcript, you can open it with a text editor and edit, yes. I usually copy-paste it into a Google Sheet where I can style it a bit more and then export as PDF before I send it out
Hello Jan, is there some way to auto translate this caption? All my meeting are in portuguese, and I want the caption in spanish or english for example.
Thank you so much for the reply. I am the admin on the account. If you could kindly tell me where in the admin I go to unlock it, that certainly would be appreciated.

How one can have the subtitles in a different language?
Thank you!!!!! Your input about converting cc.vtt to txt file was immensely helpful!!!! Great video!

Great video, How to use the VTT using Final Cut Pro to add sub title to my edited zoom recording?
How do you remove the time stamp from a transcription txt file. And how do you summarize the transcription?

Hai jan keck thank you so much man you had saved my day I was searching for this vedio a lot and it appeared here thank you thanks a lot
Glad I could help
Really helpful - thanks for making it!
exactly what I needed! Thank you Jan
You are so welcome!
Is there an Update to this video? Instructions seem to have changed.
Thank you for this fabulous video. You explain everything beautifully for us non-techies!
I really appreciate you sharing that, Ali
@@mrjankeck I immediately went and tested it and found I can use the feature when recoding to my computer - I just had to do the transcript in the side view.
thank you! Is this also possible on zoom call instead of meetings?
I assume that what you mean by "Zoom Call" is the same as a Zoom Meeting, so yes.
@@mrjankeck Hey! it is not the same. I respond to calls on zoom for work and it would be a very helpful tool to have, but I can't seem to find the options anywhere.
Are you using a Zoom phone? As far as I know there are only Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinars
@@mrjankeck that's a bummer! Thank you!
Thank you so very much for this video. This is really very useful.
You're very welcome!
Sir, you are the best!
Wow, thanks
Can the Transcript be available when the recording is on the local drive and not the Cloud?

Hi , what if the speaker was talking in Spanish for Example, is the caption available in other languages?
Thank you . Seems like it hears English once live scription is enables, but how makes it hear other languages?
I believe you'll need an enterprise subscription for that feature
@@mrjankeck thank you. I’ve figured out nowadays zoom only supports English for live captions. Right?
Ideally we want the captions but translated in the fly into say German. Is that possible?

Currently, I don't think Zoom offers translation services.

Not through Zoom, but you could upload the video or audio file to a transcription service or let AI do it

I think if you record locally you will have to manually click "save transcript" at the end of the meeting
Is it possible only host can see transcript ion during live zoom meeting and other not ?
I don't think so.
How about if I am the participant; the language being used in Bahasa Indonesia and I want to have the subtitle in English. How could I do it? Please
The meeting hosts would have to set that up on their end
Does the transcription is for English languange only? or can it transcribe other languages too?
Last time I checked you'll need an enterprise account for other languages
@@mrjankeck what is enterprise account?
A higher level Zoom account. You can check their pricing page for info. Unfortunately, the enterprise or business accounts are quite expensive
Thank you so much for this!
great video... very helpful... just one question... as there could be some errors in the transcript, can they be edited later?
When you download the transcript, you can open it with a text editor and edit, yes. I usually copy-paste it into a Google Sheet where I can style it a bit more and then export as PDF before I send it out
Hello Jan, is there some way to auto translate this caption? All my meeting are in portuguese, and I want the caption in spanish or english for example.
I think in Zoom it only works for English captions right now
There might be some other apps that integrate with Zoom that offer more languages
I have to type in my transcripts. I thought Zoom was providing this automatically this year.
It turns out you will need to be on a paid plan for the automatic captions
@@mrjankeck Next time please update your video to mention that upfront.
I clikcked on settings so I could enable this feature and it says locked by administration
Then talk to your admin if they can unlock it
Thank you so much for the reply. I am the admin on the account. If you could kindly tell me where in the admin I go to unlock it, that certainly would be appreciated.
In that case go to "Account Management" and enable it in your "Account Settings" on the Zoom website
Hi, can the participants see the transcript during the meeting?
Yes, they can either click transcript and see and download everything that was said or enable subtitles
Thanks! Very useful video! 5 *****
Thank you
thank you sir!
