Saw Robin with what I think was more or less this rig in Whitby, and frankly I’m not sure I’ll see a more moving and better sounding set. I’d assumed it was going to remain a mystery kit-wise.
When I was a teenager in the 90's I remember reading a short article in a music magazine (wish I could remember which one) that profiled Scanner. I read about him making music with recordings from a scanner, and I just thought that was the craziest, most futuristic and weird thing ever. Now I love using all kinds of recordings in my music, but it's hard to explain just how alien and provocative it seemed at the time.
Simply because it had not been released at that point in time. I bought the Milky Way when it was fist released and still love it. No need to change it for anything else. It's not always about the hp in itself. Why not this and why not that? That's the true joy of modular, the endless options! Most of the modules in this case could probably be exchanged for smaller alternatives, but these work for me, and that's the most important aspect 🙂
great interview and rig rundown from Robin... good to see the new Zoom L6 out on the road
thank you 👍

@@the_crow_garden slightly different set up there with an Elektron Digitakt, a Zen Delay and a couple more little fun toys :-)
Glad you enjoyed it!

3:13 that's from an old Scanner track, famously sampled by Björk without his permission
I never used it in the show but was tempted, just to tease any sonic memories from people :-D
Funny, I laughed as soon as I heard that but I didn't know it came from a Scanner track.
@@clearplasticity Scanner: did you license the sample?
Björk: possibly, maybe
Love my L6
All things Robin are wonderful
☺

The Milky Way? Why no MFX? It's 6hp.

I thought his name was Robin Rambo
when you pronounce it, that's how it sounds, but I lack the muscular physique
It’s Harry Smyth.
No, it's Harry Smith, nice and simple :-)
