I watched these videos and you gave me the confidence to go! But we have a smaller thrift organization that has an outlet bins, goodwill is next. Made some friends and they were bringing me things seeing me as a newbie 😂 just like you said! And I turtled my way through the bins on the reveals and when they cleared out I was still going and found a 100% cashmere scarf. Thank you so much for all your time dedicated to making these videos - I appreciate you!
Aw you’re so welcome! I also totally hear you on that, but I’m happy to hear you’re working through what you can and doing the best with what you have!
I have found good items in the bottom of the bin also. Another tip “usually” the new bin is filled with the same type of items i.e. baby stuff, tops, coats, so if that is what you’re looking for, stay searching in that bin.
Hm - most bins I’ve seen are very random so interesting your bins may have a different sorting system! Also, yes! The bottom of the bins is never the bottom of the barrel stuff haha
You have inspired me to try the bins again. I did it once but couldn’t deal with any of it. Now, I will go in with a different attitude and focus and not worry about what everyone else is doing. Thanks for your encouragement!
You’re so welcome! And I’m so happy you’ll be trying it again - I totally here you on not being able to deal with it the first time haha really excited for you!
the bins is a scary place! And yes, i tried to touch everything until someone else start digging into the same pile. Last time I put on earbuds and it worked wonders! I was much more relaxed and focused when i tooned out the noise of "breaking glass"...
The headphone’s definitely help Sean a ton! And the bins used to be the scariest place ever for me too but over time it’s become like a second home haha.
Yes! PLEASE PLEASE do videos on valuable patterns, styles, materials, and most of how to identify valuable brands that you might already know. List based on tags or other factors
Great series...one thing I want to mention is that not everyone there is a reseller....so....most might be looking for just their size or stuff they personally like. Their focus was narrow. Great for us because who in their right mind would pass up a St. John jacket that retails for $1200??? It happens. Not everyone is looking for the same stuff you are. I used to live in Austin. Many Latin folks were looking for light weight items to ship back to their country. They only wanted light stuff. I found tons of heavy pieces & couldn't believe they were left behind. Narrow focus = more great stuff for us
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I totally agree that not everyone is looking for the same thing - I always say to go through every bin and throwback regardless if resellers have already been there because you never know what they will miss, let alone what they sell or want to leave behind! Great point :)
Funny, I “had” to start at a different area/bin last time because someone was in “my” bin and I didn’t want to bother them. I felt “off” the whole trip! I thought that was just me, glad to hear I”m not alone. 😂
Thank you We are retired seniors and we are naturally Slow! We know the treasure hunt will produce results. We divide and conquer We pace ourselves to avoid frustration. always think good vibes. Be kind always. We comp and evaluate condition prior to check out. I think about how they will look in the photos. We found a pair of pants that had one leg longer didn’t see that coming
Thanks for the great video, Bethany! Just started working the bins a couple of months ago. The one I go to? Courtesy is dead! I make an active effort to be kind, friendly, and courteous, and one in a while, I bring others into my little bubble of good! Generally, I want to feel good about how I am as a person - in every situation - when all is said and done.
Yes, courtesy from some is absent. I try to be polite and help people but that is not always returned. So, a lot of times I just keep my head down and work. I am also slow at going through the bins because I want to look at everything.
Love this! I need to dig all the way to the bottom all the time...thanks for the reminder! Funny story...the shoes at the bins are always banded together and I didn't take this pair apart..they were Rothys and I was excited and then when I got home they were 2 left shoes! UGH...lol. Then even though I always check over everything before I buy it after I toss it in my cart...I guess I need to slow down a little because I brought home a pair of sandals that were 2 different left sandals..same brand...I was so mad as I could have sole them for good money! I sold one pair for $60 already. So...not only look everything over good...but really good...slowing down when you do! I love how you said your pace is slow. I need to learn from that! Thank you Bethany! 😍
Hi, I am a newer reseller and I have a similar approach to digging as you guys, very thorough and methodically and I still find amazing treasures that people missed bcz people do not look at tags.
I don't touch every piece but now I am going to start! 😂 How many hours a day are you at the bins? Do you go every day? Also, what do you use for stain treatment?? Products you recommend for difficult spot stains? Thanks a bunch! 🙏🏼 Can't wait till your advanced video! ❤
@@TrashPandasThrift wow that's incredible! I've only sourced maybe 2 hours 3 days a week but I was a regular reseller but as I told you guys before I am switching to wholesale so I'm trying to see what a good average time would be to spend ☺️ also I wanted to thank you, for always answering all my comments on all your videos! You're the best ❤️
You’re so welcome! We love answering whatever questions we can :) I’d also add that it’s not ALWAYS about time in - some bins are way better than others, some have weird rotation schedules, etc. it’ll really depend on quantity and quality of pieces you’re able to source in any given amount of time.
If I am unable to spend a lot of time in the bins, stick with one instead of "surfing"? I'm trying to become more mindful of my time. Thanks for the great videos.
Hi! Personally, my approach is always to dig to a bottom of a bin regardless of time allotted. If however your bin is full of towels/ really dirty or something, then I’d skip to another bin but id then continue digging to the bottom of that one :)
@@TrashPandasThrift I’ve found some interesting treasures at the GW bins. Yeti and Stanley tumblers, Ouija boards, Raggedy Ann-like dolls, Prada bags and toolsets galore!

OK. Now I am going to be brave and get in on the new rotations. I usually just hang back. Thanks for the encouragement!
Of course! Go get after it you’re gonna find some amazing pieces I know it :)
Can’t wait for Episode 4 🎉❤ Thanks so much for your teachings!

I absolutely have to touch every single piece, and it definitely pays off. Great advice.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! And I totally agree!
Same
Yes- I find so much cashmere at my bins that I otherwise wouldn’t have found, especially brands that don’t have noticeable tags

This is totally me too! It messes with the reseller feng shui (or however you spell it)

This is very true! It’s so hard to find things when you’re rushing - so we just don’t haha love that we have the same strategy!
PREACH!!🙌 Love it! ❤
Great advice in this video! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks I did really well with the stuff I got from the bins.
I’m so happy to hear that!!

Hi! I’m at the bins for about 4-ish hours a day now, for 3 years in Austin we used to go for about 7-8 hours a day sourcing!
@@TrashPandasThrift wow that's incredible! Also also, we use S-32 spot treatment, and then will wash higher end pieces if that doesn’t work with oxy or another cleaner. :)

I check all zippers in jackets but missed a zipper in a pair of Levis!!
Haha it’s always the one zipper or something so small! (Or in my case, a whole pant leg lol)
I get free boxes when I do my weekly GW Bins therapy.
Nice!!!
