This is an awesome video. We just visited Nairobi for two weeks. We visited most places you showed, and loved it. We did the Nairobi Safari, Nairobi Museum, Bomas of Kenya, Village Market and much more. I wish I had seen this video before, we visited. What an awesome place to be. The people are so friendly and we love them!! Thank you Gabi, and thank you, Nairobi, Kenya for being a wonderful country❤🇰🇪
I have been to Kenya some 45 times, and own property there. I had an absence of 10 years when I returned, I hardly recognized Nairobi, so much had changed. Many places I knew had closed, with many new ones. The city is looking great, but the Nairobi Expressway blights the city, a big white elephant with very little traffic on it. Driving from the airport, it just cuts off your whole view, The JKIA once dominated the city skyline is barely visible now. Lots of nice tall buildings have been erected.
The expressway has toll stations, meaning that it has a fee, so people tend to avoid it during off-peak hours. It's usually busy though, during peak hours
Change is especially hard when you dislike the result. Sorry you're disappointed; I know how it is. I have been to Kenya five times. It changes every time. Some of the changes are wonderful whereas some things I would like to change are still there. I wish there were not speed bumps on Thika highway.
Heyy am Kenyan and I'd say showing both sides of Kenya is the real meaning of travelling and also showing how people are friendly even in the poor side speaks alot. You do your thing 👍
Ok. So you can show us small poor children in a dirty environment? If someone challenges you to show or produce footage of small rich kids dancing and looking happy CAN YOU SHOW THAT?
I was born in Kenya, a long time ago. Since then I moved to the US, but miss home still. It is amazing how much has changed and yet how much is still the same.
I visited Kenya about 30 years ago, stayed in Nairobi some of the time and even then, compared to Boston where I lived Nairobi was at least as modern and certainly bigger. But most interesting for me was the huge variety of animals seen. On my first full day , mostly Maasai Mara I saw 28 distinct species of animals, we drove within feet of lions. It was phenomenal. The people were also great in that they were all trained for whatever jobs they had. Our tour driver had 3 years formal schooling to drive safely, know the roads and sights and teach tourists about the animals etc. I see all of the attention to detail is paying off. Love it.
Sometimes kindnesses is the only thing you can do in this world....I love that black man he has a good heart like you you can be human to see how they live with nothing but still can smile....
Great video as always! The most wonderful and rewarding thing about travel is connecting with the people! You do it so well! Thanks for taking us along!
I simply love kenya. What a lovely pair of guys. Love you both . Nairobi is great place . I love the malls and the markets. Kenya has too much to offer though kenya does not know how to show her beauty off. Thanks for people like you showing the world what kenya is made of. Please explore everywhere including the beautiful islands on lake victoria especially mfangano. The water is tranquil and stunning and there is a mountain road round the island. @@aidaofearth Capitalism and communism are two distinct economic and political systems that offer contrasting approaches to managing economies and societies. Here are the key differences between them: ### Ownership and Control - **Capitalism:** - **Private Ownership:** In a capitalist system, individuals and businesses own property and the means of production (e.g., factories, machinery, and land). - **Market Economy:** Decisions about production, investment, and distribution are driven by market forces such as supply and demand. - **Communism:** - **Public Ownership:** In a communist system, the state or the community collectively owns the means of production. Private property is typically limited or nonexistent. - **Planned Economy:** Economic decisions are made by central planning authorities, aiming to allocate resources equitably across society. ### Economic Goals - **Capitalism:** - **Profit Motive:** The primary goal is to generate profit, which incentivizes innovation and efficiency. - **Competition:** Market competition drives economic activity, often leading to better products and services. - **Communism:** - **Equity and Fairness:** The primary goal is to achieve a classless society where wealth and resources are distributed according to needs. - **Cooperation:** Emphasis is on collective effort and cooperation rather than competition. ### Social Structure - **Capitalism:** - **Class Distinctions:** Capitalism often leads to significant class distinctions based on wealth and income, with clear divisions between capitalists (owners) and workers. - **Individualism:** Emphasizes individual rights, freedoms, and responsibilities. - **Communism:** - **Classless Society:** Seeks to eliminate class distinctions, aiming for an equal society where everyone has similar social and economic status. - **Collectivism:** Focuses on collective welfare and the well-being of the community over individual interests. ### Government Role - **Capitalism:** - **Limited Government:** Generally advocates for minimal government intervention in the economy, supporting free markets and individual entrepreneurship. - **Regulation:** The government may regulate to prevent monopolies, protect consumers, and ensure fair practices, but its role is limited compared to communism. - **Communism:** - **Extensive Government Control:** The government has significant control over economic activities, including production, pricing, and distribution. - **Central Planning:** The government plans and directs economic activities to ensure that resources are distributed equitably and according to the collective needs. ### Examples and Outcomes - **Capitalism:** - **Examples:** The United States, United Kingdom, and other Western democracies are often cited as examples of capitalist economies. - **Outcomes:** Capitalism has led to significant economic growth and innovation but has also been criticized for creating income inequality and social disparity. - **Communism:** - **Examples:** The Soviet Union, China (historically), and Cuba are examples of countries that have implemented communist principles. - **Outcomes:** Communism has aimed for equitable distribution of wealth but has often struggled with inefficiency, lack of innovation, and authoritarian governance. These differences outline the fundamental ideologies and operational mechanisms that distinguish capitalism from communism.
@@aidaofearth The approaches of capitalism and communism to housing and homelessness reflect their broader economic and social philosophies. ### Housing in Capitalism - **Private Ownership:** Housing is largely a private good. Individuals and businesses own and develop real estate. People buy or rent homes from private owners. - **Market-Driven:** Housing availability and pricing are driven by market forces like supply and demand. Developers build where there's potential for profit. - **Variety and Quality:** There's a wide variety of housing options, from luxury apartments to affordable housing. However, quality and accessibility often depend on income levels. - **Government Role:** Governments may intervene to varying degrees, providing subsidies, tax incentives for developers, or public housing projects. Zoning laws and regulations shape development. - **Homelessness:** In capitalist societies, homelessness can be a significant issue, often tied to economic disparities. Efforts to address it include shelters, non-profit organizations, and government programs, but funding and effectiveness can vary. ### Housing in Communism - **Public Ownership:** Housing is typically owned and managed by the state or community. Private real estate markets are limited or non-existent. - **Planned Distribution:** The government plans and allocates housing based on need rather than market forces. Housing is often provided at low or no cost. - **Uniformity and Quality:** Housing quality may be more uniform, with efforts to ensure everyone has access to basic accommodation. However, this can sometimes lead to lower quality or less variety due to limited resources and centralized control. - **Government Role:** The government plays a central role in all aspects of housing, from construction to allocation and maintenance. - **Homelessness:** Homelessness is less visible or officially acknowledged, as the state aims to ensure everyone has housing. However, shortages and inefficiencies in allocation can still lead to inadequate living conditions or unofficial homelessness. ### Comparative Outcomes - **Capitalist Systems:** - **Pros:** Greater innovation and variety in housing options; potential for high-quality living environments; dynamic response to demand. - **Cons:** Significant disparities in housing quality and accessibility; higher risk of homelessness due to economic inequalities and market fluctuations. - **Communist Systems:** - **Pros:** Aim for universal housing access; reduced disparities in housing quality; housing not typically tied to individual wealth. - **Cons:** Potential for inefficiency and bureaucratic delays; quality may suffer due to limited resources and lack of competition; shortages and over-centralization can lead to suboptimal living conditions. In summary, capitalist and communist systems offer contrasting approaches to housing and homelessness, each with distinct advantages and challenges influenced by their underlying economic and social principles.
Hi Gabi. Hello from Maputo the capital city of Mozambique. That is good, showing the both sides. Congratulations for your wonderful vídeos. Keep going. Stay safe and healthy.
Hi Gabi have been watching your RUclips videos I am from Kenya as well but live in UK now and like the way you showcased Kenya in both aspects of life poor and rich life ...Ur videos are very informative and entertaining and like the way you engage with the local people..once again ..Karibu saana to Kenya which means welcome to Kenya and asante Sana means Thank you for showing us the new Kenya look forward to more videos 🙂
Wow! No one shows you the beauty of Kenya like this. Runda and Kilimani are beautiful! Kenyans be proud of your country, no matter your income; there is always opportunity to grow, though it takes time. Patience always wins. Thank you for showing these lovely areas. Mansions and Homes were wonderful and spaced far away from each other. Well developed.
I was born in Nairobi. As you know, you've been mistaken for an Indian many times. There's a rich history of Indians in East Africa. Please make a video about their connection and also take the train to Mombasa.
But you’re still Indian. You’re not originally Kenyan. There is no area in kenya in which you come from unless you refer to parklands as your ‘ushago’. Majority of you can’t speak Swahili and you don’t have Kenyan culture, you only practice your Indian culture which is fine. When Kenyans go to their rural homes in December, you’re on your way to India. So yes, you’ll always be Indian unless you marry a Kenyan and give birth.
Hi Gabi. It’s Paul + Yen from Singapore (we met you and Ploy) at the Jewel Changi Airport. By coincidence my son lives in Nairobi so we have really enjoyed your series on Kenya! Hope you are ok as we haven’t heard from you for a while.
Gabi, the guide knows nothing. Kilimani is not a rich area. It's upper middle class. Karen is rich. Muthaiga is rich. Kitusuru is rich. Kilmani and Westlands are middle class.
@@MainneliThere are so many people earning above 100k in Kenya. The statistics wanatumia ni za watu wako kwa formal employment. Sahi kuna very many young people doing their own businesses na wengine wako kwa industries kama online businesses, including writing. Just because watu wa Kilimani wanalipa 100k rent does not mean they're rich. Na si kila mtu huko analipa 100k, kuna cheaper houses huko. Rich people wanakaa places kama Muthaiga, Runda, Kitusuru, Karen, etc. If unadhani watu wanaishi Kilimani ni rich ask them wahamie hizi places nmekutajia uone kama wanaeza manage.
@@Mainneli It's not rich. A person on a salary can afford to live there. There's no employed position in Nairobi that can make a single individual afford to buy in Karen based on salary alone. You need legacy money for Muthaiga, Kitisuru, Sprng Valley, areas like that. That's how you tell rich and middle class apart. So even parts of Lavington are attainable but real Lavington proper where there are no apartment blocks is rich because houses go for 1-2 million dollars.
@@swts4k It's not my passion to guide people around neighbourhoods. But I have all the time in the world to call out misleading information on RUclips when I see it. Kilimani is not "rich".
I visited Nairobi in 2023. First I spent several weeks in a poor part of the city. Of course not in the slums but in Roysambu, Kasarani and Kahawa West. Only after that I got to a rich part of Nairobi. It looked, smelled and felt like another country! I never expected such a big difference. People are very friendly but a foreigner should not walk alone. And in some districts of the city only the district residents should walk. I feel you made a good video. And my favorite mall is Sarit.😊
people praising Kilimani.. was it not on the news just the other day for it's vertical and concrete slums??!!! with flats similar to those in Pipeline and Githurai areas..!! I think the only area in Kilimani that can be considered rich is along Dennis Pritt road. The rest ziiii❤
Great ❤ video with lots of humanity touch... the smiling happy kids in the poor neighbourhoods.. every society has all the sides from poor to rich.. other malls you missed are Sarit center ..a walk from Westgate ..The Hub Karen.. nice video.. ❤
Gabi, you are one of a kind. I love traveling through your eyes and your heart. Your images and comments make me think about what it really means to be rich. Hug from Canada
Thank you for a well balanced presentation of both extremes. Unlike many visiting tourists, they always present the poor side only. I am from Malawi, one day come visit Malawi......Enjoy your travels...Sawa
why don't we hear the same sentiments when it comes to western world? For example in america and canada there is Too much homelessness. What if the world only decided to forcus on that like they do when it comes to Africa? This is 2023 Africa moved on in a Major way
I think it is very important for myself and the world, to see the slum areas of Africa and all the children; these children, are the world’s future and they must have computers in their schools and the best healthcare, nutrition and education that the world can possibly give them.
lol my high school is in the gigiri area and our pricipal used to take the whole school for walks around the neighborhood. Million dollar houses, one had a boat access, like you had to use a boat to get to the house 🙈

- **Regulation:** The government may regulate to prevent monopolies, protect consumers, and ensure fair practices, but its role is limited compared to communism.
- **Communism:**
- **Extensive Government Control:** The government has significant control over economic activities, including production, pricing, and distribution.
- **Central Planning:** The government plans and directs economic activities to ensure that resources are distributed equitably and according to the collective needs.
### Examples and Outcomes
- **Capitalism:**
- **Examples:** The United States, United Kingdom, and other Western democracies are often cited as examples of capitalist economies.
- **Outcomes:** Capitalism has led to significant economic growth and innovation but has also been criticized for creating income inequality and social disparity.
- **Communism:**
- **Examples:** The Soviet Union, China (historically), and Cuba are examples of countries that have implemented communist principles.
### Housing in Capitalism
- **Private Ownership:** Housing is largely a private good.
### Housing in Communism
- **Public Ownership:** Housing is typically owned and managed by the state or community.
### Comparative Outcomes
- **Capitalist Systems:**
- **Pros:** Greater innovation and variety in housing options; potential for high-quality living environments; dynamic response to demand.
- **Cons:** Significant disparities in housing quality and accessibility; higher risk of homelessness due to economic inequalities and market fluctuations.
- **Communist Systems:**
- **Pros:** Aim for universal housing access; reduced disparities in housing quality; housing not typically tied to individual wealth.
Great vlog! Richard is amazing and very professional tour guide as well. Well done!
Thank you 🙏🏻 🙏🏻
@@ridewithgabi have a nice time in Kenya 😄🙏
I like when u said that everywhere there’s rich and poor
FINALLYYYYYYYYY BRUUUUUH SOMEONE SHOWED THE GOOD PART OF OUR AMAZING COUNTRY BRUH
Gabi, the guide knows nothing. Kilimani is not a rich area. It's upper middle class. Karen is rich. Muthaiga is rich. Kitusuru is rich. Kilmani and Westlands are middle class.
Since you know too much about "guiding" in Nairobi, why aren't you a guide? Quit the nonsense.
Visit rural centres and meet real people telling real stories. Nairobi is full of "plastic" people.
Kenya is the pride of africa ❤ so we must be the frontliners we can't brag about that
Someone asked about historical sites.. I'd love to say we have Vasco da gama area in Mombasa.. And Malindi also has some nice places 😉😉
A shopping centre being your favourite area in Nairobi casts some doubts on the overall beauty of the city😬😬anyway great video! Ciao👍
Thanks for promoting tourism in kenya ,kenya its beautiful !
people praising Kilimani.. was it not on the news just the other day for it's vertical and concrete slums??!!! with flats similar to those in Pipeline and Githurai areas..!!
Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thnk u for showing the Nice parts of Kenya❤️❤️🇰🇪🇰🇪🇩🇰🇩🇰
thank you for an awesome video!!! I will visit and now know the right area to visit!!!
Glad you enjoyed your visit. Kibera is the 2nd largest slum in Africa and Soweto being the largest in south Africa. Correction there
Visit the BBS mall too, it's the biggest shopping mall in East and Central Africa
Biggest but situated in a crowded chaotic place.
Thank you for a well balanced presentation of both extremes. Unlike many visiting tourists, they always present the poor side only. I am from Malawi, one day come visit Malawi......Enjoy your travels...Sawa
I love the last part of the video❤❤❤it's so heartwarming 😊
Wonderful thank you Gabi
Show life as it is. Follow your own thematic style. Thanks Gabi.
why don't we hear the same sentiments when it comes to western world? For example in america and canada there is Too much homelessness. What if the world only decided to forcus on that like they do when it comes to Africa? This is 2023 Africa moved on in a Major way
Peter Santenello covers poor Ameeica. Very interesting vlogs.
These insights are really helpful!

You kept it authentic 💯 👌
I'm coming to visit Kenya.. from Jamaica🇯🇲
You did not visit Kitisuru. It is the best and richest of those places
Last video you chang the boy life.super brother
I think it is very important for myself and the world, to see the slum areas of Africa and all the children; these children, are the world’s future and they must have computers in their schools and the best healthcare, nutrition and education that the world can possibly give them.
Really enjoyed this video!!!!. Watching you from the Southeast of Haiti.
❤❤❤❤brings many friends to Kenya I love your show
Great video. Keep going men 👍
Ur videos always get real. Love it❤
You should have taken a tour to Eastleigh, the shopping capital of Kenya, and probably also the most culturally diverse place in Nairobi.
🎉🎉🎉🎉this was a great 👍 video and very informative
lol my high school is in the gigiri area and our pricipal used to take the whole school for walks around the neighborhood. Million dollar houses, one had a boat access, like you had to use a boat to get to the house 🙈
Which school
@@filbao8113 Hospital Hill High School 😊
Thanks Take aTrip on Nairobi Express way 🎉🎉
Your guide missed out on where there's the most development, upperhill and a few other areas, nice video 👍
Upper Hill is mostly offices, isn't it? It's the financial district of Nairobi.
Next time 😉
