My brother and sister flew Estes rockets, including the Mars Lander in the ‘70s and ‘80s. I flew my fair share in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. Cool video. Glad it popped in my feed. Cheers! 👍🏽

Those Q-Jets definitely have their issues! Nice flights overall. Imagine what would have happened to the Mars Lander if the legs didn't have shock absorbers!

Right still bust one. I can see inside. I believe it slipped out of the silicon hinge. I may not have to cut it open.

Really want to get the Mars Lander to build (since the 70s)
With your 2nd surgery on this and I still don’t have a place to launch (or build these ) “wife says HDL first and I don’t clean up after” 😅
Gotta say- you have a nice open area. Only thing to make it better is to have a nice 2” grass bed to help on landings.
Neat with the Mars .. just bopping when it landed - neat

I feel the mars lander would benefit with a nylon parachute.🪂

It’s the 18mm D QJet motors that are the problem. Not using them again. A, B, and C 18mm QJets, as long as you don’t mind guaranteed chuffing, work well…

@mobrockets Yeah. This seems ro be a recent thing. I have 2 bulk packs from maybe a year ago or so. Up until now they were fine. They were stored at room temperature cool and everything.

@ In theory, composite motors are not temp affected like black powder motors…. I don’t recall seeing a QJet motor that did not chuff or worse… I just flew a couple of their new B14s. Nice boost on those!

@mobrockets I did't think so either, until issues comae up. It says on the box or some place store in a cool dry place. I associated that with performance.
