6:33 "Let's go through those first ones... first." I don't have one of these straps (yet), but this is definitely one of the best company videos I've seen.
I just received my slide lite & ARCA compatible quick release plate via FedEx. I really don’t think that the quality could be any better. The photos and description online do no justice. I have no doubt that this will be the only strap I will need for the rest of my life!! This instructional video helped me so much too! If you’re on the fence and not sure about purchasing this, I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!! ...Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that their products have a lifetime warranty! 😎
I took a Nikon D750 to London for a 7 day vacation, and by day 2 I was miserable. The camera hanging around my neck with the crummy Nikon strap was just too heavy. So I bought the Peak Design clip, and am thrilled with it, however I am every-so-slightly nervous about doing 11 days in Egypt this fall with $1800 clipped to my hip. So I went back and bought the Lite strap as well. This solves both problems. You can keep the camera around your neck using the strap when shooting, and if you need a break, you can lift it up and clip it into your belt, releasing all the weight from your neck. In addition, you have it attached to you 2 ways in case of attempted theft. And if the clip ever came loose, the strap would keep the camera from falling. These are great products!
This is hands down the best camera strap I've EVER owned, caries my full frame Nikon D750 plus extra battery grip and telephoto all day with no fatigue even during long altitude gain hikes hikes. The grippy side of the padding is awesome, hopefully it lasts forever. The adjustment hardware is super smooth and is one hand adjustable with a heavier rig like mine. Speaking oof smooth, the seat belt material is strong and simplistic... the movement from stow to shoot really is a very smooth and seamless transition like he shows. The attachment points lugs are genius too, I never liked the clip ons with the metal jingling around and scarring the camera with a accidental bump and the straight strap style attachments take forever to attach and detach. I even like the color (I went with the light gray) oh, and my strap is a full size "slide". it's so sexy it actually inspires me to grab my rig more often than not, which is great when you make a living with it... so technically the strap kinda pays for itself haha. hope this helps someone out there... GREAT PRODUCT PD!!! WELL DONE, BRAVO ZULU!
Just bought my very first Slide Lite here in London and found this video really useful. Thanks. Great presentation and terrific sense of fun. Loved it.
I have had one of the special edition straps for over a year now on a Sony A7 with battery grip and 70-200 and have zero issue. I LOVE IT! It has been soaked in rain, sweat, and mud and has been easy to clean and has zero tears or snags. The pad on the slide is amazing! I have abused this strap and it still stands strong. I would recommend to anyone! Spends the extra money for a Peak product!
2 years late. But, how do you deal with the 70-200 lens and this strap. I've used it now for about a week. And the switches on the side of my 70-200 (Focus mode, steadyshot, focus range, etc) constantly get knocked out of position in a "sling style" carrying position. Which I'm not too happy with.
@@PilotPhteven so I mount mine on the eyelet that’s built onto the camera and I have the RC2 tripod mount as my second connection point. I haven’t had any really issues bumping the switches on my Sony 70-200
You can use the clips directly on Nikon. Trick is to loop dental floss through the clip and pull it through the small Nikon eyelet. Works perfectly and keeps things really clean on the camera.
I modified my Peak Design strap with three small modifications. 1. The plastic buttons for the quick disconnect system would catch on the strap because of the gaps between the webbing where it loops thru the mating connector. I wrapped a small piece of velcro around the webbing to keep the gap closed and this seems to work much better. 2. The plastic buttons were difficult to slide with dry hands. I installed a small rubber button foot on to each plastic button. 3. I removed the metal slide rings, as they had sharp edges that could scratch the Zoom F6 recorder.
I bought mine for an Alaskan Cruise and side trip to Denali. I was taking a chance as I hadn't tried it before the purchase. I LOVED IT!! It was so much more comfortable than my Nikon Strap. Most of the time I had my camera with me, sometimes 8-10 hours/day. No Discomfort at all.
I just bought the Slide Lite this week and spent a day using it with my Canon 6D w/ 24-105 lens. It worked great, especially paired with my new daypack. Much much more comfortable than my old setup. I did initially purchase the Slide, but thought the strap was too wide and the padding didn't feel right to me. What I really wanted was the Leash, but it was too narrow for the back f my neck.
Got the Lite and the Cuff and could not be happier with functionality and craftsmanship. Have attachments on both of my cameras and easily switch between the two. Great purchase!
I just got one of these today after contemplating the price for about a year... very happy purchase... took my camera on a 5k walk and barley noticed it was there!
I just purchased my first PK Slide Strap, I'm 6,5 tall and both the pull up /pull down handles are at the edge of the strap / anchor points - its ok, but consider lengthening your next Slide Model by increasing the strap length by 20 to 30cm longer, that way the pull up /pull down handles can sit high on my chest instead my hips - thats for the taller men :)
Just purchased the slide strap for my Nikon d610 today. Connecting was easy. Sling-style is my preferred way to use it. I'm looking forward to using this Labor Day weekend! Oh, the bag that the extras came in...I will be storing a lens in it when not in use! Thanks! 😁
I've used a lot of different camera straps over the years the Peak Design Slide is by far my favorite. That along with the thoughtful design and incredible quality of all their products makes it easy for me to recommend them. Seeing this video has only made me a bigger fan thanks for the laughs and the incredible products.
I've used the Leash for several years now on lighter weight cameras (Fujifilm X100s, including a month in Chicago; X-T1; Panasonic G85). I just bought the Slide, in gray, along with my new Sony a9. I'm very impressed with the stability of the hold using the two strap rings: I run the strap long enough to sling the camera. After watching this video, I decided to try using the bottom-mounted attachment point. WOW! I'll also be trying the Capture clip. Thanks, Peak Design!
Very helpful. I was skeptical about the mount on the bottom of my camera, but after seeing it in action, that’s where I’m putting the anchor on my D7200. That looks so practical. And it keeps my 55-200 I usually rock from dinging the lens around. I’m honestly just upset that it took me this long to invest in the system. I have 4 more anchors on the way. All my digital and film cameras now sport PD anchors and it makes things so much easier and cleaner to store.
Just got the slide for the Canon R5C. 😊 I love the backpack but then I saw the price tag. You guys make well-made premium products. That I have to say.
i'm using the Slide Lite since a view days and I'm quite happy with it. I also like this video, looks way more authentic, even if it's from the manufacturer, than any influencer here on youtube. Shówing a heavy used Nikon DSLR give me more confidence;-)
I was initially skeptical of these straps (because I've been bitten so many times in the past with so many other straps) but after a year or two of constant use, they work great and look great. The only other straps I still use are DSPTCH, also San Francisco. Both highly recommended.
You can thread the anchors directly through the smaller eyelets by using a strong thread to pull it through. I’ve seen no abrasions on the anchor cords.
Pro Tip: Notice that fourth anchor that's leftover after install? Attach it to the buckle you used on the bottom strap. Then you can attach the other buckle to it. With the two buckles connected together, you can carry the camera from one anchor (CustomSLR-style) and it just takes one clip to remove or reattach the strap from the camera. It also keeps the strap in position around your body when you're shooting strap-free, but quickly reattaches when you need both hands free again.
Ben Mendis Good tip, thanks! Not sure if I want to go custom SLR style but at the very least you can retain the strap on your body when you use a tripod. I have a whole bunch of v3 spares.
@@WatchmanNiel I don't hang it that way all the time because it swings around a lot more, but some times it's handy. Like when using a tripod, or with a peak design shell, or when taking it off and on the strap frequently. It just gives you another option even if you don't always need it. Kinda surprised it doesn't ship that way.
@@baldytyre He meant add the last anchor to the anchor mount that is connected to the tripod mount at the bottom of the camera. This way the strap is not in the way when you want to use the camera.
I really like the quality and eas of adjustment of the Slide. One issue though is when holding you camera in 'portrait' position. The Slide blocks the viewfinder pretty much. Maybe the designersteam can add a piece of Lite strap at both ends between the clips and the leather connection, which make it easier to manoeuvre around your hand, turning the camera 90˚. In that way you keep the comfort on the shoulder and in the neck of the Slides wide size, making it still usefull for heavy body+lens combinations, without loosing too much on strength.
OK. A. You guys are as cool as I thought you'd be, which is pretty cool. B. Definitely came because I didn't grok the whole "flip to grip" for the last 3 years. Now I don't have to vacillate between anger and feeling stupid every time I head out to shoot. So, thanks.
The slide and slide lite come with tiny pouches that initially contain the extra quick connectors, the anchor mount and an Allen key. I've always wondered what these are actually for as they are unnecessarily big to store these things but seem a bit too tiny to store the straps themselves (especially the non-lite version as folding the padded bit might result in some definitive marking).
7:31 exactly the reason why I watched this video. Was trying to figure out why the grip was the chosen side. I was trying to figure out how to use it in neck-carry style and couldn't get it to work. It's actually meant for shoulder-style carry use.
HACK 4 NIKON CAMERAS: Yes you can attach the anchors direct to your eyelets. Pass a short piece of fishing line through the eyelet and then through the anchors loop and finally pass the fishing line back through the camera eyelet. Pull firmly on the fishing line and you'll be able to pull the anchor loop through the eyelet! Continue to install the anchor on the usual manner. CARE: monofilament fishing line can dig into soft skin, wrap the end of a pencil or similar if you don't have tough skin. Great products from Peak Design, thanks guys.
I like the V1's. They have a more relaxed fit. The newer versions seem a little stiff. The new cuff is perfect for my wrist after carefully removing the leather piece that is stitched on it. The v1 cuff was a little small.
Strap adjusters are made of aluminium. I like to carry my camera lens down (in my bag ) My current strap is on the top (on the LCD screen). Tell me if I'm wrong but aluminium elements can scratch the LCD or even broke it right ?
J M the strap can disconnect from the camera super easily so that shouldn’t be a problem. But I always wrap my strap around my lens to keep it nicely tucked away and away from anything it may scratch
Would have been helpful if you would’ve demonstrated on a camera with a telephoto lens like a 100-400mm or 150-600mm. Would it be best to attach both loops to the lens foot or 1 to the foot and 1 to the camera
I have one of these straps. Nice overall, but I find the rubber on the strap useless, as the strip is uncomfortable with the rubber side down (because the protruding part of the buckles press against your body). But more than that, I don't like that their plate is only useful for when you want to carry the camera on the strap, and that you have to remove the plate when not using it on the strap. I would prefer a plate I could leave on the camera all the time, with arca compatibility (so it can be used with tripod) and a fast way to connect the peak strap to this plate when I want to carry. A QD solution is really what's needed.
Do the new straps still have the garbage adjuster sliders like the old ones? They look identical, have they been improved at all? It would be a great strap if it stayed how long you want the strap to be - with mine, you so much as breath on the adjusters and it lengthens the strap. I'm about ready to permanently sew the slides so I don't have to shorten the strap every 30 minutes, it's a real pain.
Just received my Slide and Cuff and love them both! BTW, I do not bother attaching to bottom (tripod hole) of camera when in "sling" mode; I simply just use the two rings on the side of the camera and the "sling" part works just fine. On the bottom of my camera, I have an Arca Swiss plate.
Hamish A. If you have an extra base plate lying around you can attach the anchor to that one. I use it on my 70-200. Sometimes I use two anchors to have the lens hanging around “sling” style when I don’t use it
Question - sling style - R3 and 500mm f4 IS L (mark 1, so 4kg lens) - my concern is having the lens facing downwards is going to hinder walking, and gravity will put a TONNE of stress on the RF mount on the R3 and possibly de-laminate it away from the body itself (with the lens crashing front lens element to the ground). Am I incorrect in my assertions? The slide would come in handy, if I"m doing macro or working with a smaller zoom lens like the 70-200 f2.8.
I just bought the Slide yesterday and I thought it came with the Tripod anchor mount (which my last one had) the one I bought yesterday didn't have it. It came with the low profile anchor mount. Is this a new version
Hi, after using various Peak Design products, thinking of buying 'Slide'. However a question, one end of Slide fixes at the bottom of the camera with large lens. It fixes there directly on Standard Plate and Standard Plate goes on and off the tripod mount. Will such movement not damage the Anchor (thread)? I shall be grateful if someone may direct me to some link that shows how the camera with a slide and anchor clip fixed on the bottom of camera work with Peak Design tripod. Thanks
My favorite part of peak design products is that everything can be used together. Kudos so the engineering team!
That 'Pro-Tip' moment made me order 2 straight away.

Should still buy the quick capture if im planning to buy the strap?
The problem with the grippy side is that the buckles for the slide are no longer easily accessible.
I just bought the Slide yesterday and I thought it came with the Tripod anchor mount (which my last one had) the one I bought yesterday didn't have it. It came with the low profile anchor mount. Is this a new version
newbie here but wouldn't a regular 3rd party strap serve the same purpose.I mean we can use the anchor mounts with normal straps also right?
Nice watch, BTW. If my memory serves me well, it is Casio's CA-53W.
What is best for my 77d with a 18-55 lens ?
I made one out of rope I bought at Home Depot and werks gewd🤪
I'm sold.
Hey @peak design, I have the PD travel tripod. Would the strap anker on the standard tripod plate get in away when mounting the camera on the tripod?
on a nikon camera Z9 can you attach the anchors direct to the body and not use the eyelits
I use a Nikon Zf with a SmallRig grip. Can I use the Slide with these? Thanks.
I love this
curious about how to clean the strap, just wash it ?
Yes. Lite is for lighter cameras. *glances at Canon F1 with speed finder and auto winder weighing in at 72 pounds*
I am trialing this strap and having a hard time getting the strap detached from the clips. Suggestions?
Hi, after using various Peak Design products, thinking of buying 'Slide'. However a question, one end of Slide fixes at the bottom of the camera with large lens. It fixes there directly on Standard Plate and Standard Plate goes on and off the tripod mount. Will such movement not damage the Anchor (thread)?
I shall be grateful if someone may direct me to some link that shows how the camera with a slide and anchor clip fixed on the bottom of camera work with Peak Design tripod.
Thanks
