To complain about a character that's similar but plays a bit differently would be to say the styles from MKX were dead slots. To be fair people played Meta stuff, but they did find interesting things about different styles after patches/over time. I'm not gonna say I'm super for clones, but if they had it setup as more of a "style" type system where this version of peach has better close up normals while daisy can control space better or vice versa while still retaining the general feel of the character I'm all for that. Also that roster is pretty large, I'm fine with a more or less the same roster to be honest, as long as they refine each character to be solid then that's a great launch point with the doors open for more in the future. Would you rather another Marvel Infinite with a subpar at best roster that was more focused on dlc than actually giving the consumer value for the initial purchase? We've already seen what that does.
Matt, my dude, Nintendo don't need to show games that aren't ready to be shown. They'll just pop up a Nintendo Direct in a few months or whenever they've got something tangible to show.

people just want things to be rushed. But be PERFECT THO. And if it's not people complain. WHY DID YOU RUSH IT THO. But.... but.... This is the world we live in.
Honestly young link should just be a pallet swap of toon link. People are furious b/c they are taking up slots where they could just be skins. Entire. Slots.
I'm not gonna have the same slot argument from 2006 but I'll go over it quick and say I seriously doubt that is how the game is developed. I can't imagine sakurai sitting in a chair thinking "okie doke only room for one more character. Hmmm wonder red or dark pit what to do". Popping a unique character into a game isn't quite as simple as making a 3rd link or a 2nd pikachu lol. I get it looks shitty and its pretty lame and all that stuff but its not the end of the world and certainly not worth getting upset about. If street fighter 5 had a roster of 70 characters I'd be able to live with ryu evil ryu and young ryu
Why the hell was Woolie trying to say Ultimate is just an update to Smash 4 near the end, way after tons and tons of confirmation that this is a whole new title?
Because he was upset that it didn't have EVERYTHING he wanted, 6 months from launch, and needed to justify it to himself, because he knows it's stupid to feel like he did about it.
I think its because people are so used to such drastic changes from one smash to the other that, even with all the changes, this game still seems like it looks, feels is presented like, and plays a lot more like smash wiiu than 64 does to melee, melee does to brawl, and brawl does to smash wiiu. Like it doesn't really have the same drastic overhaul from one game to the other that the other series games have, though that's not to say its very different from smash wiiu in its own right.
Jason That's a he'll of an assumption, Matt and pat seemed more disappointed than anyone. I mean look at it this way as the person above said people are used to drastic changes beyond new installments of the series. You also have to consider things like marvel vs capcom 3 and Ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 exist so it's natural for woolie to assume this is a version of the same game with tweaks like umvc.
From a competitive standpoint, the new Smash looks absolutely incredible. The Invitational gives you such a better picture of the game. The directional air dodges do signal the return of Wave Dashing, but unlike Melee where these were unique by character momentum physics, pretty much everyone is able to do it effectively, which is made even more insane by the fact that you can do literally anything out of a wave dash now. There was are also some obvious changes to character details, such as a general increase of frame data from most of the characters who needed it, slight changes in moveset like Ganon's which gives him large hitboxes, some increased speed for characters like Ike, etc. This game is definitely gonna be the most competitive since Melee, and is likely to be better overall due to a far more balanced roster. I'm hoping the changes made before it releases are marginal, but I'm absolute in love with the core mechanics.
nintendoluigi Totally possible. Nostalgia is a helluva thing. That said, I do think Melee fans (the non-rabid ones at least) as a whole are probably gonna be pretty happy with this game.
+GoldenHibiki I completely agree. This is exactly what I wanted from this new Smash. I'm not gonna be super competetive but I want the game to compensate my natural talent for having skills in gaming. (I have no talent other than being natural good at games, yay, worthless!). The Wolf changes was great for me. It looks like he will be one of my mains. As it currently stands, I am very very satisfied with everything I saw from this new Smash game. Amazing stuff. It's gonna be the best Smash for me and the game is gonna last MANY MANY years until the next Nintendo Switch replacement get a new Smash. I expect a lot of DLC characters so while we only got two and a half new character this time, there is no reason for us to assume we won't get any more. I fully expect something from XC2. We did get every single character ever made in this Smash so we are literally not allowed to complain about the current lack of new characters. Ridley is the best one they could ever have implemented. Amazing.
well, players have been saying wavedashing is a no go, and more like wavelanding since you can't air dodge instantly out of a jump. Bayonetta is still broken seen in the invitational and many players are expecting big changes since sakurai adressed the build as not final and saw a few bugs during the invetational. fingers crossed.
Franchezco Lamont Bayo on a low ceiling green greens against Ridley's giant hurtbox is still broken, but looked like Zero was able to escape the combos easier than in 4 on a more standard stage with a smaller character. She'll still be good for sure, but I'm not suuuper worried
That was just Other M, which was really out of character for her. She hates Ridley, but she doesn't go into catatonic shock everytime she sees him anymore.
I would normally say that Smash fans are never happy with what they get, even if they begged for it for years, but... Now I'm starting to see that people are just never happy in general when it comes to Smash. Thank you for tempering your expectations, Woolie.
Did anyone else catch the guy saying that when Link doesn't have any damage percent, he fires a sword beam on his regular attacks? Small detail but one I definitely appreciate and I think adds a small amount of playability to Link
If you take a look at the direct feed capture of DBFZ Switch that's out there on the web, you'll see that the game actually runs beautifully at a rock solid 60 FPS. The game is actually really lightweight anyway despite appearances.
I feel like you guys' disappointment in the lack of new characters is pretty premature. There's still 6 months before the game comes out. Plenty of time to announce more characters. Not to mention...there's probably going to be DLC.
I mean I’m under the impression the Switch will be Nintendo’s de-facto console for a good long while, and by establishing Smash now, it opens up the possibility to have further support from them in additional content for the future. I totally agree that the lack of new is premature. If anything I’m just happy it’s more than just a Smash WiiU port and includes so much more. There’s time till the actual release, and they displayed a lot of their cast, so that also promotes the possibility that they’re near-done with the main cast and can focus on new additional content since the target primary cast is done or near-done. TL;DR - Basically, I think they’re judging a book by its cover right now and it makes me sad.
That was my thought since Nintendo actually started doing DLC. "Release Smash and Mario Kart right off the bat, then spend the entire console generation releasing DLC for them."
When they tell you specifically "hey don't get too excited about new characters there won't be a lot" I'm not expecting a lot. I'm expecting 5, counting Ridley, Daisy, and Inkling. (Before DLC at least)
DarthEnderX My dude saying a live reaction is premature is silly, of course it's premature, it's a live reaction of their current moods and opinions. As they have more time to think about it they'll come to the same conclusion.
Perfect shielding actually is different. In previous games perfect shielding kinda acted like anime fighters where blocking at frame perfect timing would negate chip damage (or shield damage in this case). In this game perfect shielding occurs for a split second after you release shield and acts like Street Fighter 3's Parry mechanic. Basically any attack you block with a perfect shield can be countered with an attack of equal value or lower. Say you perfect shield a forward smash, doing so will let you counter with a forward smash or anything with less lag than a forward smash.
"An Armored Core sequel has been rumored for ages, but has failed to appear, so a breakaway group headed by former AC developer Kenichiro Tsukuda is stepping into the fray. His vision can basically be summarized as "Armored Core with destructible environments," and while it doesn't have quite the same amount of crazy customization as FromSoftware's games, you can still carry a host of weapons, from laser swords to bazookas. You can also unlock new mechs, pick armor, and customize for durability, mobility, and more. "
He'd make for a perfect sort of control character akin to snake or duck hunt. He's able to throw bombs, place them, have them blow up in regular ball explosions, have them do that weird cross thing and diagonal x explosion thing, he can carry them, charge them up to be bigger for larger radius explosion. He has stuff going on and on top of this he could maybe use blocks from his games as barriers that he throws for all we know too to further push the control aspect. Not to mention Bomberman's multitude of animal buddies and the various characters he could borrow abilities from as well. On top of this he could also do like how pacman does for namco and represent konamis older style games. He could have gradius based moves as well like how pacman has gallaga attacks, he could release a jumping frogger onto the stage that moves around in ways that forces enemies into positions for his bombs, he could use the gun from contra as a sort of basic harassment gun like fox or falco. Maybe even a reference to something stupid like Parodius for jokes. Like he could throw one of the Parodius paper airplanes and little blue men could jump off it as a form of aerial harassment. They could even reference 3d classics like legendary ninja goemon too. You could even get a cute Snake codex call about it. Even if you dont want to have him represent konami like that since he wasnt original konami, you could have him represent old hudson games like how duck hunt represents something more specific like light gun games. He could use an enemy from adventure island or the skateboard. He could deflect projectiles like how the kid in the bonk series did. Maybe even like have a regular attack referencing something from a lesser known one off game like how pacman can pull out Mappy in one of his attacks. Heck Hudson worked on some nintendo games I think so you could even reference that. Like they worked on a lot of nintendo's games so they could actually reference that they worked on them if they really wanted to. Heck you could get a cute Kid icarus god speak conversation joke about it. Maybe even a star fox codex about it too.
I love how they thought Sakurai would just reveal every new character for the game in this video. Also how can you not remember Star Wolf being in Zero when you fight him several times throughout the game?
Here's my theory. Norman being in this game is supposed to trick us into believing he's the main villain. But, he's not. Who is the one that first brought together the Sinister 6? Doctor Octopus. He's the one that Mr.Negative is talking about when he says he wants him alive. The guy that appeared at the end was actually Hobgoblin. Yuri did say that 5 of Spider-Man's enemies escaped. The 5th one could be Hobgoblin.
Ridley picks up the character and throws them on top of Samus who has been perpetually pinned to the ship. Final Smash continues, Ridley still gets to kill Samus.
pat looks at all the characters from the legends and history of xenoblade 2 talking and fighting in the war from the history of xenoblade 2. "is this a sequel or a prequel?"
So, there was a popular leak recently that said Ice Climbers, Ridley and Simon Belmont were getting added. And with Ridley being confirmed, and Konami clearly being back in with Snake and Bomberman, I’m really hoping the Simon thing is also true. He’s my #1 character pick.
You're missing the most important aspect of all bringbackprerenderedbackgrounds. With Simon, Pit and Mega Man all in the same game, we'll only be one Captain N costume for the Mii Gunner away from finally fulfilling the prophecy!
I think they should milk it at least a little. Like I said, a Mii Gunner outfit would appropriate(when they want to reference something, but don't actually want to put anything of substance in the game, they go with Mii costumes). Besides that, I'd want to see King Hippo and Eggplant Wizard as Assist Trophies.
Holy shit, it does not take any time to bring Characters like Lucina or Dark Pit back. They were literally already made, and transferring them would take an absolutely inconsequential amount of time. If you were to not bring back Dark Pit, Lucina, and Roy, you would have maybe, MAYBE 1/50th of a brand new character done. It's so needless and pointless and just removes characters for no good reason besides "muh salty and wonder red though". Just because they're on the character select screen doesn't mean they took away your precious slot. And instead of them being alt costumes, what the actual hell is the harm in just having them there as a selectable character with tweaked stat? I guarantee the implementation of Pichu and Young Link is going to take an inconsequential amount of time as well. In short; stop being piss babies, Matt and Pat. Though specifically Matt.
Chad Serrant They're still considered Clones, no matter how you try to sugarcoat it with "different stats". LOTS of people would rather see Clones disappear for good.
Oh yeah, lots of people. Sure. How about you stop sugarcoating your salt, Paulo? How many times do people have to teach slotbungos like yourself this lesson?
People wouldn't be happier if clones were gone, they wouldn't notice because they don't care. If somebody is happy Daisy is in then great, I'd rather have them than nothing.
About smash, Nintendo is always notoriously secretive. What they showed at E3 isn't the final game. There likely will be one or two other characters they wait until later in the year to reveal. They will also have around five months to fine tune things, and make additions.
With a Smash roster this big, I really wonder what it means for the future of the series. There is zero chance this is going to be the last Smash game. Maybe the last one for a little while, but there's no way it will be the last one. What happens with Smash 6? Will TONS of characters then be cut to make way for newer ones? Will more characters be added on top of all of the ones already in the game? I figure by that point, there's plenty of development time after all these characters have been put back into the game. Even if returning, the characters coming back are pretty much 'new' characters in terms of being coded and all that, I don't know if a new Smash game would mean new coding for every single character, but I am really curious where it will go.
@@TheGrizzlo503 Maybe but these guys had a special dynamic and have been together making videos for years. Ive been into them since 2014. Now imagine, 5 years, new video every week Weekly podcast Occasional stream Social Media Conventions And when they come to town you can chill and hangout. Heck ive seen more of these guys than some of my own family. I have a Skullgirls X Chibi Best Friends poster framed in my room (before it was taken down from SharkRobot) and not because im the most loyal diehard fan but because I liked it and think its cool. So. Point being try to understand the perspective of long time fans.
As much as I love Smash, and like that was a huge chunk of the show was dedicated to it, (RIDLEY) I wanted some more games. Animal Crossing, Metroid Prime 4, Mario Maker, and other surprises. Oh well, next year.
DrScaphandre Actually, they're planning on revealing more games during the fall when Super Mario Party is set to come out. Can't show everything, otherwise it WOULD take way too long, and most of the games probably would look like shit...
It's confirmed that there's also hazardless forms for stages. For instance, Frigate Orpheon won't rotate, Lylat Cruise won't tilt, the platforms on Kongo Falls won't shift when you step on them (and the Barrel Cannon is gone)...
I am satisfied with their reactions. I am now complete. I got teary from the Fire Emblem: Three Houses trailer. Holy shit it looks amazing!! I'm so glad!! Also, I have been waiting for a mecha game for many years and Nintendo fucking delivers! Daemon x Machina looks so metal!! I'm stoked about Super Mario Party too. I was very much hoping to see it this year. Smash is just.... YEEEEAAAAHHH!!! Best Smash ever! Every single character ever in one game! AND frigging Ridley!! I fully expect several DLC characters for it too. I expect XC2 character DLC. The XC2 prequel DLC looks awesome. Definitely a must have for me. I've heard it's gonna be sold seperately, so you won't have to buy the season pass to get it. Great! I only care about the story DLC. Octoling expansion for Splatoon 2 tomorrow. Looking forward to it. Bought Hollow Knight earlier today. What a awesome game. Nintendo deliver more than enough for me but I understand people's disappointment. I never expected any MP4 & Bayo 3 to be shown after Nintendo stated they would focus on games being released this year for their first party exclusive games. We will see more of the 2019 games at a later time. I'm all good for the rest of the year! And the entirety of the next year too looking at Nintendo's lineup.
"youtube is really bad at (fitting the screen)" imagine not having a different overlay, or not using one of a number of browser extensions which let you make youtube fill the window at any size
i haven't played a smash game since melee on gamecube but i would really like to get a switch to play this new one. it looks awesome! so crazy to see a "wrecking crew" stage, like i doubt most people even know what that game is these days lol.
Why do people complain about "taking up slots" as if there's a finite amount of slots. Clone characters don't even take that much time to implement either.
A 3rd person mech game with Shoji Kawamori mech designing(who originally did design for the old Armored Core games sans 4 and 5) that looks like it's worth playing? Done. A New Fire Emblem that's looks like it's doing something new with the gameplay? Done. DBFZ on Switch? So Done. Smash? Umm... Well, more power to those who are excited for that.
Note that characters like Dr. Mario and Young Link are NOT marked as Echo characters. Also I noticed Pichu can cause a stun during the trailer against Marth. And Ganondwarf has armor moves along with Ike >w>
I know there is still time, but I really wanted the Champions to enter the roster. Daruk, Urbosa, Rivali, Mipha (and her weird fish parts), all would have made great Smash characters.
Sub-Zero being *slightly* more "family friendly" maybe? An ice ninja just seems to fit than more than a Hell ninja. Of course neither make sense for that, but it's the best theory I got.
"That's not new" they say, talking over the description of the changes
Literally ALL THE WARRIORS ARE HERE!!

people just want things to be rushed. But be PERFECT THO. And if it's not people complain. WHY DID YOU RUSH IT THO. But.... but....
This is the world we live in.

I'll never understand people being furious about Link Young Link and Toon Link but being perfectly fine with Ryu Ken Akuma and Sean
I hope YL gets masks in some way
Because they're not Ryu, Evil Ryu, and Violent Ryu
Them being the same person (sorta) is kind of the issue
Nah, now that Link is changed, Young Link is for people that wanna play OG Link
Jason
That's a he'll of an assumption, Matt and pat seemed more disappointed than anyone.
@@isaacargesmith8217 true
So in other words, rabbid melee players are going to call it too casual and play melee over it.
Woolie, Pokemon hasn't been on a grid since XY
well not exatly true. The only way to not move on a grid in xy was rollerscating. SuMo wasn't on a grid though.
Yeah I phrased it wrong. Everything after XY was off the grid. ORAS were free-roam with the sneaking and all.
In awe that Samus didn't just go catatonic upon seeing Ridley. How is this game even canon if nobody is in character? Jeez.
That was just Other M, which was really out of character for her. She hates Ridley, but she doesn't go into catatonic shock everytime she sees him anymore.

Anyone disappointed by this e3 should remember that Smash was announced at some random direct.
Plenty more direct incoming this year too.
I would normally say that Smash fans are never happy with what they get, even if they begged for it for years, but... Now I'm starting to see that people are just never happy in general when it comes to Smash.
Thank you for tempering your expectations, Woolie.
Literally every character every and people will still complain.
@@TheNexDude and some new ones
Did anyone else catch the guy saying that when Link doesn't have any damage percent, he fires a sword beam on his regular attacks? Small detail but one I definitely appreciate and I think adds a small amount of playability to Link
Also on Pat's comment about Melee feeling rushed and broken; is it confirmed that Pat is bad at Melee?
He isn't wrong entirely. Melee is a great game but characters like game and watch and roy are evidence of a rushed game
If you take a look at the direct feed capture of DBFZ Switch that's out there on the web, you'll see that the game actually runs beautifully at a rock solid 60 FPS. The game is actually really lightweight anyway despite appearances.
I mean the PC port can run at 60 FPS on a toaster. Anyone who thinks the Switch couldn't handle it was crazy.
As to be expected. Fighting games under 60FPS is actually unacceptable.

I feel like you guys' disappointment in the lack of new characters is pretty premature.
There's still 6 months before the game comes out. Plenty of time to announce more characters. Not to mention...there's probably going to be DLC.
DarthEnderX My guess is it'll be anywhere between 5-10 new characters.
DarthEnderX
My dude saying a live reaction is premature is silly, of course it's premature, it's a live reaction of their current moods and opinions.
As they have more time to think about it they'll come to the same conclusion.
Congratulations Ridley. You did what Bowser and Wily could never do.

Guys you're letting your unwarranted disappointment cloud your vision. THERE'S NO KART IN SUPER MARIO PARTY! BLOODSPORTS ARE BACK!
Apparently I'm the only person in the world who recognized A Link Between Worlds Zelda right away.
Super Smash Bros 4.5 ALL THE WARRIORS.
I mean technically, MK _did_ do this in Armageddon; if a fighter wasn’t in that game, it was because they didn’t exist in the series yet.
I really don't understand why people are so mad about Bomberman. He doesn't have enough going for him to make a full character.
bringbackprerenderedbackgrounds 2k18 personally I still think he's just boring of a pick
Loving Fool Bomberman easily does with all power ups. All of Captain Falcon's moves have nothing to do with his games.
I love how they thought Sakurai would just reveal every new character for the game in this video. Also how can you not remember Star Wolf being in Zero when you fight him several times throughout the game?
Venom is confirmed by Insomniac to NOT be in the game
Falconator Oh that's fine
Venom has been used way too much anyway.

In the idea of dedicated rivals, Ridley's cinematic smash should just be him blasting Samus regardless of the opponent's character pick.
kaizerdeath12 Well it is her ship mid flight. Who else would be piloting it?
Ridley picks up the character and throws them on top of Samus who has been perpetually pinned to the ship. Final Smash continues, Ridley still gets to kill Samus.

So, there was a popular leak recently that said Ice Climbers, Ridley and Simon Belmont were getting added. And with Ridley being confirmed, and Konami clearly being back in with Snake and Bomberman, I’m really hoping the Simon thing is also true. He’s my #1 character pick.
I don't know if this is true but I'm gonna believe it super hard and hope something happens
Thats kinda why I wish bosses from Subspace Emmisary would come back.

Its amazing how people still think character slots are an actual thing
It's doubly strange how Matt thinks Toon Link and Young Link work exactly like Link.
If somebody is happy Daisy is in then great, I'd rather have them than nothing.
the perfect shield before happened when you press the shield button, now it happens when you release it
About smash, Nintendo is always notoriously secretive. What they showed at E3 isn't the final game. There likely will be one or two other characters they wait until later in the year to reveal. They will also have around five months to fine tune things, and make additions.
Laughing Man probably even more too.
It's pretty sobering watching this back now, knowing that just a few months later these guys will no longer be together.
Time destroys everything.
