I mean, this is Breath of the Wild Link, who can canonically deflect lasers with a pot lid (seriously, it's outright stated in the DLC to be the original reason why he was promoted to Zelda's bodyguard in the first place).

Casual reminder that the god-tier pink ball has survived and will resolve BOTH of the Smash universes great calamities now.
That was Dedede and Sonic that resolved the first one. Kirby and a few others woke up after Taboo's instadeath attack thanks to Dedede's medals. Somehow he had known about and planned for the Subspace invasion, Sonic was the one to clip those instadeath wings on Taboo so everyone had a fighting chance..
I've decided I'm going to play through the story mode with a LORE TEAM, specifically...
KIRBY - As the main character duh
SHULK - Cause he feels super guilty that he saw the attack coming but couldn't stop it
SONIC - Cause he was the one to hurt the previous giant god monster TABUU the most so he has experiance
SNAKE - The box was clearly a decoy do you really think an espionage agent as good as him would be caught so easily

@@shupasopni Sonic didn't actually save anybody, he just helped in the fight against Tabuu. Dedede saved Luigi, Ness, and (inadvertantly) Kirby, even at the cost of putting himself at mortal risk. Kirby characters are fucking cool.

The brash way to put it is "No one wants to play with characters who are lame" thus translates into "Why would I play this game" if the roster is lame. Look at Playstation All Stars and MVCi, they got some cool folks but are overwhelmed with PS Jobbers and MVCi removed so many NOT jobbers. At least MVC3 pulled out the Wild cards like Okami and Phoenix Wright.

3:17 R.O.B. technically counts because, while a toy, he was specifically created alongside video games for the explicit purpose of interacting with them. He was basically created as a character effecting gameplay with the only difference being that he was actually in the room rather than onscreen.
Which is why he's an oddball. Like they said, R.O.B. wasn't a video game character prior to Smash. And that's true. He wasn't. He was a controller in robot form. Just because he interacts with video games doesn't make him a video game character.
@@drudle He was still created to be related to video games from his inception though. It's not like he came out as a toy character completely separate from video games first and then appeared in them later. That's what sets him apart from meme suggestions like Goku or Shrek.

Characters being spirits in the game doesn't deconfirm them for being playable characters for Smash. Spirits are the new trophies and there's some spirits of K.rool, Wii-fit, etc.
Technically theres' no hard rule about Assist trophies being ineligable as well: Palkia/the moon are both assists/pokball summons and stage hazards, after all
You might recognize pokeball summons and stage hazards as things that are not playable.

i have a theory as to why kirby was the sole survivor - kirby is probably the best beginner character (at least in my opinion). New players who want to check out the single-player mode can learn how to play starting with kirby, slowly making their way through the roster as they progress through the campaign.
Also Kirby's neutral B is probably a good tool for learning other character's moves without having to unlock them.
This was confirmed by sakurai, he wanted a simple character for the player to start with

That is the thing about smash, the more your bring in to the fold the more people want to see in it. Like the desire to see more playable characters just keeps increasing the more sakurai actually bring in officially. It's like a feedback loop gone wrong. Pat did remind me how much a selfish prick I was for wanting certain characters in it after he gives you a scenario of the game with all these, once thought to be outrageous, cross overs come reality that is already in game. It's like the kid in christmas or birthday still wanting more even though he got everything he wished for initially.

As someone who hates leaks and didn’t look at them, I am totally fine with this game. Sure I am sad about some characters being assist trophies and the lack of stadium games but I am not making a storm on Twitter about it.
Fun fact, the grinch leak, which wasnt about the grinch being in smash but that there were renders from that movie coming up around the leak itself, was almost certainly created by mariotehplumber, aka the hundred rosalina amiibo horder who bought over four thousand dollars worth of amiibos just so fans couldnt have them out of SPITE for the characters, fans and nintendo.

To be fair, you can know the leak existed, but have no clue why it's called something as bizarre as "the Grinch leak." I didn't know why it was called that for a while, because I dismissed it as soon as I heard it had Isaac in it. I will never believe Isaac is in the game until I am literally playing as him.

Yes I agree but this is Nintendo's fault really. Yes Smash casuals are crazy ungrateful and now that the doors are open someone is gonna be left behind. HOWEVER its Nintendos fault that Smash Ultimate will NEVER have something that S64 and Melee had and that's the joy of character discovery. Had the characters been tucked away for discovery it wouldve saved the whole situation. Nintendo (And not Sakurai) sacrificed mystery and discovery for HYPE. 6 MONTHS OF HYPE OPPOSED TO 1-4 MONTHS OF WONDER "IS MY BABY/WAIFU IN SMASH?"

Not sure where they're getting that Spirits or Mii Costumes deconfirm characters. K. Rool has a spirit and Chrom has a costume in Ultimate, so it really doesn't matter at this point.

Rob is a video game character. Are you going to try and argue that Skylanders characters aren't video game characters cause they're plastic bullshit before you put them on the portal? It's a video game peripheral that only interacts with one piece of software, and it has a character within that software.
That's a bad comparison because R.O.B. isn't a character within his associated software.
Skylanders are video game characters that are unlocked/activated via the figures. R.O.B. is a video game controller, essentially. R.O.B. came with Gyromite and Stack Up, neither of which had him as a character. Digitally, he never appeared in a game until Smash.
It's like having the Power Glove as a character.
