    I remember sparring with damine before he won the WBO title 2 weeks in Rimini it used to be a holiday place for the English we trained in a big football stadium 6 rounds a day it was good sparring I never tuck seconds no one spoke English his trainers just kept telling him bellissimo and avanto I flew from Manchester to Germany than changed plane and landed in bologan got picked up by some mafia in a black Mercedes no English again just a sign with my name on they tuck me to a Italian hotel no English food trained every afternoon then after I had all day to myself. after 2 weeks they give me some money for train to airport and taxi then flew straight to Manchester then got taxi home to Leeds £60 pounds a day but one of my better experiences it was really good experience sparring with damini and he did very well as a professional think he trains the Italian amateur squad

      However, for your information hinting that the italian guy that picked you up at the airport was part of a crime org (see your comment :"got picked up by some mafia") might sound funny to you but keep in mind that it's pretty offensive for us.
      Shit like : "oh that italian guy drives a black mercedes wearing shades - he must be part of Mafia" equals to say "oh that guy comes from UK, he must be a drunk fecker who's going to wake up covered by his own vomit tomorrow morning".

    Damiani
    Was a genius with his fast hands. But he lacked a bit of power. But he was good. He would have been big trouble to several famous champions. Ali would have trouble with him. Ali liked those big slow guys that was easy to hit. Frankenstein kind of guys.

      @johnulmer1622 4 года назад

      @Allen Wilson I'm interested in your take on Damiani's fight with Mercer.
      Also, I think what he is getting at is Ali's dominance over slow footed sluggers. And anyone who is not a "casual" knows that styles make fights. Guys that were built to give Ali fits, were tailor made for Foreman. Especially Norton. It's pretty common knowledge that he had a tendency to freeze against big hitters. He had no such fear against Ali.

    • @craigkleber9316

      Damiani is throwing bunches of punches from all directions. Stevenson is in trouble. Also you can see Damiani’s body is able to push Stevenson around when they get close. Before round 3 Stevenson looks gassed. The final round is a mess for discipline but the constant combinations are confusing Stevenson- he can’t cope with being on the defensive. Great fight.

    Kudos to Damiani for winning this bout. But the real story here, IMO, is that Stevenson is a shot fighter. He doesn't display any of strength, speed, precision of body movement and crushing power that were his hallmarks during the 1970s. Or, if not that, then Stevenson entered this fight hopelessly out of shape.

    • @onetruehitman7623

      It’s possible he realized here that he couldn’t use his athleticism anymore as he did previously. He even lost 4 out of 5 fights that he was in during 1983. Although in 1984 he started using more veteran savyness and became really good again though he wasn’t in his prime anymore (he beat Olympic gold medalist Tyrell Biggs, won Friendship Games gold, and even won the 1986 world championships)
