Congas + bongos, great videos. Congrats, canonEOSr very nice video pic quality upgrade. Nice comfy bongo stand, want one. I still hold bongos between knees and reach for the congas
Eric, loove this one!!! I do alot of funk, house, deep house lounge, R&B lounge, smooth jazz lounge, chill house lounge music so this pattern works soooooooo well along with my crazy as you call go go playing yes I do that with traditional techniques & freestyle playing waaaay funky Eric Perez loove it plus when I have a video of me doing it you gotta check it out!!
HeyEric, just been listening to Armando's great and stunningly superb bongo work on la Fuente Del Ritmo from Caravanserai. Maybe, possibly and quite probably the most sublime and amazing bongo playing since bongos were invented..?
Eric, I am really enjoying the variety of material you are putting out. Trying this new material is really helping my playing and some of the material is making into my general repertoire. I am sure this the same for many others. Keep it going, it’s great what you are doing... I have a request :) I am enjoying exploring 6/8 on two congas currently and wondered if there was any good transitions to and from 4/4 and 6/8 Cuban style rhythms you could demonstrate. This happens sometimes within samba, switching between a 4/4 samba swing into a short 6/8 section and back again. It sounds great and I’d like to be able to do this in a Cuban rhythm setting.
I like the 12 funk patterns in 4 minutes. Is it possible to present at least the first one step by step? I would love to learn it. I also like about 5 others but I'll settle for learning the first for now. Thanks
Great video like always.. Just a heads up.. Try changing your front lead camera angle so you not strait shooting. Away from the glare of the bongos hardware so possible to see you hand hitting the bongos heads.. God bless
Thanks for another great video Eric. If anyone can listen to that beat without moving some part of their body, they must be dead. ;) Q: What bongo stand do you use? Maybe you can add it to the gear list in the description? Thanks again brother!
Hi Eric. What stand are you using for the Bongo? I am looking for a setup like that with 3 Tumbadoras and a Bongo on a stand but playing in the seated position. Thank you
When I started playing bongos with the band I stated, “ now with tasteful bongo fills” I was told tasteful and bongos couldn’t be used in the same sentence.
Felipe Hernandez . I can play my main drum and still tilt a little bit. Or I can have my tumba on the feet and play conga without and tilt. Mostly use rubber feet on both so I don’t have to “ hang on “ to drums with legs, and just concentrate on playing.
A Percussion Life Wow !!! The things we never see ! Lol Someone suggested cuts of wood under each one. Can you tell me why you use trays versus anything else and what type of trays? I’ve got Remo Fiberskyn heads and they sound very high pitched! I’m having a hard time tuning them. Help !!
Do you always play with your ring? I have to take mine off so I don't break my finger and don't get the ckick from my ring hitting the rim or the head.
Thank you. We should try hooking up sometime and share percussion knowledge sometime. My name is Greg Allen, but my musician friends call me ChilleG, and used to play with a professional jazz group called Max Groove. If you'd like to check out one of his most famous songs, RUclips a song called Fiesta Sol. I think you'll like it. Keep on doing what you're doing!
Thank you! Just picked up a pearl set and this was very helpful

Excelente leccion maestro, tienes algún tutorial para acompañar ritmo de rock, latín rock, Ska en bongoe y congas? Saludos desde Colombia.

HeyEric, just been listening to Armando's great and stunningly superb bongo work on la Fuente Del Ritmo from Caravanserai. Maybe, possibly and quite probably the most sublime and amazing bongo playing since bongos were invented..?
You familiar with Master Henry Gibson? He's funky.

MiTimbal Videos appreciate the input brother!!
You know I like Drums
Ive always treated bongos as just really high pitched quintos in patterns. Not sure if that's right but its gotten me by.
Theeeeeere you are! ¿donde estabas? 😆
John F. Kelly hahaha maaaaan just keepin busy haha
Thanks for another great video Eric. If anyone can listen to that beat without moving some part of their body, they must be dead. ;)

"We got to have a funky good time!" would James Brown say to this video. 😎
El Comandante 😂😂😂 oh man!
Without joking man, your precicion to play is incredibel. Every same stroke sound identic.
I got the exercise but what kind of funky you recommend to rehearsal with ?
When I started playing bongos with the band I stated, “ now with tasteful bongo fills” I was told tasteful and bongos couldn’t be used in the same sentence.
Kelly Lambert,
Since your using the rubber feet. Any problems with tilting your main drum while your playing ?
Felipe Hernandez . I can play my main drum and still tilt a little bit. Or I can have my tumba on the feet and play conga without and tilt. Mostly use rubber feet on both so I don’t have to “ hang on “ to drums with legs, and just concentrate on playing.
Eric , I noticed you always have your drums on the floor. Do you put anything under each one and what is it ??
Yes... I have serving trays under each drum.
A Percussion Life
Wow !!! The things we never see ! Lol
Someone suggested cuts of wood under each one. Can you tell me why you use trays versus anything else and what type of trays?
I’ve got Remo Fiberskyn heads and they sound very high pitched! I’m having a hard time tuning them. Help !!
Felipe Hernandez. Myself, I use LP rubber conga feet. Lifts the drums up around an inch or more, lets the sounds out even if floor is carpeted.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hi master I have question how slow do I start practicing this exercise to my tempo with the metronome or a drum
Base on the back ?
If slow it down it's hard down South trap song lol like lil Boosie songor even juvenile or 666 mafia
Porque no lo haces en español?
Do you always play with your ring? I have to take mine off so I don't break my finger and don't get the ckick from my ring hitting the rim or the head.
Normally yes.... the ring I use is a “rubber ring”... or an “athletic ring”... so it causes no injury or damage to either my finger or the drums.

Question for you: Is the funk you're referring to more Latin Funk based or more R&B based funk?
Notification gang lol
