Zakk is the man.. Nothing or no one can change that... Only he could come that close 2 sounding as good as the original............ WE LOVE U ZAKK......
now this is my kinda cover. stay true to the song as it was written. inevitably you're going to put your own style to it but don't kill it. Zakk is great!
I downloaded this a while back when I was trying to get a hold of every song Zakk ever appeared on and from what I remember when looking all this stuff up, was that Zakk only plays the guitar solo on this...nothing else
The Singer is Lou Gramm from Foreigner This is from the album Tribute To Led Zeppelin: Stairway To Heaven "Black Dog", "Stairway To Heaven Solo", "Going To California", "Good Times Bad Times", and "Kashmir" all played by Zakk Wylde
The lead singer is Lou Gramm, the former lead singer of Foreigner. The band includes, Lou Gramm lead singer, Zakk Wylde lead guitar, Nick Catanese(Black Label Society) rhythm guitar, Jeff Pilson(Dokken) Bass, and Jason Bonham Drums. This is from the album....A Led Zepplin Tribute: Stairway to Heaven(1997).
this is a great song, he keeps it pretty much the same because nothing needs to be changed i mean its stairway to heaven, if im gonna listen to stairway to heaven, i wanna listen to zepplin, but if i would HAVE to listen to a cover this one is probs it.
@swanclipper Jason Bonham and Zakk Wylde played together on three songs on the tribute album. "Goin to California, Good Times Bad Times and the Stairway To Heaven". But, Bonham has never been in BLS. This was mainly for the tribute album only.
the music company can make a really COOL music video out of this cover : imagine zakk sitting on the stairway and playing the clean riff and then imagine him playing the solo on a clowd on the sky with the angels above him singing "ou ou ,ou ou " just listen to the solo and imagine that
you can definately tell that Zakk is playing the guitar and yah it stated in the info that he isn't singing for those who missed that part. I do seem to wonder what it would be like if Zakk had done the vocals here as well i think it would have been interesting either way.
People need to stop going sick at the fact that its not Led Zeppelin, it's a cover. People don't expect to be as good as the original, hoverever its a good COVER
@dogdirt2000 He also played along with Derek Sherinian's album, Molecular Heinosity, very progressive and not what you would think he actually would play.. with that, this could easily be possible
@PAULD1887 Dude seriously, check out the solo and the super wide vibrato, the aggressivness of the picking etc...It is Zakk that´s for sure. Listen carefully at 6:19: no other guitarist vibrates likes that, it is pretty unique to Zakk
Got to give any band credit that tries to take on this song. The best rock ballad ever made. With that said, it's not bad but no where near Zeppelins. Listen to this one and then listen to Zeps right after. Zeps version gives me chills every time. It's far superior technically and Plants singing is of course stellar. And honestly, if this is Zakk, it's not very complimentary. In the beginning, his playing sounds to mechanical and without feeling.
@PAULD1887 I have to agree with you here. It may be a Zakk-esque solo, but it can't be him. The only way this would be him is if he did this before he was famous. It doesn't have the same strength or energy of anything the Zakk has done, and it certainly has a completely and utterly different tone to anything Zakk's used throughout the last 2 decades.
More than 10 years ago, I had heard this cover before the original and till today, The original version doesn’t sound right me now. The notes just seem perfect on this cover. Anyone know where I can download a high quality audio file for this?
Wow! U may the only person on the planet to not hear the original first lol. That must be a head trip for sure lmao. At least for me it is. I can't imagine being in ur situation 😂
Actually it is. Stairway to heaven tribute 1997 album. Lou Gramm from foreigner and Zakk. I would have to dig my cd out but im pretty sure this is that song. I know they done it together..Peace
Definatly Zakk playing the guitar no doubt about that, as soon as I heared the solo I knew it was Zakk playing. Zakk also did a Good times Bad times cover, it's here on youtube, but the one I found has shit quality but he again played faithfully to Led Zepp and did a damn good job of it as well, atleast IMO he did.
@75SilentWarrior the point of a cover is to play the same thing and make it soud different yet still the same. It doesnt have to be played like JP did it to be good
Well let those who nothing about Zakk believe that it isn't Zakk, and let those of us who appreciate him and can realise when it is him KNOW it is him. Save the arguments, just listen to some amazing music?
Does anybody remember that back in 2003, when we downloaded songs through WinMx, there was a song called "Metallica - Stairway to Heaven", and it was apparently live in studio? I was wondering whether it was legit, or if somebody simply dubbed audience sounds onto a normal cover of that song. I remember being surprised at how accurate the cover was, and the lead singer definitely wasn't Hetfield, but somebody that sounded exactly like Robert Plant.
@rivermoonrise i can't speak for the other guy but.. i think he meant vibrato on guitar. that was what i thought when i read comment. Zakk is known for that. Is this Lou Gramm? great vocal too.
@evertonmadrugaful correction: Robert Plant "used to" hit high notes and treble at the same time. Not any more. Too bad though. He was the best man. Now, wrt ZW, that live version of "machine gun man" was as good an acoustic only rock song as I have ever heard. He sings and plays awesome on that tune and it was just him live. Really talented. Too bad the words aren't very good. That could have been a super classic song.
I don't recall using the word 'singing' anywhere in that post, do you see it? I'm saying this dosen't sound like Zakk in general, guitar, vocals, and all.
@cameronS96 Fuck Yeah man!!! Rock never dies. Rock is like steel. Thats why we call it heavy metal. We beat it and bruise it but if you melt that steel down its gonna come back better heavier and stronger. Rock on brother.
Zakk is the man.. Nothing or no one can change that... Only he could come that close 2 sounding as good as the original............ WE LOVE U ZAKK......
Probably the best cover i've heard... ever. Can't get enough of this!!
thats a nice wah reindition to the solo, zakk wylde has gotta be the best guitararist alive.
Man, Zakk's vibrato it's the most perfect vibrato in the world!
I DON'T KNOW HOW I'M NOT CRY IN SOLO!!!!! IT'S AWESOME.
Even though I'd always prefer the original one, this cover is amazing!
best soloon the planet...zakk rulllleeeessssss the gooooooodddd
now this is my kinda cover. stay true to the song as it was written. inevitably you're going to put your own style to it but don't kill it. Zakk is great!
the solo is definitely zakk, you can tell just from his tone and style.
I downloaded this a while back when I was trying to get a hold of every song Zakk ever appeared on and from what I remember when looking all this stuff up, was that Zakk only plays the guitar solo on this...nothing else

People it's Zakk Wylde on guitar and Lou Gramm on vocals
it is zakk. you can tell by the sound and vibrato
Oh yeah, that solo *SCREAMS* Zakk. He did a straight up IMMACULATE cover here.
That summed it up very well! It also explains the liquid gushing from my eardrums!
what a great rendition
pretty good cover. There will never be a better version than the original, but this is probably the closest I've heard imo.
this is a great song, he keeps it pretty much the same because nothing needs to be changed i mean its stairway to heaven, if im gonna listen to stairway to heaven, i wanna listen to zepplin, but if i would HAVE to listen to a cover this one is probs it.
sounds awesome
It's Zakk.Only few could do something like this, and it's more Zakk than Jimmy for sure.
I skipped all the way to the solo to make sure if it was Zakk. Just listen to the vibrato and the effects. It's absolutely him.
@swanclipper Jason Bonham and Zakk Wylde played together on three songs on the tribute album. "Goin to California, Good Times Bad Times and the Stairway To Heaven". But, Bonham has never been in BLS. This was mainly for the tribute album only.
Wow thats another good lineup
amazing cover
the music company can make a really COOL music video out of this cover : imagine zakk sitting on the stairway and playing the clean riff and then imagine him playing the solo on a clowd on the sky with the angels above him singing "ou ou ,ou ou " just listen to the solo and imagine that

If Zakk plays hip hop he makes it good. He's awesome.
really well done cover
Perfect!
The voice is Lou gramm and the guitar like Zakk's style sound.
Lou Gramm on vocal fantastic
i know its much easier to improve a song than to write it from nothing
but god damn zakk aced it
I wish there was a video with it so we all know who is doin what!!!!!!!! Awesome cover anyway and its Megadeth, no a :)
This is Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society and the Ozzy Osbourne Band on guitar, and Lou Grahmm (the lead singer of Foreigner) singing.
6:45 It's really like Zakk's style sound!
Zakk je toliko svestran da je to cudo!

I'm pretty sure that's not Zakk Wylde, but it still perfect!
yeap for those who have doubts theres noone that can play this badass riffs like zakk!!!!!!
People need to stop going sick at the fact that its not Led Zeppelin, it's a cover. People don't expect to be as good as the original, hoverever its a good COVER
El que canta es mi adorado Lou Gramm, que lo hace de mil maravillas.!!!!!!
its still DAM GOOD
@dogdirt2000 He also played along with Derek Sherinian's album, Molecular Heinosity, very progressive and not what you would think he actually would play.. with that, this could easily be possible
What a wondrous musical instrument you have there, mate.
Actually, its supposedly to Lou Gramm from Foreigner
zakk é o guitarrista solo.... o vocal é outro

Someone else singing... euh ! It's Lou Gramm ! One of the best !!!
This is better in full screen! seriously, Its a good track!
@PAULD1887 Dude seriously, check out the solo and the super wide vibrato, the aggressivness of the picking etc...It is Zakk that´s for sure. Listen carefully at 6:19: no other guitarist vibrates likes that, it is pretty unique to Zakk

Our ears would never deserve to hear Zakk Wylde and Dio cover this masterpiece.
@luckymouse1971

Well let those who nothing about Zakk believe that it isn't Zakk, and let those of us who appreciate him and can realise when it is him KNOW it is him.

@led96zeppelin do be honest it sounds EXACTLY (and i'm a complete ZEPP HEAD) like the original recording on the opening, so hats off to him.
If its not Zakk Wylde then my bad.
he just has that Zakk Wylde edge to his voice
@rivermoonrise i can't speak for the other guy but.. i think he meant vibrato on guitar. that was what i thought when i read comment. Zakk is known for that. Is this Lou Gramm? great vocal too.

@mestre82 I believe it is Sebastian Bach
that's zakk, it's the vibrato he keeps doing.
If that isnt Zakk on guitar then whoever it is does a fricken good Zakk Wylde impression...
Definately not as good as the zepplin version but still pretty good and i think the vocalist is lou gramm from foreginer.
Zakk rules
@unsca He does actually play the guitar

I don't recall using the word 'singing' anywhere in that post, do you see it? I'm saying this dosen't sound like Zakk in general, guitar, vocals, and all.
