    Thanks for this handy video. My 9 year old has recently gone full fishing mad. He got his own rod for Christmas, so I'm taking him out to Altona for some fishing this Saturday! I'll get him set up nicely thanks to this.

      Thats awesome. Always great to see the kids getting stuck into a few fish. At altona at the moment there are plenty of pinkies and salmon so make sure you use smaller hooks and smaller baits. Small paternoster rigs work great there

    Love the vid Alan but just personal thoughts on having the bead and sinker on the leader versus the main line. I find that having the sinker on the leader tends to have the bait get snagged when fishing on reefs. Would you ever move the sinker depending on the ground?

      Hi Jay, its a great question. If im fishing on shallow reefs i wont use the sinker and will fish unweighted. otherwise all other times i have a very small size 0,1,2 on the inside of the leader.

      I would also assume that the bait will not sit as free off the bottom of the sea once the sinker hits the floor if it is threaded on the leader as opposed to the mainline behind the swivel. What is the benefit of having it on the leader apart from convenience when re-rigging Alan?

    nice vid do you know if 9.1 kg line is ok for port Philip bay?

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  3 года назад +1

      9kg is equivalent to 20lb which would be fine as your mainline, prob a tad light as your leader.

    Thanks for the video. Can you make another video to showing how you bait up this rig with a whole whiting or pilly, then demonstrate how the tip of the second hook (the one closest to the swivel) is supposed to roll in to the corner of the fish's mouth the way circls hooks are designed to work? Something tells me this rig will result in more dropped fish than using regular octopus hooks snelled in the same way.

      Thanks Jack, yeah there will be a few vids to follow this one, including how to rig different baits.
