I love how the conversation went completely off the rails with the hedgehog stuff at the end.
"To me, all hedgehogs look alike".
"Enjoy France!"
!!!!DON'T SUPPORT ANTI HEDGEHOG FEELINGS...YOU ANTI HEDGEHOGINIST!!!!
Alcohol for you
The only downside was that it made me realize the movie isn't called "Last Christmas and Hedgehogs"
@Alexandra McLean well that's, uh, a bad decision, honestly.
This woman is my QUEEN.
No, she's muh QWEEN.
British politics confuse me again day after day.
"I like christmas because I had a nice childhood" GOLD!
I hate Christmas. Guess what kind of childhood I had...
Seth Meyers is a really good interviewer, actually. I adore Emma Thompson, and he let's her talk, string together several sentences and develop a thought, which, in my mind, is the desired outcome.
I love Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers equally, but I think Seth is the better interviewer.
@@maryrosekent8223 I do like Colbert, but I do think I agree with you on this.
This just made me so happy for some reason. I could listen to Emma and Seth talk about hedgehogs and other woodland animals for hours. It's soul healing.
oh same, i can't stop smiling!
Funny bit, but please NEVER give hedgehogs milk, as they are lactose intolerant. Give them water and hedgehog/cat food. X
“...although I did need to earn some money- and that’s what Christmas is all about👏🏻”

This might be my favourite Emma Thompson interview. Seth is a brilliant host! I love that he doesn't have to hold card, he actually knows his stuff and is super funny. Kimmel and Fallon could learn a lot from Seth. There, I've said it!
Ernie
Fallon and Kimmel are a pretty low bar...
When you book Emma, don't book anyone else and let us just enjoy her.
Iam Irish . Must be.
Thought so.
She is so funny and true!
i need to love your comment a hundred times
This was pure joy... loved hearing the hedgehog conversation. She's one of my favorite actresses of all time.
It only takes the smallest provocation and she's back doing improv where she started in the biz. That makes these two a great pairing.
I LOVE that Seth playing along with the story and made Emma laugh at the end. Usually this kind of interview(a.k.a. ad for the movie) ends awkwardly by the talk show host with introduction of movie and ALWAYS interview is too short for having a decent conversation nor jokes. So the guest have to brag about the experience with some big time actors or sacrifices their privacy for marketing. Some of those interviews are not bad, but they all the same at the end. It's wonderful that Seth appreciates the talk with the guest(who can talk and joke in this case) even it's not on the track that it supposed to be.
What just happened there? Seth and Emma improv? Best late-nite TV in ages.
I'm so happy George Michael's genius and talent is being acknowledged and admired again...He was a stellar human being and I'm so sad he's gone :'(
You’re right: i love you because you love George M
He's such a favorite of mine!!
Anything attached to Emma Thompson, I will LOVE. Her films have soul.
It was SOOOO worth it. I saw it a couple of weeks ago and I can honestly say it blew me away. One of the best Christmas movies I have ever seen. It absolutely nails what Christmas is truly about without being tacky, and it is effortlessly original and completely beautiful
Seth and Emma need to go day drinking together...
Kate Shyne they don’t need to!
Kate Shyne with me
OMG Yes! Would be very funny; love them both.
Please, seth, do this!! For us!! For the universe!!
This woman is just lovely. I've loved her since watching Dead Again back in '91.
If you ever feel sad just watch Emma Thompson in interviews
You're very welcome
Listen Without Prejudice is indeed one of the greatest albums of all time. A masterpiece.
I watch Seth every night. His "A Closer Look" segment is a favorite of mine. This particular episode was hilarious and so entertaining.
Love Emma Thompson.
She's always a wonderful talk show guest. So intelligent, witty and funny. One of my favorite actresses.
you do know there is a whole world out there, you don't have to watch that drivel?
This is the most beautiful film I have seen in years. It is funny, touching and intelligent. The actors are so good. Emma Thompson is such a talented writer!
Pearlise the grit... what a lovely way to put across that idea. Love Emma Thompson
The quality you get when a person doesn't use like as a connector OUTSTANDING
MY CRUSH!!! I swear I absolutely LOVE THIS WOMAN!!!!
Get in line mister!
I may be gay.
But that's how I shall win her over!
@@sourabhsg13 Dam!!! Ok...now serving #2? I'm right behind ya!!! She just oozes with such beauty and high class and her smile? Yeah I'm in line for sure!!
@@cobracommando0615 she's true royalty!!
@@cobracommando0615 Jimmy Fallon interview is awesome as well btw in case you haven't seen it yet
Impossible not to.
I'm sure she has done bad movies but has she ever been _bad_ in a movie? I don't think so.
Categorically NO. She is brilliant at her craft!! I can watch Much Ado About Nothing forever.
Valdagast Has she, though?
Of course not. The woman is incapable of it! Goddess Emma.
She's always brilliant!
She was pretty good in the abomination that is Junior, tbh
Emma is the light of my life! So brilliant so witty, so female, so funny, so astounding, so correct, so free, so powerful. My god, where is her statue already!
Omg...she is a riot!
This is so beautiful! I listened to the hedgehog part three times, and will come back to it again. Improv is life! Emma is life! And Seth is such a nice unspoiled host. This was pure, thank you guys for going off the rails where the magic tends to happen.
I could listen to her laugh for the rest of my life honestly, i can't stop smiling after that laughter at the end :')
i just loveeeeeeee her
its her genuine niceness thats sooooooo apparent
This Woman is in League with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry, of course it went off the rails in a Very Funny Way. Oscar winner BAFTA Winner. Deserved.
Well, they all cut their comedy teeth together, after all. Makes sense. The unusual bit is that three such brilliant characters (well, there were some more in the mix, almost as good) coincided in time and space, to the benefit of the world at large!
@@ffeff8353 Right? Here's a clip of all 3 of them performing together in 1986, love this group as always!: ruclips.net/video/W9crgpsKj70/видео.html

Brexit Hedgehogs, sounds like an animated movie idea.
You know who else I've noticed has been much more appreciated in recent years since his death? Mr. Rogers. That guy was a saint and a hero.
Ryan Reeder
Sometimes when someone is ahead of his time, it takes awhile for history to catch up!
I have a book of his quotes that I treasure.
I know she is a terrific writer,I had no idea this movie was her doing as well, what a genius Emma Thompson is !
Nooooooooooooooo! I want the hedgehog story!
based on the direction of what they were talking about i think she was going to make an analogy between putting food out for a hedgehog to come into your house and it will slowly creep in and scurry away until it finally comes and eat/drink safely to her husband opening up about his childhood/christmas
Listen without Prejudice is such an incredible album.
Loving Emma’s outfit and hair here! 🤩😍
Charlie
No. Her great strength is that she manages to be ravishingly beautiful _despite_ her dull clothes and yucky looking hair. Sorry!
Mary Rose Kent You’re a moron.
Sorry!
Yeez Charlie, look again...
She needs to have her own late night show!
Completely agreed. At least we can imagine it by watching her as Katherine Newbury in "Late Night" again and again...
I love and adore Emma Thompson...Blessings from Jacova 11..Gevurah born in Bethlehem. March 11...1962...
Emma's next movie - Harry Hedgehog goes to France!
YES! With lots of sly digs at Boris Jonson that only adults would recognize in a kids movie.
Fantastic! I'll make the little hedgehog passport stamp.
She's creative.
Sense and Sensibility is one of my favorite movies. I hated Willoughby, but glad she married him IRL 😂 They are such a great couple.
Madaleine right! I think I knew that fact. Thank you for reminder👍🏼🌸
Best late night show, best actress! Love it!
Seth and Emma should write a screenplay together!
Emma Thompson and her husband, Greg Wise, acted together in the movie, Sense and Sensibility (along with Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet). Not sure why she would say she never acted with him.
i came here after watching the jimmy fallon interview and wow what a difference. Emma is amazing in both but Seth is more of an equal partner in the dialogue :D amazing!
That was delightful. 🤗
Ηοw sweet is this woman!!!!!!!
I love HER!! Emma is incredible!!!
Emma and her husband was in the same movie 'Sense and Sensibility'
"Last Christmas, I gave you my heart ..." , literally. And that's the idea of the movie.
Oh I love her so much 😍😍😍😍
Thank you, Emma!
i love her! ♥
In Brazil you start seeing Christmas decorations in August. Here the year is pretty much split between Christmas and Carnival.
Loooove her.
When you have a talk show at 8 but have to invade the beaches at Normandy at 9
This was truly hilarious! Nice one Seth.
She's awesome.
Laaaast Christmas 😌
don't.
In the UK Love Actually is not considered a Christmas film, its not regularly shown at Christmas.
Man, that was an awesomely entertaining interview!
Love her!
She’s beautiful and funny. I definitely would. I met her once, but didn’t tell her this.
This woman is the personification of class.
I’m thinking you meant, “personification”, hopefully.
Otherwise it’s rather insulting. 🤭
@@triluna0 yeah, I'm not a native speaker. Fixed the original comment.
Congratulations on being multilingual! Also, I'm now dying to know the original word, lol!
@@kimberlysayer5113 I originally said "impersonation".
Aaahhh, definitely not as good, lol!
Can i say just one thing please???... i love that woman/ everything about her!!! Yes !!!
When she says "my old man", she meant her husband. Just in case people didn't know.
My old man's a dustman, he wears a dustman's hat, he wears cor blimey trousers and lives in a council flat.
Thank you captain obvious 😊
@@_Sakidora_ OMG I haven;t heard this for over twenty years, lol
She is the best of the best
Her little wiggle at 5:58 is so cute....
every time emma laughs this way like in the end of the interview every member of the angel army gets a new pair of flying goggles
the analogy was how to lure hedgehogs inside = how to make her husband like christmas, after 25 years
Emma is so smart.
Hedgehogs RULE!
Emma Thompson is one of the most beautiful women in the world.
Geo fromNJ
And funny, and sexy, and supremely talented!
She's divine.
Do not give milk or at least make it non-lactose one... Better give just cat food and water.
Years ago we we told to feed them bread and milk and they're both bad for hedgehogs. They can't digest milk and they get the squits and dehydrate. Bread lacks nutrition. Then we went on to nuts and mealworms and they lacked calcium and hogs had bad bones. Now we have listened to scientists and feed them what they need yet there's few left... and not everyone bothers anyway.
I always come back here for the hedgehog story..
Une actrice formidable
What a relief to find that Seth Myers can be funny without referring to the humongous bloated Orange Pumpkin! And Emma Thompson is brilliant, as usual!
Listen Without Prejudice & Older are two of the best albums in the last 50 years.
Aw I love Christmas though
The hedgehog story was a metaphor for her husband coming around about celebrating Christmas.
Hmm, 60 never quite looked so good. What a smart lady. Really nice interview.
So the hedgehog analogy was probably that it takes a treat and a lot of time to lure in a hedgehog, and that it was the same with Greg and Christmas, that it took 25 years to make him bear it or something.... Luckily, we can probably read about it in the book they wrote, called "Last Christmas".
I was half-expecting the good dame to give us a rousing rendition of The Hedgehog Song from Terry Pratchett.
Her husband is Lord Mountbatten in The Crown.
I played soccer with a Hedgehog once... he popped the ball.
I want a movie with the hedgehog emigration! PETITION TODAY! and I'm willing to wait for her 8 years to make it. I heard the world is ending in 12 so we have time to see it.
This interview is the same as the Fallon one?....
I am not a Seth Meyers fan but that was an interesting interview.
my favourite human™ ❤
I'm 29 and I think she's insanely attractive.
How to be you po, dame Emma thompson? I want to radiate Sunshine but somehow I keep casting dark clouds.😆
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great ending.
Emma is such a wonderful woman. Extremely fond of her. She got a hedgehog from Wildlife Aid Foundation in England, and here's the vid: ruclips.net/video/gNph923RYWw/видео.html
GREAT LADY!
Seth you monster! I needed to hear the hedgehog bit!!
Emma Thompson comes on to promote Last Christmas the ads after Seth's segments are for Last Christmas damn You Tube algorithm 🙃😉
Christmas is supposed to last until February, to Candlemas on the 2nd.
