@@JSHIPLIFE I would love to book a next cruise but I don't think I would get good support because it's MSC I wanna go on and that would be the yacht club Experience and I know you've had bad experiences with MSc and I don't know if there would be any biased towards them when dealing with my case
From” I won’t be selling this brand again anytime soon” to” I may go once a month.” That’s a huge compliment and a huge swing. I’m so glad that they got their second try right, as I don’t think they would’ve gotten a third try otherwise
I didn’t expect them to have another ship anytime soon. They’ve definitely made steps to improve.
@jshiplife have you tried paradise again lately? We just went in May and it's improved SO much. We think they learned their lesson releasing that one branded but not completely transformed, so they really got their ish mostly together with this one. We're going in August on islander and are looking forward to it.

Keep in mind carnival started out with 2 ships You can tell when margaritaville at sea is moving into the big Leagues is when they start ordering brand new ships
I wouldn't doubt if they get even more ships from Carnival like the Pacific Explorer.

We had a problem on a cruise with the toilet not working and you pushing the button numerous times brought a smile to my face. I let my room steward know the toilet wouldn’t flush, he couldn’t fix it so he said someone from maintenance would be up later to get the toilet working. I saw this giant of a man maintenance guy coming down the hallway in gray coveralls he must have been 7 feet tall. He introduced himself with a stern look on his face (kind of intimidating) and I told him about the problem. He went to work on the toilet. Soon he came and told me it was fieexed, then he added, deed you thieenk pushing the button 27 times would fieex it? I was kind of embarrassed, he just turned around and walked away. So watching you flush the toilet numerous times brought back my cruise toilet experience. 😊

That would have replayed in my mind for the entire cruise. I’m easily embarrassed. I hope the rest of your cruise was great!
I think this ship almost makes you feel like you're on carnival even though you aren't. They REALLY needed people to feel this. It is familiar to guests so they'll like it.
"tacky but beautifully designed" - Yeah, that about sums up 90's Carnival decor
One of my best memories on a cruise ship was during a big rainstorm at night. My friends and I all snuck up to the top level where there was a pool and hot tub. We hung out in the hot tub for a while with nice cold rain pouring down on us and the warm water from the hot tub keeping us warm we had the whole place to ourselves. We were all 21yo and first time on a cruise without parents. This was about 22 years ago now that I think of it. Makes me want to plan another group trip. I live in Tampa area and often see cruise ships leaving as I’m driving to work on my motorcycle over the skyway bridge. I always think to myself that I’d rather be on that boat than heading to work lol.

i think the reason why it reminds you and some others of carnival is because this ship is basically just a reskin of a carnival spirit-class ship

I was on this cruise and remember seeing you. I was a newbie cruise member and was in awe the whole time with never seeing the ocean or the beaches. Cozumel was amazing!! I would definitely go back again!!!!
Looks surprisingly nice. My biggest complaint about cruises is that they leave the destination ports at 3:30pm which doesn’t give enough time out.
Agree 100%. If that is an issue for you, our favorite cruises were Hawaii, since the ship stays overnight for two days and Bermuda since there are no other islands, the ship stays there for a coupe of days, allowing evening and night exploration of the island.

It's adorable! Lots of nice touches, like the countertop colors in your suite and the decor in the main vestibule/lounge/entrance.
It's not really my scene (I'm an Oceania woman) but way better than I expected.

Lol, we use “suck it up buttercup” a lot in our family.. the other is “first world problems” not that we. Discount legitimate problems or concerns. But let’s face it travel is a luxury for many and this looks like a great opportunity for those without grand financial means.

For a budget cruise, it's so much better than what the other ship they started out with and should be their main ship going forward.
Doing the muster the old way is very off-putting. Loved it on my RCL one. Watched the video in RCL's app the morning of the cruise at breakfast in the hotel, boarded ship and went straight to muster, scanned, and done. Best way.
Drink package fix is so simple! Just put it on the card like RCL or others! Shame on Margaritaville!
I hope they keep paradise as long as she's feasible. We enjoy her pack of size and activity and the ability to just chill. We just got back in May from our 3rd outing. Each time we go she's improved.

Awesome video J! This would be the ship I would start with inder this cruise line, depending on the next ships coming. The Margaritaville at Sea Paradise either needs to be retired or a major overhaul, which would probably equal out to just replacing it. I've never sailed on the Fantasy class ships from Carnival, but I would think they are much better than Margaritaville at Sea Paradise. Nonetheless, I like what they did with this ship. You have more options and something for the kiddos if you have to bring them along. If they play their cards right, they could be a low-cost alternative and game changer for sure. FYI, they have fixed the Paradise. I've been on it 3 times this year. Everything was excelent on it. Maybe you could give it another try. Would like to hear your opinion.

Looking at the itinerary & would love the KW, Cozumel but not in Aug ugh it’s too hot then, no? My 1st cruise was in June ‘06 & I vowed to never Caribbean in that heat again. Ever been to Progreso, MX? How’s it? Also you love Cozumel- have you done the Coz. Bar Hop? Amazing coastlines & only generator powered bars that close a dusk❤

I’m already booked for my birthday in November! Can’t wait. I have been on the first Margaritaville ship and I gota say… for the price It’s definitely worth it. So I can’t wait to try this one out.!! Great job reviewing the ship! I’m glad you liked it, and again for the price it sounds like I’m going to have a great time! Also going to Alaska on Celebrity in one week… My first time on Celebrity, and I’m gonna be an icon of the seas in February.

I am passing on this cruise / cruise line . For that $$ you can cruise on another cruise line that delivers better quality overall. -Plumbing is something that when an old ship does not work properly, the cost to fix it is just not justified.
I saw a review on the same cruize as yours and it is understandable the there would be some kinks to work out on the first voyage. I hope they get them ironed out. I want to go after they open Jamaica and Cayman Islands.

Back in day before WiFi in the late 2,000s we use to pray for a carnival or Royal Caribbean ship to pass us in the gulf! We were dead heading with no passengers from Key West to Belize City and call home for US prices and let our family know we were ok.

I sailed on the maiden voyage. There were significant issues that arisen , but I do plan to return in a couple of months. Not a bad cruise at all.

Given that there are Margaritaville branded resorts throughout the US and even outside the US, it seems like there should be plenty of opportunities to promote the cruise line.
Thanks for the honest review, Jay! I was a bit hesitant about considering this line based on all the bad press its first ship got, but the pricing is really attractive, and I am a "parrothead". Your video made me feel a little more comfortable about considering the Islander for my next cruise.
I really don't get why so many cruise ships have such insanely lax security for their night clubs. It just seems like they're asking for something to go horribly wrong.
Having no lifeguards though.. I'm surprised that doesn't violate a law somewhere. Rambunctious children, drunk people, and water can eeeeasily result in something going wrong in the worst possible way. Even if the pool is only like 3ft deep, you can drown in a couple inches if you're unconscious.
I'm very surprised by the review and footage. Slowly but surely it seems Margaritaville went from this kind of hokey 2 day cruise to becoming more legitimate as long as they keep it affordable i'm not mad at it!
It looks like MAS really got it together from the Paradise to the Islander. It’s funny it’s a Carnival Corp Spirit Class ship which is one of my favorite smaller class of ships. This might have to be a try it out in the future deal

We really like the Margaritaville hotels. Unfortunately I can not deal with being in large crowds for days, so no cruising. The rooms looked really nice compared to what I saw back in the day when I did cruise.
2:01 Seriously people, if you have to get a loan/finance for a cruise maybe you have to get priorities in order first? We pay for our Celebrity Cruises Concierge level by putting it on the card and paying it off before the month is over.

Hey Jay, Tampa here. I agree with you that there needs to be more pool loungers, I don't understand why there are not more for the 2100+ pax on a sea day. Granted, Deck 10 is where they mostly are, but the pools need to have more. I am sailing on Aug 23rd and can't wait to see our new MAS Islander. Sail safe my fellow Tampa cruiser.

I love Carnival’s Spirit class ships (which this former Costa ship is also). They are very comfortable with great public spaces. Glad the ship is getting new life.

About the bed, when i bought my new bed the salesperson said it can take up to a month to really break in a brand new bed to its true softness. Maybe thats why the bed seemed hard.

I think you were in the harmony last September my parents were on it and talk about you . I think. I was supposed to go on that ship also between Royal and Carnival.
