So much of this type of music was simply not very available for listening back in those days, when I was young and listening to so much. Seems crazy to me that i only find it in 2016. Really good sounds in all their music.
Anyone else think that they cut a tape loop from a 1/2" or even just a 1/4" jam and then recorded with verb and echo forwards and backwards over top? They sampled themselves! Given Tony Conrads comment that they had "no self restraint" (after Zappi hit a cymbal in an Outside the Dream Syndicate track), it seems unlikely that they could have held on without variation for so long EMOTIONALLY let alone TECHNICALLY. It's no easy thing to do, and this beat is an off kilter one too! I cite "It's Gonna Rain" by Steve Reich as an example of tape loops for the youth. The feedbacks and echo must be the home-built turntable derived tape echo Kurt Graupner built for them, as described in the boxset liner notes. I think the same thing of Mother Sky by can. Anyway you slice it, it is a satisfying piece of music.
Boy Band shit. The Beatles are way too fucking overrated. Cream,The Deviants, and Moody Blues were all way way more daring. Pretty Things and Small Faces too although they ofc both started off in a Beatlesy direction.
People only know American Psych and Krautrock so they say The Beatles as the one point of British Psych but Cream actually rules if you know enough of the material as do Deviants.
This has some similarity to Potatoland, though I can't imagine Randy California getting his licks around Why Don't You Eat Carrots?. He might have had a crack at the solo in Meadow Meal though.
@@patrickneylan That idea of Why Don't You Eat Carrots? with California is very amusing. My last response was a touch colloquial, so I thought I'd clarify. Thinking about it more, Faust doing a version of Mechanical World could be pretty interesting.
that's a great observation! if you haven't heard their live album "the name of this band is talking heads," there is a version of born under punches which totally aligns with this ruclips.net/video/Ya1pnWjdC_I/видео.html
Superb track

Agreed....Thanks from Italy
they've got the funk!!
*!! Pioneros de la música electrónica !!* MAESTROS 😎👍🏽
As you can see that you don't know anything about music, this is terrible, repetitive, easy to do, overwhelming.
Muito bom...muito bom.....obra prima.....
Sim....Um saludo de Italia....Amo Brasil....Ate' mais...Ciao
So Far Out
Wonderful band. Up there with Can, and The Beatles.
And Pink Floyd
Wondering how The Beatles got on here tbh.
They ARE the Beatles

A TOTO CLASSIK! BLESS YOU 4 POSTIN THIS!!
very very good..........................................................
How to learn to play a faust song on guitar:
step one: learn the first riff
step two: repeat the first riff for six minutes
The music is built around repetition, but it doesn't mean that it stays the same. The rest of the track develops a lot.
@One Vast and Ecumenical Holding Company virtuosos are the worst...
Yeah, I mean J'ai mal aux dents is just G Em A throughout the whole song. No harm is just "Daddy! Take the Banana!"
My two favourite bands are Spirit and Faust, Imagine the latter doing a cover of I've Got a Line on You or Topanga Windows. Would be perfection

It's a tape loop! And it's 7/4!
If by chance can somebody upload the full album on RUclips video please? Thank you
best album
I don't know this and IV are pretty neck and neck for Faust. Both great though.
@@BygoneUser1 First Album ≥ IV > So Far. Releasing Miss Fortune alone and nothing else would've made them a classic band.

Beatles? I dont think so..faust are a million miles from them!
Faust is obviously more experimental but there are clear similarities.
Although the beatles have Tomorrow Never Knows, Only a Northern Song, Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite, etc

W/e bro Timmy two tokes carries that group, Dr greenlief aint gotz shet on him. Those beats are tight, while those rhymes all just aight, you feel me
Weren't The Teardrop Explodes Faust?????
Nope. Faust was a decade earlier.

i thing talking heads were inspired to them
Yep, sounds like a young David Burns would be grooving to this.

fuckin stupidest shit I have heard in a long long time and I'm down for everything
Obviously not for the uninitiated. I suggest some lysergic acid varietal as accompaniment.
Nothing experimental about this. Boring.
its a groove. chill out
