I have a peavey triple XXX combo that is built like a tank that sounds almost as good as a Fender twin on clean and was thinking about selling to get the ML Deville, your thoughts?
Hey man thanks for the video! I’ve got a question, hope you can answer it. Are those speakers the same as the Celestion V30? Pretty close? Or what do they have in common? Thanks in advance!
Yep , same crappy single pcb board and shitty ic electrolytic cap's ( wich will start to leak after a few years ) fender uses in all there hot rod and re issue amps , resistors way to close to the board , bad lay out design , direct mounting off the tubes and input jack on the board , ect ect . . Fender is doing this for so long now ( since the 80's ) , it's a crying shame .
@@henrymillsiii4961 Hello , well , first let me tell you , i am not an amp tech or so called "expert " , so please do not give my "advice " to much value , but however , i have been playing guitar for more then 40 years and always used tube amps ( from fender hot rods to hand built amps ) and the last few years i have learned a lot about tube amps by wachting many yt vids . The things i mentioned about the fender amps also account for production made marshall /vox ( or wich ever brand ) amps , there just companies with managers , ceo's , overhead cost caculations ect . ect. , so they will save money and cut cost where ever they can ( blackstar amps have a really bad reputation , they even don't share schematics or have an helpdesk ) .But even the handmade amps sometimes have design flaws or whatever , but if you look at yt , forums ect . you can soon find all the needed info about an certain brand or amp . so my advice would be : take you're time and get as much info as you can if you want to buy an amp , the main advantage of an handbuilt amp with a good pcb board ect. is the lower cost when it fails , i live in Holland and have chosen for an dutch made amp so i can bring it to the tech who has made the amp . i hope this will help you some , greetings Antoon.
Hi, Better late than never..;). It's the best sounding fender deville by far. 2x60 watt Celestion V-Types, to my ears, gives an open stable sound...almost a little bit like a 15 inch. Together with the boost channel from the 2th volume, gives it a more warm beefy sound what is perfect for a strat it's bridge pickup. At that moment your realize it doesn't sound like a deville anymore but more like a boutique amp. More headroom, fuller tone. But the issues Antoon gives are there in the deville range, only if you go on the road with it for a few nights in the week for many years... I have had a new deluxe and a old tweed deville 4x10 and the inputs were likely the first to go....but these amps are known for it's reliability. So I would not worry about these issues so much. If you don't like plastic inputs mounted on the board, start thinking about piont to piont amps, if you have the green ofcourse.;) After my band carrier(Top of the Dutch blues scene) I only give guitar lessons which I do so for many years now. So in the guitar lessons I'm using the 1watt blackstar amp through the Celestion V-Types from the Deville. The blackstar doesn't have a good EQ, so I put a boss GE-7 stombbox in the guitar chain. And it really sounds amazing! Beautiful open and articulated. Everytime I plug a strat or les paul in, it sounds really good to my ears. For bedroom levels, a 1watt blackstar head and a 30watt Celestion V-Types cabinet might be an option in the fast ocean of likeable guitar sounds.... Thanks for you question and good luck with the music!
I am thinking about purchasing this amp and need advice about it's longevity and maintenance!
