“Scarface” (1983), the remake of the 1932 Howard Hawks classic, was directed by Brian De Palma and was given the typical De Palma pathos and epicness, which made it the all time classic we know today. And when you thought Al Pacino was given the role of his life with the character of Michael Corleone in the “Godfather” series, his portrayal of Tony Montana could make you rethink that…
Director De Palma, who always cared a lot about the musical accompaniment of his movies (he had prior to “Scarface” worked twice with Bernard Herrmann and would once with Ennio Morricone) decided this time to give his movie an contemporary score, written and recorded by the legendary electronic composer Giorgio Moroder, who would have his most busy and successful years during the 80s. Enjoy!

Hello, Fred! When Alan Parker gave up on Vangelis and chose dance hitmaker Giorgio Moroder to do the soundtrack for " Midnight Express ", Moroder had goosebumps: according to him, he didn' t even know what " film music " was, and had a lot of difficulties. But his impressive effort and the Oscar cheered him up. In " Scarface " ( which almost received a rating " X - Rated ".), what best represents the noisy character's trajectory are last four tracks of this suite ( in " Attack Begins ", the take in which a man throws the rope to climb Tony's mansion was filmed by Spielberg ) which convey the plunge into madness and darkness, which leads to outcome, when Montana realizes that the world " that was his ", in fact swallowed him... Thanks and bye!!

Moroder's music represents perfectly the modernity of the film Scarface. De Palma in his prime was aware of the importance of music in his narrative and in this case the union of images and music was superb like in many of his classic films. I don't especially like Moroder style but here he did one or maybe his best composition for films. Thanks Fred!!!

    Great Fred💖🤩
Very cool Giorgio Moroder💖🔝👏🏻😍 40th anniversary
During the making of this great cult, Al Pacino's nose was never the same again...!😂
Brian De Palma rereads Howard Hawks' masterpiece in his own way. One of the most baroque and bombastic films, from the duration to the over the top performance of a great Pacino. Screenplay by Oliver Stone. Michelle Pfeiffer in one of her first important roles.💖😘 Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is equally good and beautiful.❤
One of the action scenes was shot by Steven Spielberg, who was invited to the set.
The word "fuck" and its declensions are repeated 229 times.
The moral of the film is the element most overlooked by viewers. The director wanted to create a masterpiece that contained a message of revulsion towards drugs, especially aimed at young people. This can be seen from the breakdown of the main character, who becomes ruined due to the excessive use of the substance in the second part of the film. It is a theme deeply felt by Oliver Stone also for personal reasons.
In 2005, the American Film Institute listed Tony Montana's quote, "Say 'hello' to my little friend!" ranked 61st on the list of 100 Best Movie Quotes from US Films.
In 2008 the film was listed by the American Film Institute in 10th place of the 10 best American gangster films of all time.
There are two official video games based on the film: the first, “Scarface: The World Is Yours” developed by Radical Entertainment, distributed by Vivendi Universal Games and released for the Wii, PS2, XBox and PC platforms, tells an alternative version of the story of Tony in case he wasn't dead at the end of the film. In fact, after escaping from his villa, the protagonist will have to rebuild his empire by taking revenge against Alejandro Sosa.
The second video game, "Scarface: Money. Power. Respect.", released only for PSP, is very similar to the first although more focused on the control of drugs and the empire than the fights between rival gangs as in "Scarface: The World Is Yours".
Scarface greatly inspired the "Grand Theft Auto" video game saga, both in atmosphere and with songs. GTA is my favorite video game saga!🔝🎮
