Everyone should own a Rab Cirrus Flex, whether hooded or unhooded. I've both and being synthetic it's going to retain heat even when wet.
If I go out hiking in winter, where rain is a real possibility it's a breathable t-shirt, with a Cirius Flex over the top, and typically an Outdoor Research Optimizer hardshell over the top. You have all bases covered unless you are going well below zero.
It's a great garment and in the UK if you know where to shop, I've picked up a Cirrus Flex Hooded version for as little at under £80. Basically makes your old fleeces obsolete! The ideal garment for walking a dog, Sunday walks, a trip to get a newspaper or something more strenuous. Cannot recommend the Rab Cirrus Flex enough.

@@meandmyjackets My next suggestion would be the Rab Borealis Jackets. They are my default windbreakers.
Highly versatile, I ended up buying most of the colours as default top layers and dispensing with wearing many outer layers. It worked out cheaper than just replacing fleeces with Patagonia/Arc'teryx ones and to be honest, was a far better solution because I use them for walking with a backpack and there's no pilling issue which would really annoy me if I were paying over £100 for a simple fleece. This would make me livid.
I have a feeling you'll like this jacket, and it made buying many Arc'teryx jackets obsolete! They are also a lot cheaper, but the quality is top-notch.
Ideal with backpacks, ideal pocket placement. You name it, they are ideal as a light jacket whether exercising or not.
It's one to add to your 'to-do list' !!!
