When I met my boyfriend's Chinese parents, I may have gone overboard on the chopsticks thing.... I used them with my left hand the entire meal, and when they asked if I was left handed, I was like, "No, but it's a great brain-training exercise!" They looked impressed, but I'm sure they were like "OMG she's trying WAY too hard."
After my husband and I were married. I made my parents (black) and in-laws (Asian) hug. I'm from the south, we hug lol and I love 2 my husband hug his Dad. It's the most awkward and hilarious thing ever but I'm glad my husband shows them affection because you never know how long you can do that.
You must understand; YOU come and take her away, from her parents, so the parents don't have to like you. Understand this. YOU will always be THAT scoundrel who stole their baby. It is what it is.
Is it an American thing to wear shoes in the house? When you come into the house in Canada you take off your shoes right away and just go in bare feet or socks...
I was born and raised in Tennessee, and yes, we do were shoes in the South. I always take my shoes off at the door mostly because I do not want to track dirt or dust from outside onto the floors inside.
I'm Welsh British and the majority of people I know also take off their shoes. Might be due to being brought up in the countryside so you don't want to bring mud and grass in the house?
You might wanna mention to insist on helping with dishwashing and all that stuff after a meal. As a girl, gifts like selfmade chocolates are a great 2-in-1 (gift & good chef) and seem to score alot of points :D Being hard working and very caring always helped me out of that not-exactly-a-doctor/lawyer etc pit. Might not work for everyone, especially not guys though :/
My brother brought a girl for a family dinner one time and she was asian as well. She used spoon instead of chopsticks, when we asked my dad on what he thought of her.. He said "she didn't know how to use chopsticks.." And i laughhhheddd i never thought that it was a big deal..
You guys are absolutely fantastic!! As someone who wants to eventually live in China, it's awesome to have people who give a real look at the culture. Not that I think you represent all Chinese people, or even close, but you do give a lot of cultural background and standards that you just can't get from books and documentaries. I love all of your videos and can't wait until the next one:)
I have never been more scared in my Life when i met the Father of my Lady and he makes this" You want to Date MY Daughter " Face. have to say they know about us and we where visiting them in China. Luckily i succeeded and we are now Married with two Lovely Children. Best Wife ever :-)
My boyfriend and his parents immigrated from Laos. While we don't do PDA around his parents, his mom will give me a hug on occasion when we are leaving (especially to go back to my home state that is 2100 miles away) but I don't think I've ever initiated it.
okay lets see my current evaluation: as a dude 1. Job....fail...( I work in retail and support my mother :( 2. Dress well...I got that 3. bring gifts....good thing I am very generious 4. take off shoes...I already do this as my mother and I lived in a Filopeno house hold for 8 years (hell, we no longer live with them and I still take my shoes off when entering home) 5. Hold Chop sticks properly....shit my older co-workers from china, laos, veitnam and japan tell me that I hold the chopsticks better than their kids ! (I love these guys, they always have enough food to share) 6. eat, eat and eat some more....hey, you put some asian food in front of me, and its gone by the end of the meal....and I love rice! 7. play music instrument....damn it! 8. no hugging the asian parent....I think I am good there well, 6 out of 8 on the rules for dudes. I think am okay, but I should probably learn an instrument and find a new job. and wait....ah shit! Im a black guy who loves asian culture....I'm gonna have to go the extrea mile arnt I
You'll be fine with the job part as long as your girlfriend is okay with it. Plus you are going to get brownie points for supporting your mother. Many western people don't do that. Best wishes! :-)
I'm a gaijin with a Japanese husband of ten years. I dress horribly (I make my own clothes) and can't cook, and my husband is heavy on the PDA regardless of who is present (including his parents). On the plus side, I play the shamisen and would never wear outdoor shoes indoors (ick). I can't read people and have absolutely no clue whether they adore me or fantasise about garrotting me. Husband claims they like me. His sister has explicitly claimed on multiple occasions to like me. Perhaps they're all aberrant anyway because they're all academics, hence more tolerant of weirdness. Who knows. I'll just keep on playing Japanese folk songs and see if I meet with an "unfortunate accident".
BlueSwampyCraft Yes, I do suspect that he is something of a rarity (especially since he combines this with being the stereotypical "Japanese nerdy scientist", a demographic not frequently associated with amorous verve). And yes, I think the parents were pleasantly surprised, if somewhat nonplussed, by my proclivity to play and sing minyo. The mother did praise my dressmaking skills on several occasions and even sent me dressmaking equipment from Japan, possibly indicating some positive assessment of me and my bizarre tendency to cultivate unpopular skills. The father was pleased by my interest in their family history and sent me some genealogical information too. We're going to be visiting millions of his cousins next month in Japan and I'll probably have to play folksongs for them. The minyo-playing sartorially adventurous gaijin may be an acquired taste. Fingers crossed!
"...the Asian parents' stare of disapproval...which, you know, is actually how the death star got destroyed..."... LMFAO!!!! Mike, you are a total genius!
lol both Mike and Dan are right with the whole holding chopstick thing. In Taiwan, depending on where you hold your chopsticks high or low depends on how close you are to finding your love. (At least that is what I get teased and told, when I eat with all of my Taiwanese co-teachers, so I hold my chopsticks high like Dan, however if there was a prospective person sitting at the same table with me, I might hold them more like Mike.) Fish sauce, and pig intestine I've tried, still haven't gotten around to the chicken feet...though please spare me from trying to eat blood cakes!!!!!! And it comes back down to it. MikeDan would be the perfect boyfriend and son-in-law; are you sure the two of you weren't somehow the perfect person that was just so perfect they were split into two awesome people instead?
i hate to bust that myth about the chopstick holding because i hold my chopsticks up high like dan.. even a bit higher.. and i can tell you that love is practically dead in my life lol
I use to be able to pick up grain of rice, marbles, coins, and even jello with chopsticks.. now a days i kind of got rusty as i'm so use to using fork for everything
Sir Green Tea Holding it up high...is why you have no love life...you aren't close to love which is apparently at the tips of your chopsticks, close to the rice. :)
Jessica Greyson That's interesting because I was told specifically by my Chinese classmates in High School that holding the chopsticks high was a sign that you were well bred, more upper class. That's what they did, so I copied them. Is this wrong?
Well, in Finland we take our shoes off and don't like publicly touching people either. And I can use chopsticks properly. That's already almost half done!
I was born and raised is Iceland and we never wear shoes inside unless it's somewhere public and I've never understood why people want to wear shoes inside, your floors will always be super dirty and taking your shoes off when inside is just a great feeling
Your videos must be super useful for a lot of people out there, I'm Chinese, so I do understand. And my parents are basically almost the same as you said it in the video.
My evaluation as a girl: 1) Engineer student (check) 2) Cooking and cleaning for at least 8 years (check) 3) Dress well, going with classics (check) 4) Gifts, I grew up in Greece and that happens here too so (Check) 5) Take off shoes? I walk barefoot in my own house so (Check) 6) Chopsticks, going with Dan's style (check) 7) Eating... I can do that... (Check) 8) Music instrument... That's a hard one... A bit the pipes and I can play a bit of piano but not well since I'm self-taught... (Not check?) 9) No touching... Not touchy so (Check) Do I pass? Feels like I'm taking some sort of a test...
Very funny video !! I get all that you're saying. But I'm lucky, it's really easy with my asian mom though ! --> As long as my boyfriend doesn't hurt me, she will be happy o^.^o. Oh and... if he brings her beer, that's bingo. hahah ! For the chopstick, I hold them more like Dan ^^" I can remember my mom telling my brother at each meal : aya, hold them higher ! And I thought that people turned the chopsticks around to serve food to the others or to themselves ? For the food, I remember, when my boyfriend went to Taiwan with me four years ago, he tried EVERYTHING : intestines, bitter cucumber, century eggs, durian... and even stinky tofu ! xD I remember I was quite impressed, hahah
I have a half Malaysian and Singapore boyfriend :3. I am a Turkish girl. I cooked Turkish food for them, brought dates to the mom as a gift, we always eat together (I love all the food I eat at their home) and I help with washing dishes. Gonna bring a butternut squash this time to make soup :3 hope they will like it. And I hope they like me.
Oh god.... I'm Maori but my boyfriend is Chinese and the no touching their parents part is something I'm going to have to learn, because in Maori culture it's polite to hug and kiss parents on the cheek (well, the mother anyway). Looks like ima need to learn this culture quite well lol
My Mom wants me to marry an Chinese person because she wants to be able to communicate with him, that's her only problem (I think I mentioned it before). But my Dad's like it doesn't matter what their ethnicity is as long as I like them (and must have money/support oneself). It goes to show my Dad trust me, obviously not everyone is good for his Daughter and I know what I want out of life. Too bad they didn't know I've fallen for Huey a 'Golden Boy', my future Golden Retriever. Actually, my parents told me that a few years ago, I think at this point they're like "why don't you have a boyfriend, what is wrong with you. Do you even have friends". Thanks Mom, I do have friends.
+Melissa you know more than 90% of interracial couples end up in divorce !?! dont trust me look it up you know what imma say this now "I TOLD YOU SO" but good luck tho :)
omg the double dip thing is so true!!! I lived with my extended family and they are mixed Asian people that I love to death but that double dip thing was soooo crazy for me. I would usually go get my small ration and say im on a diet to loose weight so they would never want to interfere with my weight loss journey since they are so in love with slimmer women. it worked most of the time but not always. but I love my Asian folks and they surely love them some black folk.
haha, Swedes are the same way when it comes to touching and to the food (minus the chopsticks xD) Love all your videos on every channel!! :) All the best from Sweden! :P
In my culture, a kiss on the cheek is a way of showing respect and affection. I've kissed almost every Haitian family friend and entering the house, I have to kiss my family and everyone in the household at that time
Grau Gruen Well, it is true that Asian parents will cook triple if not double the amount if they have visitors. They do preparation way in advance so make sure to eat a lot because they put in so much effort to cook. Asian parents just make sure that their visitors are well fed XP .
I have a lot of asian friends. When I go to there house most of them say your so skinny and an hour or so later make food and have me sit down and eat. I enjoy, try everything. I know if they don't like you they tell you fast. My friends grandma didn't like me at first because I have my lip pieced and tattoo but once she realize I'm very respectful, generous she apologized im not sure why she did but I like to respect people home were ever I go. I know some culture have different rules. I've never dated an Asian but having friends from different places makes you see how are life is different.
To me, these things are just common sense in how to be a good guest. I have a good friend who lives literally 2 doors away from me in our condo and when i visit his house, i do what this video speaks about...compliment and enjoy the cooking, help do the dishes for him and his mum...clean with them...etc! We help each other and i am happy i have a good neighbour like them ^^
This is the most exhaustive show on asian culture I have never found. Well done! Just... could you add subtitle option? No-native english speakers will be very grateful (automatic subtitles are crazy).
there are differences. Generally I believe in Europe you can be bare feet, but in Asian, like my family, you never ever ever be bare feet. there are slippers provided and you must change your shoes.
LifeTester dude in Balkan (middle-south europe) if they see you barefoot they will probably scream on you and (god not let's you do that) walk in with shoe's on....man you are dead...you can move out of that house and live in trash
haha the asian parents I know are all really respectful to the non-asians' comfort zones. my grandparents and extended family are a bit like that to our non-chinese friends but my parents are always there to be like "chill, they're not chinese" haha
this is actually quite accurate! 😉 I had a Chinese mum in law. oh yes one other thing call his mum aunty and dad uncle. at least here in Hong Kong. AND mummy, baba once you are married.
MOZZART HELL YEAH :D Asian parent have a really good taste in music. I don't understand why most Asian homes has to have a piano it's the most boring instrument to play in my opinion even though my dad taught me how to play it... why can't all Asian homes just own a violin and for the wealthy homes a harp.
These videos, especially this one, always shows me how close (my culture) Arab culture is with Asian culture. The taking off the shoes, getting a huge amount of food, no physical contact, and being successful in your life to impress them is all commonplace. Except the whole, you know.. dating part. Arab girls aren't allowed to date. Personally I consider Arabs an Asian race anyways but I think our culture is just a little different.
well, technically you guys are asians as being part of asia and all but the whole continent itself had a long history of influence back and forth from end to end before europeans got involve.
This is so true! I am Asian(Japanese) and I watch a lot of Arab youtubers (TruestoryASA, AreWeFamousNow, Slimmofication, etc.) and after watching their videos everyday i noticed how a lot of their customs are very similar to East Asian customs too!! :D
Isabella N That's pretty cool. :D I tend to actually go by West Asian identity instead of Middle Eastern because I prefer to align myself with the Asian culture rather than the European culture some places in Arabia have,
This applies to Mexican parents as well. 1. Have a good job (male)/Caring, Cooking, and Cleaning (women)-60% *Although here in America, both male & female can have a good job and still know how to care, clean, and cook for themselves. So double the jackpot. ;) 2. Dress well-30% 3. No touching-10% =100% It's a +; not mandatory if: 4. Eat well/finish the food, and compliment the cooking- 5% 5. Bring gifts every time you visit %5 Total = 110%
Thank you for your tips. Luckily it was uploaded one day before i met his parents. I survived a New Years celebration and a one month baby party - so much exotic & spicy food. Thanks to you - they asked me to come again.
Piano, upright bass, trombone, any guitar, any drums, and singing. I think I've got my bases covered. Now, if that wasn't the only tip I had in the bag, I'd feel pretty good.
Basically, be a sophisticated, calm, learned individual that your mate's parent's can be proud of. White, Asian, Black, this sounds like good strategy all around. Love this.
I think its truly impossible to impress any type of parents sepcially asian parents, but all you can do is show respect, bring a gift, fruit basket as they said, learn the language a little bit at least, show them that you are educated and have good manners, and yes dress nicely, in the end its all about you and your significant other, no one else really matters, parents can say whatever they want, in the end every parents wants their kids to be happy, so like it or not, they will accept you in the end because they see their son or daughter happy with you.
This is a fun video to watch, great work :); I had no idea of what is to meet the parents of a girl from asia. yet I haven't ever date a girl from asia (there is no such girls around here in my country normally) but I think their eyes are really exotic and awesome.
I think I have nailed the cooking/cleaning/taking care + good job bit ... although the truth will be told in two weeks time! when K's mum is back from her long holiday in HK ... dress well, well... she got used to my strange cloths :P ... bring gifts, check! this is easy for me ... shoes off: passed! ... chopsticks: errr still learning, but not giving up ... eat: no probs, nearly nailed it (sometimes quantities are massive) ... instruments: play piano, although don't think she is interested :P ... no touching: errr, only do with K but in a nice manner, so doesn't look too bad ...
Konata Chan They will either laugh their slippers off because you pronounced it horribly wrong, or be super impressed that you tried to learn some of their language. Either one will be good 😊
Well that explains a few things as to why one of my Asian friend's mother wanted me to meet her son so much after she visited us once. She was playing match maker right after she found out about my job goals and the potluck dinner we all had. I thought it was the funniest thing.
My parents are not as traditional as mentioned here haha, we don't do the piling, it's more like my grandma and my aunt. My aunt loves to cook and host parties so she always buys way too much and cooks way too much food. Maybe it's because my family has some western culture mixed in, and chopstick posture isn't a big thing in my house either, in fact, my mother and myself can't hold it right, but I've never really been nagged about that~ and for your information, I was born and raised mostly in Asia. I only moved to the US around 10, so most of my childhood was in Taiwan.
I think numbers 1 to 8 apply to Persian parents too minus number 9 because they would be overtly affectionate and try to bear hug you on your way out, kiss you, invade your private space while speaking to you, and give you food to take home when you're leaving!
It's not about an asian boyfriend's parent, but the part of "eat anything and everything", it reminded me when my gradma served me pork brain... I can eat a lot of things, but that... was too much for me :'D
I'd like to add that difficulty increases exponentially when said parents only have daughters or a single child, not to mention the fact that most of these small 3-4 person families are extremely wealthy. When in doubt, bring your A game (and probably a list of your family tree/ancestry/coat of arms).
J. Midnite Lol. This is so true on so many levels. I come from an Asian family of 4 with 2 daughters. As soon as my sister came home with her boyfriend, my parents and I were basically there waiting with our grading chart and notepads ready to judge the ish out of that boy. It may sound harsh but we're are just that more protective. 🤗
Haha... I still remember when my friends came to my house, they just go straight in before taking their shoes off. Then, I need to pull them back and tell them to take off their shoes lol.
You guys are the best . Where were you guy when I needed you. I have made all the wrong moves. When meeting the parent. I didn't understand why I have to serve other when I was dating and kept holding my boyfriend hands when I was meeting his parents. Lol
"Either be a lawyer, engineer, or doctor... Just to be safe be all three" LOL I'm dying
:v
You, guys, deserve a lot more views. This channel is hilarious xD
***** Thanks :-)

I play the piano, violin, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, trumpet, sax, euphonium, guitar, ukulele, is that good enough
lol
no I dont
fatty patty accordion
you forgot piccolo
fatty patty and percussion that's what I play
When I met my boyfriend's Chinese parents, I may have gone overboard on the chopsticks thing....

Exactly. You just do a great favor to narrate the thoughts in their head.
+Evan “Toriku” Chen I thought so XD
panneler0san lol
Nope you looked amazing and I will try that lol
Wow, I like your dedication!!
After my husband and I were married. I made my parents (black) and in-laws (Asian) hug. I'm from the south, we hug lol and I love 2 my husband hug his Dad. It's the most awkward and hilarious thing ever but I'm glad my husband shows them affection because you never know how long you can do that.

lol
You must understand; YOU come and take her away, from her parents, so the parents don't have to like you. Understand this. YOU will always be THAT scoundrel who stole their baby. It is what it is.
You are a fail troll.
I am two fail trolls
But Asian parents Controllllll
You're so right. In Asia, no matter how good the in-law, they still judge and find your weak points because you are stealing their beloved child.
or, you get the good ones and behave properly and visit often, bringing gifts of fruit ( not pears) and such
Is it an American thing to wear shoes in the house? When you come into the house in Canada you take off your shoes right away and just go in bare feet or socks...
could be an american thing.. not too sure.. some south american and latin americans that i know practice taking off shoes too
I was born and raised in Tennessee, and yes, we do were shoes in the South. I always take my shoes off at the door mostly because I do not want to track dirt or dust from outside onto the floors inside.
I'm an African-Canadian, but some of my white-Canadian friends don't take off their shoes @ their house! I'd say it's more of a North American thing
I'm Welsh British and the majority of people I know also take off their shoes. Might be due to being brought up in the countryside so you don't want to bring mud and grass in the house?
I live in central europe and most people take their shoes off. So maybe it is an americam thing
You might wanna mention to insist on helping with dishwashing and all that stuff after a meal. I think it will be impossible to impress 100% the Asian parents xD
nevertheless, good luck!
lol i think they'll be lucky with 50%.. asian parents have high standards
It's impossible....until they meet me. :D
I like to impress yours :D
Johno Leong your pick up line is bad and you should feel bad
I know, lel tis is Y I hav no frens

Im a black guy who loves asian culture....I'm gonna have to go the extrea mile arnt I
you might fair better with asian americans, but I'd go the extra mile if i were you, some asians have a really bad impression about black people.
It's actually okay not learning musical instrument tho

I’m Mexican about to meet my girls Vietnamese parents. Wish me luck guys, I’ll either live or die no biggie :)
Thanks Mom, I do have friends.
puppy is all the love you need. ***** can vouch for that
+Melissa you know more than 90% of interracial couples end up in divorce !?! dont trust me look it up you know what imma say this now "I TOLD YOU SO" but good luck tho :)
omg the double dip thing is so true!!! I lived with my extended family and they are mixed Asian people that I love to death but that double dip thing was soooo crazy for me. I would usually go get my small ration and say im on a diet to loose weight so they would never want to interfere with my weight loss journey since they are so in love with slimmer women. it worked most of the time but not always. but I love my Asian folks and they surely love them some black folk.
haha, Swedes are the same way when it comes to touching and to the food (minus the chopsticks xD)
Love all your videos on every channel!! :)
All the best from Sweden! :P
In my culture, a kiss on the cheek is a way of showing respect and affection. I've kissed almost every Haitian family friend and entering the house, I have to kiss my family and everyone in the household at that time
Asian parents love stuffing me? Oh god, I need to visit asian parents. Give me food!
Grau Gruen Well, it is true that Asian parents will cook triple if not double the amount if they have visitors. They do preparation way in advance so make sure to eat a lot because they put in so much effort to cook. Asian parents just make sure that their visitors are well fed XP .
Yue Rain gimme food !
Cute Hamster 🥐🍯🍗🥓🍞🍕🌮🥞🍔🥗🍇🍎🍓🍊🥕🥒🌽🥜🥔🥔🍚🍚🍚🍚
I agree with Mei Wang, it's impossible to 100% impress any parents. These tips will help a lot in the long run.
haha, perfect timing on this video. My boyfriend will be meeting my parents and family for the first time this Saturday celebrating Chinese New Year.
Hahaha! Mostly agree :P Don't forget to pour the tea for the parents.... And if you're going out to eat, pay for the meal no matter who invited who.
Taking off the shoes is tradition of all of European countries. Not just Asians
Finally! Thank you!
there are differences.
Илья Коннов hin Romania , you take your shoes off but if you don't you will be thrown out of the window
Maybe eastern Europe.
Oh goodness, I'd fail the test myself. LOL.
My dad says people who hold their chopsticks closer to the tips like Mike does are commoners xD. Dan's got aristocratic form.
These are honestly all good suggestions.
haha the asian parents I know are all really respectful to the non-asians' comfort zones. my grandparents and extended family are a bit like that to our non-chinese friends but my parents are always there to be like "chill, they're not chinese" haha
this is actually quite accurate!
This gonna be Lingling!!!
I play the electric guitar, I'm a professional artist, I know Turkish, English, French and Chinese and I'm a doctor. Good enough?
I made this up lol
dude, im asian and i barely meet any of these requirements lol
These videos, especially this one, always shows me how close (my culture) Arab culture is with Asian culture. The taking off the shoes, getting a huge amount of food, no physical contact, and being successful in your life to impress them is all commonplace. Except the whole, you know.. dating part. Arab girls aren't allowed to date. Personally I consider Arabs an Asian race anyways but I think our culture is just a little different.
well, technically you guys are asians as being part of asia and all but the whole continent itself had a long history of influence back and forth from end to end before europeans got involve.
Urm... The countries in Middle East are Asian countries as well.
Sir Green Tea Most say that Lebanese, Syrians, Iraqis, and Saudis are Asian. I am Lebanese myself.
:D I tend to actually go by West Asian identity instead of Middle Eastern because I prefer to align myself with the Asian culture rather than the European culture some places in Arabia have,
This is hilarious. You two are great. I love your funny but true stories
This applies to Mexican parents as well.
1. Have a good job (male)/Caring, Cooking, and Cleaning (women)-60%
*Although here in America, both male & female can have a good job and still know how to care, clean, and cook for themselves. So double the jackpot. ;)
2. Dress well-30%
3. No touching-10%
=100%
It's a +; not mandatory if:
4. Eat well/finish the food, and compliment the cooking- 5%
5. Bring gifts every time you visit %5
Total = 110%
THANK YOU. This is so helpful for my Girlfriends Asian parents
Thank you for your tips. Luckily it was uploaded one day before i met his parents. I survived a New Years celebration and a one month baby party - so much exotic & spicy food.
Thanks to you - they asked me to come again.
My friend is Asian and her mum ALWAYS hugs me and everyone else. She’s like the opposite of every other Asian, it’s like she loves touching people.
I am going to meet my boyfriend's Chinese parents so thank you for this 😅
Omg there should definitely be a meet the Asian parents movie!
Awesome shirt dude!
This is a fun video to watch, great work :); I had no idea of what is to meet the parents of a girl from asia. yet I haven't ever date a girl from asia (there is no such girls around here in my country normally) but I think their eyes are really exotic and awesome.
YESSSS!!!!! They included viola ❤️my musical instrument❤️
Yaassss I want to see meet the asian parents video!
2:52 - Everyone love free stuff, lol
As we say in Swedish "Gratis är gott!"
3:30 - It's the same here in Sweden
I miss this talented team and their videos.
I see a big lick of String Bass in your list of instruments to know
This stresses me out just thinking about it, and since I'm married, it's not a situation that will even arise.
I hold my chopticks the way Dan holds them. No offense mike but holding a chopstick on the middle is just freaking weird. x)
Ik right
One of my past break ups was mostly due to the 1st point ;( I didn't stand a chance no matter how much i showed i cared for her.
Wait people don’t takeoff their shoes in the house like I didn’t because I’m Asian but like I feel like it’s still very weird that people don’t do it
dan :you should play piano...
me: ummm i only play piano and clarinet
You forgot Asian greetings! Asian parents will like you if you can greet them in their language.
Omg I just subbed you guys are great!you got me at the urban legends 😄
My parents are not as traditional as mentioned here haha, we don't do the piling, it's more like my grandma and my aunt. My aunt loves to cook and host parties so she always buys way too much and cooks way too much food. Maybe it's because my family has some western culture mixed in, and chopstick posture isn't a big thing in my house either, in fact, my mother and myself can't hold it right, but I've never really been nagged about that~ and for your information, I was born and raised mostly in Asia. I only moved to the US around 10, so most of my childhood was in Taiwan.
Well I play 3 instruments as an American sooo....
YEET
P.S. Those instruments are piano, clarinet and tenor saxophone.
Just say saxophone. If you can play one, you can play them all.
I think numbers 1 to 8 apply to Persian parents too minus number 9 because they would be overtly affectionate and try to bear hug you on your way out, kiss you, invade your private space while speaking to you, and give you food to take home when you're leaving!
I an an asian and still watching this😆😆
Very useful, thank you guys.
It's not about an asian boyfriend's parent, but the part of "eat anything and everything", it reminded me when my gradma served me pork brain... I can eat a lot of things, but that... was too much for me :'D
THANK YOU GUYS SOOO MUCH FOR THIS VID really gonna be usefull for me thanks
JiggyJay Van Rijn no prob :-)
Off the Great Wall you guys are amaing
Haha! Well met! I feel for that guy.
Haha... I still remember when my friends came to my house, they just go straight in before taking their shoes off. Then, I need to pull them back and tell them to take off their shoes lol.
Most Malays don't have pianos, cello, violin and so on. They might have guitars, bass, drums but classical is instruments is really rare.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
so true i'm Asian and all I don't know how to play is the Tuba and Piccolo
Do a skit on this! This is hilarious
You guys are the best . Where were you guy when I needed you. I have made all the wrong moves. When meeting the parent.
I didn't understand why I have to serve other when I was dating and kept holding my boyfriend hands when I was meeting his parents. Lol
+lisa Asians always serve others first, it's a sign of respect.
true! especially on 'eat everything that they put on your plate' part! food food food and more food!
White moms: Mama bear
Asian moms: Mama dragon
glad u guys were a bit more inclusive for this video
One rule to success.
1. Be polite.
Piece of cake. I love double dipping, pork intestines, cleaning and playing the piano. Not sure about the chicken feet though *lol*
I quit, I don't wanna a asian girlfriend anymore...
You know what will REALLY impress your Asian girlfriend and her Asian parents? Play Thunderstruck on the piano!
