Sara Hess will ruin the show get her out
... why?
@@l.josino She’s responsible for the 2 least popular episodes apparently, in which she has made decisions that deviate from the book, e.g. end of ep.9 Rhaenys bursts through floor on dragon back during Aegons coronation, sparing the traitors but killing innocent civilians in the process. Style over substance.
Whoever is responsible for episode 9 ending (Sara Hess?) should be fired immediately
Sara Hess comes in 46:54
Thank you.
Rhea Royce was the most badass bitch in the seven kingdoms and she deserved so much better than Daemon. I get the impression that more than anything, Daemon couldnt stand that he couldnt manipulate her, and that's why he hated her so much.
I also thought it was a cool detail when Daemon completely casually says "I plan to fly to the Eyrie" to the face of someone who has probably never spoken so many words to someone who has access to air travel. Like what a power move.
Really good point
She had some cool sequences on screen, but everyone in the show is clearly terrible (except for Viserys, I guess) in their own twisted ways.
Not a single kind word came out of Rhea's mouth, she seemed like the type to disdain everything and everyone. She couldn't keep it shut to literally save her life.
That said, she's hinted to be lesbian in the book, which might have grinded his murderous gears.
Great actress, but so disagree about the character. She was absolutely friggin annoying, pompous, and arrogant. And taunting him at end. Bad ass, maybe, but really dumb. Maybe she knew she was already paralysed when she did that, but still
In the book, Daemon loathed the idea of his own forced marriage when he was 16. Which means they didn’t consummate the marriage well over a decade.
Daemon loves freedom. And being forced to marry a woman he doesn’t love really made him hate her.
I mean she wears armor… that’s about the only “badass” thing about her. And why would you be wearing armor randomly hunting by yourself? And why was she a bitch to her cousin. Seems kind of stuck up to me…
I think Ser Criston was an idiot for confessing to Alicent before being actually accused, and his answer should have been silence anyway, as that is the best way to protect Rhaenyra. When Alicent doesn't punish him, instead simply dismissing him, he realized that he now is in a position to be used by Queen Alicent, and has put Rhaenyra in danger. Then, when Ser Joffrey let's him know that he also knows about the secret, I think that Ser Criston sees the only way to protect the Princess was to kill Ser Joffrey and then kill himself, so that neither of them can be used against Rhaenyra. We'll have to wait to see if he still goes through with his suicide, now that he has been interrupted by the Queen.
Rhaenyra put herself in danger by her extramarital liaisons, though much less than knight of Kingsguard, how should Alicent use him if he is ready to die?
1 month late but Ser cristen being low born, Kingsguard is is dream. This is the ultimate goal for him. All his passion and love is dedicated to this role. He's not in it for money or power, pure devotion and honor. So when he feels that is destroyed 'his entire life goal is destroyed' to him, there is no meaning of life for him. He feels he betrayed his existence and it is pretty usual to get suicidal (admitting to alicent).
And alicent didnt go to use him lol. Alicent felt alone in kings landing without anyone loyal to her. She stops the man from taking his life. They share how rhanyra wronged them. And cole probably finds true devotion to her later on for saving him and giving him purpose again. Team black fans are soo obsessed with daenyra, they refuse to acknowledge what great character development alicent and cole had.
That wedding sequence was fantastic. So many players in one room all exchanging looks with double meanings.
Sara Hess is a terrible writer and is going to ruin the characters I said what I said
This is a major red flag. From the beginning, Daemon was exactly like GRRM said, the greyest character, unpredictable. And now he's just an antagonist. She cut the scene when he hugged his daughter after Laena's death. Putting your personal view into a character is never a good idea *cough Wonder Woman 1984, cough* I'm seeing Game of Thrones season 8 all over again.
GGRM afraid of getting cancelled by the blue haired so they gonna let her do whatever she wants cuz he loves coins what a mario
@@marcyslaoal1364 “Blue hair” 😭😭
This episode is about Alicent, she "lights the way" with that green dress, sending the message to her family that she will fight for her house's interests and will embody their values to the max. In these episode she realizes and supports the motives of her father to get her son into the iron throne.
I do believe that the Hightowers and Maesters have been planning to get into power to erase the incestuous and magical traditions that come with the Targaryen family. Alicent feels betrayed and treated as a fool by the King Viserys and Rhaenyra...the bonds are already broken and soon enough the seeds of war will bloom and when they do they'll cry blood.
Wish more people caught that about Alicent. I know they mention it, but that was such a badass moment for her and thats when shit officially gets real
She's the cause of needless blood shed that destroys whole houses. Glad I know what her and her children's fate will be in the end. lol
Hightowers arent trying to erase incest, they embrace it instead like Otto advised Viserys to marry Rhaenyra to Aegon II.
Oh my god thanks. Great to see some ppl understand this. Soooo tired of ppl making everything about rhanyra and daemon.
*Pronounced LAY-nor and LAY-na, holy smokes. Made me wince every time they said “Lee-ay-nor” and “Lee-ay-na”.

Her name is laena not “lee ayna” my guy.
Also laenor not “lee aynor”
It would be nice if this podcast was filmed so that we can see them instead of hearing them over this screen saver ! 🤑
Historically this is what a podcast is, but I don’t know if modern “podcasts” that post it on this visual platform qualifies.
that last scene with Rhaenys in episode 9 during aegons coronation was AWFUL writing, killing hundreds of commonfolk and runs off without doing any harm to the greens like why? now shes evil
Sarah is a horrible writer, she will ruin the show
My only problem with what happened at the wedding feast was this , Laenor is the prince consort of dragonstone now , in the books it was a tournament that cole does that to joffery and really people were upset that he did that beat Joffery nearly to death, he died days later. to strike the prince consort like that and nth comes out of it? absolutely not even the queen could save cole from that. Hit coryls son? Rheanys son? Those characters don't play that. You lost your mind no one would get away with that. It's a great story but it lacks a bit of logic there when you think about the characters we are talking about.
Even GRRM says the source material is from unreliable sources. I just take it as its shown and don't use my own rationality to explain MAY have happenend.
If he acted then the rumors between them will be confirmed ☑️
I find it interesting that you say Ser Criston isnt very good at his job, I wonder if that's intentional. After all, Rhaenyra chose him for the king's guard with absolutely zero consideration for the political aspect of the job. Really it actually makes a lot of sense that this guy who only got the job because he's hot and has real combat experience turned out to be real bad at the political aspect of being a king's guard.
*Rhaenyra:* _"I prefer "roast duck" to "goose"._
😳🤯😵🤣😆😂
*Laenor:* _"It's not for a lack of trying._
_There are those who like "goose" very well."_
🤣😆😋😁
*Rhaenyra:* _"I find it a bit greasy for my taste."_
🤯😵😆🤣😁
_"...will not change your appetites, nor will it change mine...when it's done, each of us dines as we see fit."_ 🍽
I can tell you, this woman hasn't read a single GRRM book ever.
(Edit - OK, I hadn't heard Sara address this point when I wrote it)
An explanation (not necessarily an excuse) for Criston Cole's actions: remember that he isn't a courtly knight, but from a poor background, and without the advantages of a great House or family name; only through his own dedication to dutiful military service has he risen to the position of Kingsguard. At the wedding, he's clearly grappling with jealousy, an emotion so powerfully irrationalising that it can lead to some of the most vicious crimes to this day, and he probably doesn't have a lot of experience in dealing with his feelings, especially at this level. So when Joffrey approaches him with all his politicking - not to mention being gay in a world where being gay is viewed as a terrible sin - it's just too much for Ser Cris. Rhaenyra had brushed off all his romantic notions on the boat trip back from Driftmark, so he's already sore about her; he's confessed his dereliction of duty to Alicent; and now he has to watch his lover getting married, and this posh, *gay* courtly man comes up to him and tries - in all innocence, probably - to get him on board with how their lives can continue. Insult is added to injury, and Ser Cris just can't handle it. It's easy to say how people *should* deal with situations, but humans are gonna human. I remember arguing a similar point over Sam Gamgee's behaviour on the stairs up to Shelob's lair - it's all very well saying he shouldn't have lost his temper, but Gollum had driven him to madness.
Sara Hess interview: 46:25
Maybe also all the writer and executive producer why she never watched Game of Thrones or read Fire and Blood?
Rhaenyra with crispin : "no i ain't going with you iam the crown"
Rhaenyra with daemon : "take me as your wife" 🔥🔥
Clearly she don't want you crispin she wants daemon 😂
Also if Deamon takes her she can still have the crown, he is a royal and a dragon rider as well. If she runs away with Cole, she gives it up.
Go for the bad boy. Boredom is a thing
The A comes before the E in Laenor and Laena... therefore... it's not LEE-aynor and LEE-ayna, it's LAY-nor and LAY-na. Just like how Rhaenyra and Daenerys isn't RHEE-ay-nor and DEE-ay-nerys. Otherwise great discussion 👍🏼
I meant "RHEE-ay-nira" but y'all get it
It’s getting pretty annoying to hear the host of the OFFICIAL podcast for the show mispronouncing the names of characters
Thank you for this! It also irks me the way they pronounce House Velaryon. It sounds like they are saying Valryian.
That is what is so great about this show. They make these characters with layers, to a point that anyone in the real world could see something in any of the characters, and that makes them take sides like Green or Black. They have really done a great job of trying to make us side with Rhaenyra/ Targaryens as nice people. But I have also seen people comment that they support Alicent and the Hightowers. And the show has made her very sympathetic. I only started the book, so I have not gotten to this part of the books.
Thank you for the explanation about the Joffrey situation. I explained it the same way on RUclips to a few reactors and they all said I was wrong.
OH MY GOD…this show. This episode. Jeez! This is crazy…high quality television.

I’ve enjoyed every episode of HOTD so far but this was the episode that made me say “ oh yeah, Game of thrones is back”
This is one of the best episodes of television I’ve ever witnessed
17:20 very good point
Just listened to the podcast at 1:01:26, where the hosts talked about the reasons, why Viserys named Rhaenyra heir. Honestly, I am not sure, even by watching Ep 1, of the reasons, Viserys made Rhaenyra heir. It seems, that Viserys never started to forgive himself. Instead, he came back to his wound, over and over again.
“I do not like fish, but when fish is served I eat it” Fire and Blood
Did he really love her though because it is stupid that he didn't tell her that the only way to save their son was to cut him out of her?
leave daemon alone he is a grey character he is capable of both evil and good don't ruined for us pls
and he didn't kill his wife in the books
I find it weird that Alicent cares so much about Rhaenyra's virginity. Even if it's about the lying, they hadn't been close friends in years. It's beyond unreasonable to assume that Rhaenyra would continue to tell her EVERYTHING about her life.
I initially thought the same thing, but in the context of the rumour resulting in her father being removed from his position as Hand of the King, I think that makes Alicent’s reaction to the lie more understandable
@@formidablity this is a great point, but I also think it’s not just the fact that Rhaenyra didn’t tell Alicent- it’s that she LIED to her. She swore on the memory of her dead mother. Alicent can *never* trust Rhaenyra again after this- and that includes whether or not Rhaenyra says she would spare her children if she ascended the throne.
Edit: this isn’t even mentioning the importance of oaths in westerosi society. The foundation for their feudal social order is based off the oaths of fealty, vassalage and protection that kings and lords swear to one another. Breaking an oath in that context is treason- but even just privately lying or bearing false witness is a seriously fucked up thing to do in their society. That Rhaenyra would lie about something as important as her virginity (to us it’s absurd but for her, it’s REALLY important) to her best friend on her mother’s grave in front of a weirwood tree is dishonest on **many** levels.
also, imagine if Rhaenyra told her the truth about Criston, she would have been sprinting to Daddy Hightower with the info, then to the king, and Rhaenyra would be disinherited instantly. She knew exactly what would have happened if she told her the truth
These things are side pieces. The main thing is what Otto told her. He told her truth that rhaenyra will kill her children even if she didn't want to. Alicent was shocked and feel betrayed when she found out about criston and all. She can't trust rhaenyra now ig. She will still try to be reasonable but she will choose always her blood more than rhaenyra.
@@omkargurav8992 You’re right, that’s a crucial aspect of her reaction. Thanks for your addition!
Daemon be like: notice me senpai
Otto is not trying to do what is best for the realm and he and Daemon are not trying to get along with everyone. I think without the support of the Hightowers the war would not have happened even if other lords disagreed with Rhaenerya being Queen.
Sara Hess's interpretation of Otto is beautiful, not completely ruling Otto off as a bad guy (not saying we did) and breaking down his complex character as a middle man 😂
Who is LEE-AYNOR? Do you mean Laenor (LAY-NOR)? Guys, please, your cast is great, but as official GoT people you really gotta get the pronunciations right.
I did bat expect to hear Jason here… last time I listened to a g.o.t. podcast he was on the Ringer.. 👍
The way everyone is stepping over Viserys to me would align perfectly with the episode title. They are all silently saying "We light the Way" and your days are gone🤷
Jason -- why can't you guys do a video podcast over table -- MANY OF US WOULD DEDICATE as a 'must watch' either at the end of Eps (as this non-video plays) or, if HBO prefer not, than the exact podcast in video form here on RUclips . . . frankly, this podcast necessitates video b/c it's not in folks listening podcast library (b/c it plays after GOT-HOD eps) . . . p.s. -- props to ur O.G. post-GOT pods at The Ringer (phenom)
If it wasn’t for Otto’s scheming Viserys would have married Leana. Also the realm went to war because Otto orchestrated this, men would rather burn the realm than have a Queen is not correct. Otto made Alicent just female Otto 2.0 in the paranoia realm of Otto actually believing Daemon could kill Viserys and making Alicent think Rhaenerya would kill her kids
DRAGONS! 😊
hi, maybe pronounce the names of the characters right? they’re literally spoken in the show
GOT!!!
Daemon never would kill Rhaenerya so it would just end there with Rhaenerya showing up
Mean Otto is right, look what Joffrey did to Robert’s children due to the mire idea their a threat or look at Cathrine the great after her coup were she never ordered Peters death but it happened
How is no one addressing the fact that the maesters are killing Viserys?!?!
they are not. the show & the book, it's the way of telling us that viserys is not suited to rule (w/c he is not doing well actually), that the seat is slowly killing him.
Bro... Nobody is talking about the fact that the archmaester refused to try the procedure that his apprentice offered...👀
There's a 10 year time jump and Viserys still lives so these maesters suck at killing a man with leprosy.
@@cmd7930 its kinda implied that targaryens have a stronger immunity compared to other people.
Woooooow
I know context around sexual violence is important, but the show already showed us pretty graphic and disturbing castration in the Gold Cloaks montage in ep 1
cuuuuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhplinggggg
S01e09?????
Why were there 2 dragons that flew in when daemon flew in for the wedding?
that was Laenor and Rhaenys on Seasmoke (grey) and Melys (red) respectively
It was Seasmoke (laenors dragon) and Melys (Rhaenys Dragon). I was expecting to See vhagar as well but they pushed that plotpoint further away
@@herbertschulz4313 Vhagar is waaay too fat for the dragon parking space they have at King's Landing Dragonpit ..
@@peddroelm yes, but maybe Laena could have parked him on the beach outside the City or something. And bringing vhagar would have made the velaryon arrival even more of a Power move. Im sure if he already had access to vhagar, corlys would have brought him, right?
why was there a whole fleet is the real question.

Did he say lee-a-nah stop playing out some respect on her name LAY-NAH. Honestly not for nothing I wish they would have given some prominent RUclipsrs this podcast these two really don’t do it for me when they are talking I get like 5 mins in and find another video
Criston Cole is a violent man. Under the armor, under the facade, he feels entitled to Rhaenyra and uses his fists to express his emotions. There are many men like this in the world even today. The whole "look what you made me do." is one of those phrases abusers used to control their targets. In reality, she owes him nothing, but he wants to use her to wipe off his guilt. I think people miss that he was always an unstable person underneath it all. His outburst had nothing to do with honor or guilt. It was always simmering underneath. Murder/suicide = history of violence.
Please get her off, Sara Hess needs to be kept far away from this series. She wrote the worst episodes this season, all for the sake of feminism.
It’s not blackmail he was going to kill himself and she convinced him not to
the season 9 ending was so bad, felt like game of thrones seasons 7 and 8
Is the show good guys? I watched the first 2 episodes and I don't know if I liked it yet
The crazy thing is you can watch it and decide for yourself.
The story picks up in Episode 3
@@DoddScientifics 😂😂😂
Please remove her from season 2!
She know he thought of it and she knows he can't so she out right calls him out. Much like in the porn house
Sara Hess is a very weak as a screenwriter and should be dismissed not to spoil next episodes of HOTD. The 9th episode was the worst from all series. It goes the way of 8 series the Game of Thrones. No sense, illogical episodes.
I thought Rhea Royce was just absolutely horrible, and dumb, really dumb. Still, put them both in a room and let them go at it, lol. She was an awesome actress though
Please get her out , make petition or something , she’s absolutely ruining the show . She’s confusing feminism for outright hatred for men . Since when feminism was about portraying men as evil monsters and overlook everything good about them , not seek equality

Please replace Sara Hess! She sees daemon as a one dimensional bad guy character, this is so stupid. Didn't she read the book? And what was that stupid scene where rhaenys killed hundreds of innocent people with her dragon just because Sara thought this was cool? Not hotd worthy. She will ruin the show like d&d did, please think about replacing her! I and many others are so afraid that this show will turn out like season 7 or even 8 of got because of stupid writing!

she will destroy the show .. actually she already destroyed after ep9&10
It's a disgrace there's actress changes coming.
Sara Hess will ruin the show
Sara and writers, my husband and I were appaulled at Sir Joffrey‘s demise. We’re not looking for a happy ending to the love affair of course, but the gay bashing scene turning his head to minced meat just like Oberyn’s death in Game of Thrones sends a negative message considering it’s done by the anticipated “John Snow heartthrob type” of the season in a progressive world where females and African-Americans can take throne and taboo incest is ok. Here you have the one unapologetic gay guy who gets gay bashed by someone who’s not even evil. Maybe put a knife in him if you had to kill him off. Again, I’m not looking for a happy ending to their gay love affair and the writing is more interesting having the gay love affair be kept quiet. But why have two openly gay and bisexual men have their face turned to minced meat being beat to death. I need some Ryan Murphy after that where LGBT characters in horror films are represented in all lights, protagonist, antagonist, victims, and killers, not just gay bashed. Don’t think I’m gonna watch anymore. OK, so he’s killed but why so brutally. Who decided that? Director? Writers? Producers?
I’m glad Rhea’s head was not shown smashed with a stone in that very disturbing scene, but would you have? -No
Cringe af
Thanx for watching see you next week
Did you mean to say cringe off or af🤣🤣🤣🤣
It SUCKED. Fell asleep, almost. Can't care about these characters. Boring muck. Most interesting person killed in 2 minutes. Kings Guard were USELESS STATUES. Might as well replace them with hobbits.
