Erica, this is another great video. I can attest to your packaging as I just received my order from you today. I placed my order on your Etsy store late pm on 4/8, my order shipped the next day, and was received today (4/11)....west coast to east coast! The email communications were on point and kept me apprised of the entire process. I loved your personalized, handwritten thank you card....a great touch! I also really liked your “Thank you for supporting my small business” stickers.....wonderful attention to details. Your candle, Late Night Drive, smells A-mazing (hot throw)! I will be burning the melts this week & excited to do so; however, the cold throw on all the products are awesome. And can we talk about your freebie....sampler melts.....so sweet. So informative as usual! Thank you for these videos, Erica!! Question for your future Q&A vid: do you prep your jars before you pour wax? I've seen others "warm-up" the sides of the jars to help the wax adhere to the sides and not pull away? I got a candle making kit in yesterday and made my first candles last night! It's so fun and watching your videos to help me make them was so helpful - thank you again!

Yes absolutely! Everything I use for candles is 100% specifically used for candle making :)

When you first started did you sell to family and friends (word of mouth), craft fair or flea markets, or did you get started straight to online? Also, did you get your candle business legalized from the start even if this just started out as a side hustle?

Hi Erica! That’s a bummer that you’re not a fan of that wax because I know it’s really popular! I use soy 10 and it’s incredible! Wonderful hot throw. Would highly recommend :)
Memory Box Candle Co thank you I’m going to try it. What wick do you use. The cd wick smokes a lot and mushrooms. I’ve tried every size. I was even thinking about the wooden wicks too
For my 13.5 oz jars I use two eco 2’s. And for my 10 oz jars I use one eco 12. I found that I was wicking up to an eco 14 to try to get a full melt pool after the first burn and it caused too much sooting and smoking. Wicking down to an eco 12 was so much better!
I would definitely give wooden wicks a try too!
Question for you, I see that in this video you use bubble wrap from Uline. Could you please let me know which one you bought that was best for candles>

A question for you... how long did it take for you to get your business up and running? I know it takes a while to do all the needed and fun research and also doing the wax and wick testing. I've been trying to get the motivation to get my candle business going again and just not sure of a realistic time frame.

I was wondering what do you do about your return address? Im not comfortable with sharing my home address so I was looking in to a PO box or virtual mail box. Do you have any preference?

What are “care cards”? And where did you get your thank you cards
They are cards that you add to every order that tell the customer how to get the most out of their candle (I.e. trimming the wick)
And I got mine at target! Amazon also has really cute ones too :)

I haven’t had an issue! However if you’re worried, check out uline, they have cool packs and temp controlled bubble wrap

Not a silly question at all! As long as you can safely package and protect the candle inside the box you can definitely ship it in that size! That’s the size I use to ship one candle :)

What size box do you use when you are shipping 2 or 3 candles at once? I need to start buying my shipping supplies so im ready for launch August 1 n I'm stuck on what size boxes to use. I use the 8 oz Mason jars and I make clamshells.

😯 no I’ve never even heard of that happening before!
@@MemoryBoxCandleCo We use dymo labels around the shop, but if they're anywhere near extreme heat (like summer sun in the south kind of heat) they go black.

Yes of course! You can use a regular printer

Target, amazon, etc for thank you cards.
And you can design your own care cards on vista print !

These ones aren’t bubble mailers they are just normal poly mailers and I get them from amazon :)

Right now I’m just getting big rolls from my local Home Depot, I know it’s not the cheapest but it’s working for me right now. There’s also uline.com but I also know there must be other places where you could get huge amounts for even cheaper, it all depends on how much you want to order at once!

What are care cards?
They are cards you put in that essentially let the customer know how to care for their candle (trim the wick, burn 3-4 to prevent tunneling, don’t leave in a place where other items may catch fire, etc)

your doing 2 much 96% of customers do not want the extras such as thank you cards and samples. simple is better
