- Titanium Dioxide Is A Toxin!
The European Union labeled titanium dioxide as “not safe for human consumption”, and the World Health Organization classifies it as a “possible carcinogen”. This prompted the current lawsuit in California against the the make of Skittles(R) which is one of the candies where it is used to enhance colors and make the coding look smooth. Research in rodents has shown significant absorption of titanium dioxide by ingestion, inhalation, and percutaneously (through the skin). The industry claims that the levels of titanium dioxide used in cosmetics and food items are safe, and that many of the titanium dioxide particles used are too large to be absorbed. While this debate is going on, I think we can all agree that titanium dioxide is a toxin and that we should avoid exposure to it.

I don't think i wanna eat something used to make paint anymore
I was looking for an explanation based on data and although the data seems to be very murky, your video definitely helped me decide where possible to avoid it and continue to look for it despite the fact it’s in so many darn items, both food and beauty products that are out there, even in many pre-workout supplements in the fitness industry
I just saw this on a label of a multiple vitamins that I used to take 😢
It is in many products, usually used to make the colors look better. With very rare exceptions I think it is an unnecessary toxic contaminant that we should not have in our products we consume.
Funny thing or maybe the effed up thing is this chemical is banned in Europe. Thanks for the video.
I always avoid any product that contains titanium dioxide...
Also to the toothpaste? Almost every contains this ingredient
@@tomaszwojciechowski469 Toothpaste is a good thing to watch for titanium dioxide... I only buy non fluoride toothpaste made with natural ingredients...
@@syndicatedsatellite7288 how is non fluoride toothpaste legal? literally the purpose of toothpaste is to clean your teeth and it cannot do that without fluoride
@@exaltyan7952 I've used non fluoridinated toothpaste for many years... When I was in my teens, I founded when I brushed my teeth, I couldn't breathe very well after... I'm fine with non fluorinated toothpaste...
@@exaltyan7952@syndicatedsatellite7288 I switched to non fluoride toothpaste and have filters on my house that completely filter my water to be free of fluoride and other minerals and I feel so much better, more energy, I don't have "asthma" attacks from the steam in the shower, I no longer have sensitive teeth.
Well today i bought a Centrum probiotics with titanium dioxide. I don't have any k owledge about this so i search in youtube. Take 1 tablet gonna throw it out
I just noticed in Blusher
So far through out dried soup mix; make up bottle and now noticed it in Move Free Brand for joint health. So ridiculous what's added to everything and now Apeel on Fruits and Vegetables.
It almost seems that we are in some science experiment. Titanium dioxide does have no positive impact on our health, but is mostly used for cosmetic purposes.
I had it in a tattoo concealer.
It was RUBBISH
As soon as I saw it on the label I washed it off rabidly
The name alone sounds unfriendly for humans.😮
There is no major or medium toothpaste line that doesn’t do harm with some kind of fluoride or heavy metal , the color of the strip on the tube or box , the darker the color the more harm it does
Toothpastes have a lot of issues, including microplastics and fluoride. As for fluoride, one can still make the arguments that it has some benefit for the teeth. Titanium dioxide is purely in there to make it look whiter.
Thank You, Sir.
When will they stop being allowed to put this in our food?
Looks like the coppertone sunscreen has more than just zinc in it. A lot of unknown chemicals. Would like to try the zinc/coconut oil combo though.
Over exposure also causes yellow nail syndrome and severe eczema and irritation in lungs, etc.
Thanks doctor. In India titanium dioxide is frequently being used in many cosmetics.
Good to know
Not to mention the highly reactive radicals formed from the photocatalytic activity under UV attack human and animal cells too.
You glossed over the pharmaceutical usage without any elaboration. Titanium dioxide is used in many capsules to package powdered prescription medications and nutritional supplements. Its use in nanogram amounts provides an opacity to capsules that prevents damage to drugs and supplements that is posed by ultraviolet light. Surely as a medical doctor who writes prescriptions you are aware of this.
We also use mercury as a preservative in some multidose injections. Both things I prefer not to administer to people. There are alternatives usually. The amount consumed with pharmaceutical tablets will be very small. Children eating skittles is a very unnecessary exposure to this.
@@JonasKuehneMD Avoiding Skittles may also help avoid the need for some multidose injections.
@@JonasKuehneMD Capsules lined with titanium dioxide are not just used in pharmaceuticals; it is also used in thousands of different capsuled supplements taken by millions of people each day for years. Doctors and nutritionists play their role in its use.
Should I be taking supplements containg titanium dioxide? I’m currently taking gs9 and it says 4 pills a day is a serving but it contains titanium dioxide. Pleas let me know
I started taking Phyto Paris Hair Vitamins, they have great reviews but noticed they contain titanium dioxide, FDC yellow 6, FDC red 40, FDC blue and now I’m in doubt whether continue taking them
Stop taking it
dont take anything with those dyes, tell everyone you know too. You are saving their mental health in the long run, and their childrens mental health too
One a day Mens (Edge Pro) has it in it. The tablets are green.
I’m eating candy that had this as I’m watching this lol 😂
I know, they put it in there to make the colors look prettier. Not a great idea.
I have a soap with this ingredient most products I wash with do not have it thank god .🙌hand soap only
I saw and ingridients in a bag of candy and there it was!!! Titanium? WTF????
Yes, it’s in many items, even toothpaste. The manufacturers claim the amounts are small, but cumulative buildup will vary from person to person.
Hi Jonas - Heres a weird one for you...we're having our house rendered at the moment - they were finishing up yesterday....all of a sudden I started sneezing, non stop...then my throat started closing up - and I felt awful..I left the house (went a few miles away) and got some fresh air and soon after all the symptoms started to clear up......when I went back to the house later.....you could still smell the paint/render they were using - it was very strong - and all the symptoms came back.....(the lads doing it were grand - they werent even wearing masks - so it seems it was just me)....
I just looked up the ingredients of the paint/render and it contains: Acrylic dispersion, silicone emulsion, titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate, water, preservatives, additives.
Was just wondering what your take on this would be? Could I be hyper allergic to it or what do you think?
Thanks for all the great info in this vid by the way!
I don’t think the titanium dioxide would be present in the air in large amounts, the solvents can certainly trigger reactions as you described. I hope it gets better once the paint has dried.
@@JonasKuehneMD Ah ok that makes sense - as now that the paint/render has dried - my allergies have totally gone - so that would make sense that it was the solvents (never thought of that!)....
I actually love painting (DIY etc) and have never had any problem before - so it might be something specific to this product....as it isnt just a paint...
Thanks for your help!
Hey Jonas, I was about to buy a Ginkgo Biloba supplement called Tebonin EGB 761, which apparently is an Ginkgo Biloba better than ''normal'' Gingko, but it contains Titanium Dioxide so I'd better not buy it, good info. thanks.
Thank you for your comment. I’m not sure why they would need to put titanium dioxide into a supplement. Other than making it look more white. This does not make any sense to me.
Thank you for this very informative video!!!
GNC mens over 50 multi vitamin has it.
Welding aluminum 5356 alloy has titanium dioxide . what are the symptoms from decades of welding it.🎉
The question is how much of the titanium dioxide will be inhaled during welding. It is possible that it is bound to other molecules or not present in the smoke generated during welding at all. It is an irritant and can certainly cause damage in the airways. From healthline re titanium dioxide powder:
Inhaling titanium dioxide (TiO2) can have adverse health effects, including:
Pulmonary inflammation
Fibrotic and proliferative changes in the lungs
Tumor development in rats
Adverse effects on fetal development
Adverse effects on animal reproduction
Bronchitis
The candy I like to eat should be safe as long I consume in moderation, right?!
Small amounts are most likely OK, and difficult to avoid. It is in toothpaste and many other things. Over-consumption is concerning in my view.
Thank you for educating me 🙏💪
I used to use a toothpaste with this in, I immediately stopped using it, with regards to health you can't take any chances.
Good video, I've just subscribed and am gonna check out some more videos :)
Thank you! I had the same experience. I am now checking the label of my toothpaste before purchase.
I just found out that it is in a lot of my skincare products. I wonder how much of it breaks down and gets absorbed. I also read it may affect reproductive organs 😤 smh
In general, the absorption through skin is small. I am more concerned about consumption through coloring in candies and toothpaste and so on.
dont use those products.
Have you defeated James Bond yet? Jk thanks for the info dude it's very useful and a good thing to know
Hey, I have a CeraVe cream and was wondering if I should use it daily. Like you said the amount is probably very low in the amount I use which is about a finger tip worth. I’m just wondering if i should use it with moderation or cut it out in all.
It’s interesting that they put this in a cream. There is no real purpose other than making the cream look white. I think small amounts there are fine. I am more concerned about ingesting it in foods. I use Nivea cream for my face and it might not be much better. As a body moisturizer I think organic coconut oil is pretty good.
Hi! Thanks for the video and my future healthy being, very helpful video! I have a question tho, my friends came back from Thailand and gave me a present - mask for the hair (black sesame oil based , from NT group brand) and in the ingredients I see titanium dioxide. You suppose to rub it into your scalp and leave it for 10-15 minutes and wash it off. But after watching this video I tempted to just throw it away or it might be not as bad and actually can help me ?
I am not sure why they are adding titanium dioxide to a topical hair mask. If you are not ingesting the titanium dioxide then in a topical application, it should be OK. I don’t think it has a real function other than achieving a certain color.
Thank you. Good explanation
Is anyone have a idea titanium dioxide cause pemphigus disease if we breath
Oh no some of the supplements I take have titanium dioxide
Sorry to hear that. There are many brands that do not use titanium dioxide.
@@JonasKuehneMDthanks Doc I threw away the supplements that had titanium dioxide. This is helpful!

I was just eating pumpkin seeds and it has it
Wanted to ask about TI0², does it accumulate in the human body, and is there a way to remove it from body. Thanks
We do excrete titanium dioxide ultimately, but the process is very slow.
I have a soap that has titanium dioxide but it's a cosmetic grade is it safe or not cos I am not sure if it's safe to use this soap says it doesn't use any harmful ingredients or parabens but I noticed it's in the ingredients
The absorptions through the skin should be fairly small. I’m sure they only put it in there to enhance the color of the soap.
*0:50 not good anyway 😂

Dang!
For a substance to be considered toxic we need to know certain factors: since how long was the individual exposed to it?, what's the grain size of the substance?, what's the amount of the substance the inidividual was exposed to?, how was the individual exposed to the substance?
TiO2 is a relatively inert chemical that is highly stable and is also non-toxic for consumption, in large amounts it can be toxic but for that you need to eat a serious amount of TiO2 and i'll tell you that: the amount of TiO2 is so small that it's not gonna be toxic by any chance
About those articles you refer to: they are not misinforming, but you are a stupid for using any of these a your source because:
-Food grade TiO2 has larger particles, definitely not nanoparticles, it is also harder to produce TiO2 nano particles, that means it is going to be more expensive, and that means factories will not bother buying or producing it because it is more expensive than the TiO2 with larger particles.
-You can not compare any animals (primates are an exception, but remember that even though we are genetically familiar, we are different) to humans because humans regularly eat substances that are both carcinogenic and toxic for many animals, but are completely safe for human consumption, every creature responds to different chemicals differently.
-You can not state that TiO2 nanoparticles are toxic because; first of all TiO2 nanoparticles are used in materials engineering, not food production, and again, for them to be toxic, a considerable amount needs to be taken in by inhilation, oh also remember that TiO2 is toxic in small amounts only IF you ''INHALE'' it, also, the whole ''TiO2 nanoparticles are toxins'' is not confirmed and is still an ongoing research and debate, nothing definite can be said.
Ah btw, TiO2 is added to sunscreens due to it's ability to reflect or scatter UV radiation, and it's non-toxicity (it's completley fine to use a sunscreen that contains TiO2, you'll be fine).
2:09 ''it is a neurotoxin, it is a carcinogen'' yes if you inhale it it's exactly like that but let me tell you that; NO ONE INHALES THEIR FOOD.
2:28 ''interesetingly some study show that it is almost not absorbed by the skin, and some show that it can be absorbed through the skin'' yeah that happens because NOT EVEN A SINGLE ONE OF US ARE GENETICALLY THE SAME SPECIMENS, IT IS EXPECTED TO SEE BOTH OF THESE RESULTS, WHAT MATTERS IS THAT WHAT PERCENTAGE OF TESTS SHOWED THAT IT IS ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN AND WHAT PERCENTAGE SHOWS THAT IT ISN'T ABSORBED BY SKIN.
3:45 ''it forms ROS which can cause cell damage'' yeah unless you're not eating anything that contains antioxidants yeah maybe you'd get that kind of damage but remember that WE EAT SO MANY FOODS CONTAINING ANTI OXIDANTS, WHICH PREVENT THIS KIND OF DAMAGE BY A GREAT AMOUNT, thanks evolution for that.
4:09 ''world health organization (WHO) considers it a potentially carcinogenic substance'' yeah so many common foods are also considered potential carcinogens, WHO only determines if something could be a carcinogen or not, and even though it can potentially be carcinogenic, you'd have to inhale TiO2 nanoparticles for that WHICH IS VERY UNLIKELY and it is also very UNLIKELY because TiO2 is a relatively inert substance.
4:32 ''some studies shown that rodents do absorb TiO2 through their skin'' oh really? glad we're humans not RODENTS (you can't compare a rodent to a human).
5:20 ''40% nanoparticles, 60% microparticles'' that's wrong because it is a generalization, go ahead and show your papers about 10 different factories and the TiO2 they buy / produce and check the amount of nano particles and micro particles that are present in the powder, I HIGHLY DOUBT IT'S ALLOWED TO HAVE NANOPARTICLES OF TiO2 IN YOUR FOOD BECAUSE IT'S ILLEGAL YOU KNOW. (they probably have a very little amount of TiO2 nanoparticles in the powder mixtures they use which is not enough to do any damage)
7:20 ''do we need it? it has no nutritional value afterall''yeah it ain't that important in foods but you know, fancier food looks better so people may want to buy more of it because it looks fancy, food producers will still probably use it in countries where it's allowed because it raises profits.
Conclusion: change the title of the video as it is misleading. Memorize these wise words; ''The dose makes the poison'', and also remember that for any of these to happen you seriously go and do some industrial work with TiO2 without any protective gear (which is highly unlikely).
Extra knowledge about TiO2: Titanium dioxide has hundreds of uses, it is used for producing:
-Ceramics: TiO2 can be added to certain ceramics to increase some of their mechanical properties and improve it's durability as well.
-Electronics: TiO2 is used for producing capacitors and resistors, which are important components of many circuits.
-Photocatalyst: TiO2 has photocatalytic properties and that means it can use light energy to drive chemical reactions, thanks to that we can use it for water purification, air purification and we can also add it to materials that need self-cleaning properties.
-Coatings: TiO2 is used in coatings for cars, planes, bridges, and other structures to protect them from corrosion, UV radiation, and other environmental factors.
-Energy storage: TiO2 is being studied as a potential material for energy storage in batteries and other devices.
-Construction materials: TiO2 is used in the production of construction materials such as concrete, tiles, and glass to improve their strength, durability, and UV resistance.
-Production of pure titanium metal which is used for metallurgical applications: we can use it as a starting material in the production of pure titanium, using the Kroll process.
nobody is going to read all that. i'd rather listen to the guy that has the MEDICAL DEGREE
@@mike4249 don't listen someone because they have a degree
listen someone because they have knowledge about the subject coming from reliable sources
Btw, medical degree owners don't necessarily know about such knowledge, a toxicologist would know maybe, this is a highly specialized subject.
Titanium dioxide is a toxin. The amount consumed will vary from person to person. For many it may not become problematic- for some it will. Feel free to consume it if you like, but my recommendation stands that it is best to avoid it.

Can you do a review on Jarrow glutathione S-Aceryl L-Glutathione since it has titanium dioxide in it? 🥲 Doctors in Canada won't do anything for my massive enlarged lymph nodes. I'm fair-skinned but have an obsession with pale skin and I heard this Jarrow glutathione supplement makes you super white even though I am already fair-skinned.
