The DLC one does actually make sense to me. The only ones that haven't been added are ones that are licensed items like the batmobile, fast and furious stuff etc. so it's very likely that the licensing deal does not reflect the item shop model so the terms have to be renegotiated.
@@sandeep_draws I also think it's cause the item shop is so overpriced at some times, the DLC stuff sold for 2.00$ max, I don't think it wold flow well for Sigh-on-ix point of view to have the item shop have everything overpriced and have the DLC sell for 2.00$ , cause business wise the IP holder of those DLCS might get mad at Sigh-on-ix for short changing them , also I think it has to do with renewing the IP
People always seem to know or remember but there is no proof. Like I showed in the footage, there was no visual points given for individual demos. 7 has always given 20 though. I have since found old reddit comments during season 1 where people asked devs why demos didnt give points and the devs responded. So I think it's pretty clear that points per demo was never a thing. I have played since launch myself and always went for demos so I also have my personal experience to fall back on. One other test you could do (which I didnt bother) is go back to old replays and watch the scoreboard as people get demos. Anything that gave points (even if it has since been changed) will update the score board as it happens.

The simplicity of Rocket League is the reason I’ve stayed with it for so long. I played Fortnite for several years, both because of the game itself and because of my friends however at the same time I was playing Rocket League (not nearly as much as Fortnite though) and I even got my friends to play Rocket League with me. We gradually started playing more and there was a point when that’s all we played. But the simplicity of the game is what got my friends. They were so used to an always changing game that playing a game that stayed the same for years on end became boring and 1 by 1 they started going back to Fortnite, my final friend and I ended around gold 3 (we weren’t very good) and I still have a message from the last time I asked him to run some 2s. I had asked him a lot recently and he kept making up excuses so finally I said “do you not like the game anymore” which he replied “yes.” After that I solo qued for a few weeks maybe even a month until I found my new teammate and after 5 months we’re both diamond 2 in 2s. I know I kinda just said a lot of stuff most of which was pointless but I guess what I’m trying to say is that I think the simplicity of the game is what keeps so many players with the game like me but also pushes others away like my friends.
I definitely agree with that. I’m a busy person so there are times in my life where I don’t get to do a lot of gaming and it seems like other games with changing metas like Hearthstone, League of Legends, etc are overwhelming to get back into if you take large breaks or start late. Rocket League on the other hand, I have the comfort of still knowing the best strats if I have to take a break for a few weeks because of life. Edit: Plus I feel like its esports scene is the most welcoming to nonplayers too. When NBC Sports televised a tournament one time I had my dad and mom watching it and they were able to enjoy it because everyone knows the rules of soccer. Other games it seems like you have to play it a bit to even understand the slightest bit what professionals are doing
This has been a trip down memory lane. I remember instant leaving everytime rocket labs maps came 😅 I'm just glad they still count exterms even if they don't advertise them any more
Now I have the same problem with the anniversary map in rumble. I hate this map. But it is even worse, because rumble is now competitive and you can't leave. Longest 5 minutes of my life, every single time...
weirdest decision: quick play button feature that took too long: see through goal posts what we still need: better ways to organise the hundreds of cosmetic items they give us. Bugged/ resetting filters are still a thing
The thing about rocket league "not changing" is that it is changed by the players. Look at early rlcs vs now, the amount of new mechanics players have learned and adopted as normal have completely changed how the game plays.
Rocket league voice chat brings back so much nostalgia of 2017 and 2018 hearing that one kid every few game that had what sounded like the whole kitchen falling over was so fun
I think camera shake as default makes sense for the game; it's an arcade-y style game that people play for fun (mostly) and camera shake is a feature which helps juice up the game and makes it feel more impactful. People only turn it off when they want to start taking the game more seriously. The game probably feels more alive/impactful with camera shake on, but given the opportunity people will optimise the fun out of a game, hence they turn off all features that give more life to the game but distract from optimal gameplay (goodbye shake, bloom, weather; hello performance graphics).
Camera shake is pretty cool visually - it makes the ball feel like it has weight and forces you to feel it. It's terrible from a mechanical player standpoint, but the awe is real. It's the difference between immersion and total control.
I think youve forgot about unique hitboxes.. i was sad when they standardized em.. had so much fun with different hitboxes each car truly felt different
LoL. It wasn't in effect when I dropped the video but RUclips had told us it was coming soon. In reality though this is a video that was conceived, written, edited and released in only 4 days. I dont think I could have made it longer than this. My channel had two bad releases in a row at the time and I was trying to bring it back to life. Fortunately this vid did help a lot.
I don't know if it would exactly be called a feature, but I feel like Psyonix making Rumble, Dropshot, Snowday, and Hoops ranked exclusive was a bit of a hit to the casual audience of the game, definitely a weird decision on their part, deciding to alter instead of add to the available modes shouldn't really be done to that extent. I have a couple of friends who play the game casually from time to time, the most fun they have is in private match rumble since doing it in ranked just isn't an atmosphere that they are interested in, especially if I'm partied up with them and they're forced to play with much higher ranked players. I think it's definitely a needed change to make them casual playlists alongside being available as ranked if they ever do decide to go free to play, possibly even doing this before that happens (if it does).
It was hard to get games in those modes before. Casual tends to be full of people who leave after the first goal. Making them ranked made them actually playable.
Gotta agree with hah there. Yes, some people might play those modes a tad more tryhard now, but at least they stay longer and you're not left with a bunch of bots. Also the general skill level in those modes has increased I feel, which I'd also count as a positive. I think to make them ranked was the right thing to do to keep them relevant.
I agree, and also maybe remove the throwback stadium map from the rotation? Myself and all my friends absolutely despise that map, to the point that we don’t even try to win, and it seems like we play it every other game sometimes.
I strongly disagree with having only a single map shape in ranked. The examples you provide are not relevant. 1) a bigger map means too much space, and thus slower and boring gameplay. 2) a big jump in the center is not a bad idea, but it's very simple and not so much interresting in the long run, as it's just going to get used as a shot-setup each time the team gets the possession back. I think neotokyo was a great map, for example. RMP arena could also have a great place in ranked. The donut-shaped map, if textured properly, could also have a place in ranked. RMP arena has an amazing shape that could lead to more interresting 1v1s, as a missed shot doesn't lead directly into your goal anymore. It's less relevant to defend in this map.
Well your second example isn't what I was suggesting at all. I said "triple jump" as in we have a double-jump now, what if we added an extra one? I guess the direction Psyonix is trying to go (and that I mostly agree with) is that this is a *sport* and for most sports standardization is important. I honestly didn't put that much thought in to my examples but was more trying to compare drastic gameplay changes that other games make and how that might compare if Psyonix did the same thing to Rocket League. As for non-standard maps? I'm not sure we'll ever get to a position that Psyonix will think that's a good move for the game especially as the esport side of it continues to grow. Perhaps as a casual feature yes, but even now the divide is too great between players that want non-standard maps and those that dont. They went through these growing pains during the first 3 seasons of the game (I have a couple videos covering that history) I highly doubt they would want to do it all again. The only way I see such variety being brought back into the game again is by them making it easier to play custom maps made by the community.
@@Rocket_Sledge I must have misheard what you said about the tripple jump! I do remember when players were salty in the lobby because they did not like the map. I think people need to realize that it's not the map that makes them bad, it's them that need to work harder to play better in the map (if they really have issuses with how the ball bounces around). Non-standardized map in ranked is a controversial idea, but I think the main issue here is that people don't like specific maps because they think that playing these maps is correlated with defeate. This doesn't seem true to me, because when you lose, somebody else wins, and it has to average out somehow. I also think that people did not like non-standard maps like neotokyo because it was less likely to appear when we queued. I think that people would have seen it more as "standardized" if there were more textured versions of the same neotokyo map. I don't think I would be satisfied with non-standard maps in unranked (or another playlist). I would want to see pros fighting in a different arena than the actual standard maps at RLCS. I think it would add an interresting aspect to the stream. That being said, and like you explained, it doesn't matter what I think; if Psyonix is too scared to make such a move, and if this idea stays controversial, they just won't do it. I don't know how this paradigm could change now if it hasn't changed for 4 years.
You mentioned Rocket Labs and putting those maps in casual for a short time, but not that Mutators had its own casual playmode for a very short time. It was really fun, but nothing cleared a server faster than that one with the random slow mo.

Rocket Sledge it’s a personal thing I guess. This was the first video I watched, so it felt like a gentle reminder “hey, you’re still here this late in the vid, if you enjoy please drop a sub” feels better than hearing the usual tag lines 20 seconds in.
I'm thinking that when Epic Games bought Psyonix, they were preparing to move over the the Epic Games Store. I remember they mentioned something about moving it over once, and haven't heard anything since.
There have been changes to rocket league, in the past there were small uodates to ball physics, and then there was an update that made all the cars the same turn radious and then the one that made 3 car hitbix type "octane" "dominus" "merc" while other cars look different their hitboxes are equal to one of the 3 cars since that patch, when in the past all cars had different hitboxes. There have bee changes just nothing insane or really noticeable more to make the playing field more even and comp driven
Yea I wouldn't classify those under the "why" category though. Most made sense to the playerbase, even the hitbox one had a understandable purpose. The fact that people still just use the same cars makes it look like the change was pointless but I get what they were trying to do.
Tbh i hate people that use team chat for saying things like nice shot because then when i say thanks in normal chat the other team thinks im a psychopath
I think it's called luster. Sadly, from what i found out, it was a twitch drop - not obtainable now. You can always try out future shock or luster edge. It looks kinda similar.
I've always wondered why you can't just press a button in custom training to decide when the ball starts it's trajectory. This would help immensely for freestyle practice...
How does it feel to not have enough mechanical skill to perform a game mechanic invented by a gold? I've always wanted to ask you that, seeing as how you're a legend
I’d like to see Standard playlist numbers if they gave Consols access to workshops and creative maps. Or made an extra mode that was worth playing..... and then leave it in the game for more than two days.
Finally someone who mentions it. Voice chat in this game is a joke! What is the point of it at this point when I've not heard a single clear word from anyone
i know for a fact the demolitions used to give points, two points to be exact. i was surprised one day to play and find out that my demos gave me nothing.
Which is why I put a lot of time into researching this. To me it was a myth that just keeps getting passed around while there seemed to exist no picture, video, or article to back it up. Instead everyone who mentions it just seems to remember a different point value. As I have played since 2015 and was big into demos from launch, I am pretty confident they have never given points but I am also able to back up that claim with evidence. First by watching the scoreboard in old replays (that go all the way back to launch) to show that no points are awarded for demolitions. Then by going through the additional alpha and beta footage (as shown in this video). Thus I would expect to see something more than a memory to counter what I said here. I am curious though during what season/year did you remember demolitions giving points?
@@Rocket_Sledge Well this was a while back when I first started playing, must've been around season one or two. Unfortunately, I cannot give any replay files or any recordings as I was on console back then. I now play on pc.
I used to get all my points from demo-ing in order to steal MVP back in 2015, it was 50 points per demo. I don't know what season that was, but it clearly was in the game back then.
As I showed in the video: Points for individual demos was never in the game (I have also played since launch). You may be thinking of 20 point exterminations (for 7 demos).
I can assure you that they do not. That chart I show at 6:03 is from the Rocket League wiki and is for stats that had their points removed from the game. It's true it will indicate that you got a bicycle kick but there is no points. You are also correct that some stats (that both do or don't give points) may not appear on screen if you don't have the settings turned on. Extermination is one of those stats actually.
@@user-qz4bn2ui5t No. Years ago Psyonix did a hitbox standardization to try to combat that exact problem you are talking about. The cars are divided into 6 hitboxes. You can see the list here: support.rocketleague.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029832054-Rocket-League-Car-Hitboxes

The DLC one does actually make sense to me. The only ones that haven't been added are ones that are licensed items like the batmobile, fast and furious stuff etc. so it's very likely that the licensing deal does not reflect the item shop model so the terms have to be renegotiated.
Yep, agreed.
I still want the skyline .....
lol, Meaning we can only get cars like scareb in item shop xD poor psyonix, why don't they just make a new tab "ITEM SHOP/ESPORTS/DLC" ez af

I KNOW that demo's gave points after the beta. In 2016 or 2017 demo's still gave points. And then an extra 50 or 20 for getting 7 in the same match
THIS is how a sponsor spot should look like. quick and somewhat catchy through humor, not this ever repeating 2 minute long bullshit you see in literally EVERY other video and that makes you immediately fast forward. props for that 👌
The simplicity of Rocket League is the reason I’ve stayed with it for so long.

Now I have the same problem with the anniversary map in rumble. I hate this map. But it is even worse, because rumble is now competitive and you can't leave. Longest 5 minutes of my life, every single time...
weirdest decision: quick play button
feature that took too long: see through goal posts
what we still need: better ways to organise the hundreds of cosmetic items they give us. Bugged/ resetting filters are still a thing
The thing about rocket league "not changing" is that it is changed by the players. Look at early rlcs vs now, the amount of new mechanics players have learned and adopted as normal have completely changed how the game plays.
Good point. The only thing that's static is the programmed rules, we can still find new things to do within them.
as soon as I heard "This video is sponsored by Ra..." I was about to skip glad I didn't the raid dude with racon earbuds cracked me up
2:43 sad thing is i lost my mclaren for some reason
Good points. Weather is one thing I always leave on no matter what. Love the rain and snow effects.
I completely lost my batmobile when the update came out, psyonix just stole £2.59 (I think)from me
Might want to check your archived items or file a ticket with Rocket League help.
Really? I used to main Nintendo Switch and I still have all the Dlc cars that I bought. I bought almost all of them and they were all still there.
you forgot to talk about wasteland 1rst iteration and octogone in ranked
2:09
i remember playing rocket labs back in 2016
Camera shake is pretty cool visually - it makes the ball feel like it has weight and forces you to feel it. It's terrible from a mechanical player standpoint, but the awe is real. It's the difference between immersion and total control.
I think youve forgot about unique hitboxes.. i was sad when they standardized em.. had so much fun with different hitboxes each car truly felt different
Great video the amount of research put into your videos is amazing😊
Thank you so much!
Ya no problem I respect that amount of work that goes into each video. And also each video is amazing great job

Lmao I didn't expect u to reply
I would rather have both
I agree, and also maybe remove the throwback stadium map from the rotation? Myself and all my friends absolutely despise that map, to the point that we don’t even try to win, and it seems like we play it every other game sometimes.
Weird Rocket League feature: Octane hasn’t been nerfed yet
Do y'all write full essays often? Holy Jesus
You mentioned Rocket Labs and putting those maps in casual for a short time, but not that Mutators had its own casual playmode for a very short time. It was really fun, but nothing cleared a server faster than that one with the random slow mo.

I respect you tenfold now for not begging for a sub at the beginning of the video, but rather asking nicely at the end. You let me watch, and see if I actually enjoyed the content before subbing. Big ups g. That’s how it should be
The thing is, those early sub call-outs work so I don't think it's right to hate on those. Maybe I'd be more successful if I did it.
Rocket Sledge it’s a personal thing I guess. This was the first video I watched, so it felt like a gentle reminder “hey, you’re still here this late in the vid, if you enjoy please drop a sub” feels better than hearing the usual tag lines 20 seconds in.

Weird features that are missing. Anything in game to teach teamwork in a team based game and punishing teammates for not playing as a teammate
The one that has urked me was the car hit box change where the went from individual unique car hit box's to preset categories
I'm thinking that when Epic Games bought Psyonix, they were preparing to move over the the Epic Games Store. I remember they mentioned something about moving it over once, and haven't heard anything since.
It's coming, I believe it will be part of a free to play update which might be taking awhile to fully develope
Forgot to mention I'm talking about the DLC being pulled
Hey I love ur style of view keep on the good work also nice take on the ‘shadow legends’ sponsor

I’d like to see Standard playlist numbers if they gave Consols access to workshops and creative maps. Or made an extra mode that was worth playing..... and then leave it in the game for more than two days.
Honestly I think one of the worst decisions was getting rid of crates and keys and adding credits and blueprints
The way I see it, ramming a ball full speed should make your screen shake a bit, just to make it feel like you’re hitting the ball harder

Its impossible to fix according to psyonix. It’s too integrated into the core files to do anything about it.

Current RL Strange Feature: Normalized version of Starbase ARC is removed
i know for a fact the demolitions used to give points, two points to be exact. i was surprised one day to play and find out that my demos gave me nothing.
I now play on pc.
great video keep it up i subbed
Appreciate it
The Current tier feature...I win 3 games in a row and then current tier on all of them and and then i lose one i get demoted/division downed
The math checks out on how divisions work. It's not broken, but the overlap between ranks can be a little confusing.
I'm fairly certain you still get points for bicycle hits and maybe even aerials, it just doesn't show up on screen unless you change the settings.
@@Rocket_Sledge Ah, okay.
I wish that every car had for example 1 of 4 possible hit boxes so there would a wider variety of vehicles instead of everyone using the octane.
Did you know there is currently 28 cars that have an octane hitbox? I think this "problem" of people using the octane isn't really fixable.
@@Rocket_Sledge Really? Are they all DLCs or something? I only knew about the Fennec and one other.
@@user-qz4bn2ui5t No. Years ago Psyonix did a hitbox standardization to try to combat that exact problem you are talking about. The cars are divided into 6 hitboxes. You can see the list here: support.rocketleague.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029832054-Rocket-League-Car-Hitboxes
