@lordlingcp yes I'm slovenian and I try to be in Planica every year - it's a wonderful experience to see the flights live. It's also exciting to go there in the summer and get on the top of the flying hill, it gives you the right feeling of the size.
Man, freu ich mich auf das Fliegen in Vikersund! Nach 6 Jahren könnte da endlich mal wieder der WR fallen! Also ich finds echt krass, wie verfälschend das TV-Bild sein kann, fast jeder würde sagen, dass der mindestens auf die Weltrekordlinie gesprungen ist, dabei waren das doch noch 3 Meter weniger, aber 3 Meter sind halt bei so einem Fliegen wirklich kaum sichtbar...
i miss the old ski flying hills like planica HS215. today, all of the K200's share the same flight curve: very low and easy to stand at hill size with telemark, but almost impossible to stand +15m hill size.

Last year our constructors said that the hill in Planica could safely allow flights up to 245 m, but then the jury didn't allow them. Then there's also the question of current situation on the hill - termics and so on. But the good news is that FIS changed the rules and the max. distance now is 250 m so I'm really looking forward to next weekend to see something big in Vikersund and then in Planica.

Ahonen had to "compress" because of the height and that caused him to fall because there was to much pressure. And since then our technitians also adjusted the radius of the landing zone some more so it is even safer to land until 245 m - at least so they say.

But what I was talking about was the situation on the hill on the exact day of the flying you can see in this video. I was there and the day was perfect for long flights. Strong but steady wind TROUGHOUT the hill. But you can see for yourself, Hajek didn't have not even a slight problem landing at 236. And as I said, Planica had the radius ready for 245 m last year.
@Snabelfaen noo im reading the same website too and they want to build a hill like the one you said but FIS Standards has to aprove so I think that New Vikersund Hill will be a bit bigger than Planica was this year Oh and By the Way - and this is for everyone. Planica is also in construction . In 2012 will be K-215 and HS250
I am 100% sure that if Ahonen had waited with his landing till the very end, he would have jumped maybe even round 250 metres... He did admit it himself once i.e. in a Norwegian talk-show several years later... What is more - I am also convinced that there would have been possible much more to stand that feat in such a case...
Kurwa, jednak na tej nowej Planicy, zwłaszcza po przesunięciu HS na 240 metr, nie ma tego klimatu. Nawet jeśli ktoś skacze ~250, to nie widać, żeby jakoś specjalnie się wysilał, bo ląduje zaraz za ostatnią czerwoną linią, poza tym za bardzo jest tam pogłębiony zeskok i sztucznie to wygląda. Tutaj, jak zostawił rozmiar skoczni daleko za sobą, odnosi się wrażenie naprawdę niebotycznego lotu, w dodatku to lądowanie w nicości, gdzie nie ma pewności co do warunków pokrywy śnieżnej
@MrQoors Ahonen flew way too high to control the landing of that 240m jump, and Romoeren also didn't have any trouble landing the 239m. I for one think it's really possible to land a 240m jump, Ahonen's jump was just too big for Planica
@pmarko1 lol you cant say that just like this. it heavily depends on the wind: for example if u have a strong front wind in the LAST part of the flight then landing is safe cuz it carries you and just slowly go down. If you only have a strong front wind in the middle part of the flight then you gain height but then suddenly theres no wind at the last part and you fall down from 5 meters......

Luke 16 wäre vielleicht noch möglich gewesen am Ende, bei Hajek auch 3 Luken mehr, aber dann weiß man nicht... 1. Wie viel Meter mehr das bringt 2. Wie der Landedruck erst bei 240+ ist Aber ich denke, wenn alles passt, kann man schon gefahrenlos auch über den Weltrekord springen :)

Kakorkoli, če si iz Slovenije, potem nimaš opravičila, da vsaj enkrat ne greš v živo gledat poletov, ker je res enkratno. Je pa res, da zadnja leta ne moreš čisto blizu, ker so postavili vse tiste VIP tribune, pa z zadnje strani je zaprto in ne moreš pod vznožje itd. - skratka gre na slabše in ne na bolje.

sieht so aus als wollte Ammann jedes Prozent aus dem Flug herausholen um zu schauen ob es für den Weltrekord reicht, darum auch grundsätzlich später zur Landung ansetzte, sicherlich ist es auch sehr flach.Ich glaube Hajek kam grundsätzlich höher und probierte den Sprung mehr zu geniessen und nicht auf Biegen und Brechen einen Weltrekord zu schaffen. Sie hatten ja auch einen Altersunterschied Hajek war erst Anfang 20, und musste nicht unbedingt auf Biegen und Brechen da den Weltrekord schaffen
Aber die Startlucke wurde verkürzt danach;/. Shade dass wir nich die Lucke 24 oder 22 zum ende hatten :(((( Amman könnte den Weltrekord abgebrochen doch! :(((( Hoffer - du Schwanz! It would be completely safe to go another 4 or 5 meters. As you can see Hajek didn't have any problems at all to land on 236 m.

He have no problems to land because he is little and light! Other Jumpers have more problems than him!
