There we go with shock troops rant again. It's probably a hot take from my side, but just look how much of a waste of time trying to clutch this was. As much as actually pulling off the clutch feels amazing, having your hands full with groups of maulers and gunners is plenty to deal with without having to dash around like rabbit on coke trying to dodge 5 trappers, flamers, snipers and a slew of other specialists, not even mentioning pairing shocktroops with monstrous specialists. We have high int blackout modifier that spices things up decently and makes game much more moody, but it almost never appears, or only melee/only ranged maelstroms that are much more interesting. But nah, gotta crank out that high intensity shock troops on what feels like 80% of high end missions so group is stuck for 10 minutes in thye same spot fighting endless stream of disablers and one misstep on one teammate is an instant run ender.
“I’m bad at high intensity shock troop and I want to win” is all I’m hearing bro, I personally have like a 75% ish successful clear rate for high int shock troop with pubs and like, I think that’s totally acceptable. It’s auric damnation, the hardest difficulty in the game? I think playing as if a single misstep can cost you the game is par for the course 🤷♂️
I hear you though. I find it's a bit much for my skill depending on the difficulty tier but I also don't find them too interesting either way. Sometimes it's fun to do a quickplay and find myself in an absolute shitstorm. Sometimes it's fun for an extra challenge. Doing pub groups though? It just gets annoying because communication becomes more important the harder it gets and you end up with people who are way out of their league. There's a difference between hard and frustrating.
On one hand yes, I can't handle high int shock troops well unless I'm playing with friends and so I avoid it when just joining random pubs. On the other I don't mind it too much, ridiculous difficulty has it's places in games like this too for absolute mad people. My actual problem is how common this modifier is, despite other options existing at any point you look at auric board at least half the missions are high int shock troops, with maelstroms having this modifier in like 90% of cases I bother checking it, and I go "fine, normal damnation it is I guess".
Hi shock runs are rather easy with the right team and most people arent capable of clutching so if we lose a run its quick and painless and we load right back up again not that big of a deal tbh. Also monster special missions arent even that difficult unless theyre shock troop because bosses are incredibly easy to destroy, its the ads and the extra specials that make that mission difficult. A good team will destroy a boss in less than 30 seconds so regular monster special missions are just more fun than anything else.
I've been running brain burst warpflame spread and on elite, with enhanced blitz keystone and scrier's with a newer knife. I've been having a bunch of fun with it.
I am the worst at playing gun psyker so I never play gun psyker. I guess its just me not wanting to get proficient at psyker melee enough to deal with big ass hordes cuz i dont have staff that bothers me about gun psyker. Much more melee focused when id rather just use a staff.
im assuming the build is using brain blast (the passive that triggers on hit) + scriers gaze + disrupt destiny ??? ill have to try this with the revolver i love watching shit go BOOM.
As a new psyker i have questions. How are you sometimes reducing peril without doing anything, and what is randomly increasing your peril even when you're not using headpop??
Not sure if you found your answer already. But Scrier's Gaze basically slowly increases your peril up to 100% then it comes back down after peaking. It provides some buffs while doing so. Scrier's won't kill you by going to 100%, careful with the space magic though, danger to explode is real.
