One thing to know when you test your “new” running light wiring (DRL) the e-brake must be off and the engine running or the DRL circuit is disabled. It took me quite awhile to figure this out. Great video! Just remember the e-brake and engine running.
I have a 2013 FJ and just installed the the Spec-D headlights. I left the DRL plugged in as I don’t run the DRL during the day and just keep the lights off. Is your DRL plugged in or unplugged in this video? Appreciate your content as I used your install video. Please advise.
hey i know this comment is 9 months ago, idk if this really helps much but after talking to some fj cruiser redditors, sounds like for this mod its best to keep the DRL plugged out
Thanks for the excellent instructions. I have the same set. Question..Is the black connector on the headlight the DRL connector that needs to be unplugged?
Thanks for this video. This topic is not easy to find. I have an 08 fj and the similar lights I purchased just leave a black and a white wire separate for the halos… so the lights work right now but the halos are not. Can I just send this wired directly to the drl fuse?
So I figured I would follow up on this after getting my Dynamik/Spec-D LED Headlights. On 07 to 09 FJ's there is no modification needed to run the halos as DRLs. I just unplugged the DLR Harness behind the drivers side headlight. If you just turn the headlight switch to the middle setting the halos turn on by themselves, one more turn and the headlights come on. So I can have them completely off, run the halos as DRL or full on.
Interesting, thanks for the really detailed instructions which so few people go into. I wonder if this is applicable to my 2008 which has DRL lights constantly on rather then switchable. I ordered those same lights as well.
@@elvisrodriguez3620 Honestly I probably wont try it. As time has gone on I've grown annoyed with the lights constantly on. Probanly just going to unplug the DRLs. Not sure I would wanna put that extra wear on the LED Halos.
just to add some clarity. this is not necessary to use the DRLs independently. The dimming you get is exactly the same you get with the OEM lights. awesome video though. Ill be using this ad a fuse idea for my grill marker lights. Cheers
SPEC D tuning. Also known as "Dynamik" Enjuku Racing has them much cheaper then Freedom Outfitters. Also on your 08 this mod is not necessary to run the Halos by themselves. You do need an LED Flasher Relay so you dont get fast blinking turn signals.

This is the exact problem I've been trying to figure out since I got these same headlights from freedom retrofits. Thanks for the detailed info!!
Thanks for clear demonstration, I will try it on my 2010 middle east edition which originally has no DRL.

but are your tail lights also on and the interior lights dimmed due to being in a "night time" driving mode?
@@raineharkins3872 Yes the tailights are on, not sure about the interior lights, its daytime you can't see them anyways 🤣
Hi
I bought the same lights but the head lights is not blue it’s warm white just like the stock lights
Is it possible to replace the bulbs
Thanks

I was wondering the same, just got an 08 2 weeks ago. Not a fan of the oem headlights, which headlights are those?

How do they operate as DRLs, after engine start?
