  • Maybe I forgot about the feature since I rarely use my T480's slugging Trackpoint nipple.
    Nonetheless it blows my mind.

    0:16 It appears you're applying a lot of lateral force and movement to the nub? Yesterday, I realised that it's way easier to press down on the bottom part of the nub if I want to move the pointer down (as opposed to trying to push it like a car's gear shifter from the top side). As for tmux; I stick to its default bindings and use Ctrl-B instead of the screen-style Ctrl-A.

    My thumb almost never leaves the middle button. :) Scrolling, middle-clicking links, pasting selected text, it's so useful. The only thing I don't like about my keyboard is the Windows logo and menu button, so I epoxy painted those blue like my enter key and use them as my super keys in i3.

I like to use middle click to forces links open in new tab and close a tab without aim to the "x" close button. My OS is Linux Ubuntu 20.04. I did not realize about this feature and now I like more yet of my Thinkpad thanks to you Sr.Kai.

    I found this feature on another forum just before I came across this video.
    I was searching specifically for how to scroll using the trackpoint on my ThinkPad E15 because it makes my fingers hurt doing a two finger scroll on long pages all the time.
    The only thing I need to figure out next is how to get Lenovo to move the trackpad over to the right on their laptops.
    Being right handed, it hurts my right wrist after using the touchpad so far to the left after a while.
    Looking at the positioning right now as i type with the laptop on my lap, ideally, the trackpad needs to be above my right thigh. Instead it's more in line with the zipper on my trousers!
    I've got no idea why manufacturers don't pay any attention to ergonomics anymore when designing things 🙄

    I use it all the time, and I agree with Failbit, the one thing that's better is the trackpoint itself. It worries me that people don't understand how much better this mouse is than the trackpad! (I keep being afraid Lenovo is going to give it up. Please... No! It's the best!)

    But if you didn't know that you could scroll with the middle button, then what did you think the middle button was for? By the way, I have never used any ThinkPads, and just plan to purchase T15 Gen 2 when it comes out. But I already knew that you can scroll like this, because I just looked at the ThinkPad User Manual, in TrackPoint section, when I first started looking at the ThinkPad series.
    -
    But anyway I prefer this button as an imitation of clicking the mouse wheel (middle button), which can perform many convenient actions. And I do not like scrolling in any form, as it is unpleasant to my eyes (even on iPad's 120 Hz screen). Therefore, the PgUp/PgDn buttons are what I use all the time. I especially hate scrolling on tablets and smartphones, as there simply is no alternative to the PgUp/PgDn keys.

    • @kaihendry
      @kaihendry  3 года назад

      middle click = paste

    • @Oleg__
      @Oleg__ 3 года назад

      @@kaihendry Strange, I never heard that by default this button is used for the Paste command. There was always a choice of two main options: either middle click or scrolling combined with TrackPoint there. This is clearly visible in the TrackPoint settings. Therefore, people who have looked at those settings at least several times cannot fail to know about this possibility.
