Thoughts on the game: Pros: The game is beautiful, there is no doubting that. The game is enormous, bigger than last year’s Assassin’s Creed Origins. The fighting mechanics are simple but fun. The light and heavy mechanics can start to feel repetitive but the multitude of the abilities do a good job of keeping things fresh. Ancient Greece is so rich with myths, tales and legends that it is the absolute perfect setting for a game like this. The skill trees really let you customize your hero to your playstyle. If you like playing more long range then you can upgrade the Hunter tree. If you like the close quarter combat, then you can focus on upgrading the Warrior tree. Or if you love the stealth, then you can work on your Assassin skill set. Or just find a balance between all 3. There are tons of side quests and things to do in the world. You can go treasure hunting, help the locals with their problems, romance NPCs, sail around and battle ships, hunt and so on. It took us over 60 hours to beat the entire main Odyssey quest and maxed out our level to 50 and there are still some islands that we haven’t even laid our feet on. There’s still dozens if not hundreds of side quest we could still explore. Ship combat is awesome. Nothing revolutionary here, but just perfecting everything we’ve seen before in Assassin’s Creed ship combat. Alexios (and Kassandra) are charismatic characters with some genuinely funny moments. This is probably the richest cast of characters the series has ever had. Cons: With that being said, the voice acting has some absolutely atrocious moments. Luckily most of it falls under the "so bad it’s good" category. The voice acting was so terrible sometimes that it was actually funny even when they didn't intend that. This might not be for everyone, as it can completely break your immersion if you hate the voice acting. But I found myself amused and entertained by most of it. This is definitely a grind fest. For the most part it’s not bad since the side quests and gameplay are so good. But where the grind becomes a big issue with me is when it ruins the pacing in the main quest. At one point we went nearly 20 hours without seeing the main villain or hearing about them. Glitches. Like clipping through walls, certain missions not triggering. Nothing extreme but worth nothing. The modern story is as much of an after thought as it has been the past couple of iterations. At this point, they should just abandon it if they’re going to pay so little attention to it. There are strands of intrigue in the present day story, but as always, it just leaves us with more questions instead of providing any answers. I will say though, there seems to be a big nostalgia bias for the Desmond storyline from fans. Desmond's story was better than this but I remember everyone was complaining about how boring the modern day story was back then. The modern story was never particularly good imo. Overall I’d give the game a 9 out of 10. Even though it was a grind sometimes, it was always fun. If you’re an Assassin’s Creed purist, this game might not be for you. This is not an Assassin’s Creed game per se. No assassins or templars. There's dialogue choices. Loot. It’s very different from the traditional Assassin’s Creed experience. But if you can look beyond that and just want to play a fun RPG with great stories, wonderful characters and a richly detailed world, then this is the game for you.
The story link to the Assassins is in the first payable DLC. It should have been included in the base game. Just because Layla Hassan and the Animus make guest appearances Ubi calls it an AC game.
The funny part is people complain that this game is so unlike assassins Creed because of this new style but they are forgetting why this game exists. Dozens of fans complained to ubisoft about the linear gameplay in unity and syndicate, they complained that it was always the same " find and assassinate this guy" routine and ubisoft gave them something new and they still complain
People might say Kassandra's voice acting is better but 50:58 is my preferred version of that line-reading the way he really rubs it in and impugns him with the "did it hurwt your feewings?"
Well I discovered a little detail in both parts with Kassandra and Alexis Separately. While she is more serious and stern Alexios jokes and makes fun of the cyclops. It's why I prefer Alexios rather then Kassandra.

No no one can snap a soldier’s neck in half one handed- and the Persian soldiers were not slaves... sorry but a 300 the comic movie is not history... the Persians had SOME slave soldiers mostly as light militia or localized guard units... they were almost never part of a massive campaigning army- Plus this guy punching someone with a helmet? How did that bloody leonidas’ face? It should’ve broken the Persians hand

Well, too bad. I don't have the key but I know a guy who might have it. Wait, he didn't have it? He said I can decipher the map to its location? Well, you got to do something for me while I do that.

That my friend is a poor reason to call oneself as an True Actor
@@infinityhand6569 Well, 2/3rd players considered Kassandra as intimidating despite Alexios being canon Deimos. So, yeah, just because Ubisoft want to shove Gender Equality bull crap doesn't mean players will accept it. Not trying to be sexist, but Alexios truly represents as a Spartan Hero. Also, look at armors, it's obvious that except for Artemis and Amazonian armor, the rest of the armors are created for bulky and muscular Alexios. I mean the helmet of Spartan Armor fits the face of Alexios more prominently than of Kassandra's so, it's obvious that Alexios was to be the only hero but then the management forced them to add Kassandra for gender diversity. Also, the Athenians were very sexist towards women yet in game both Alexios and Kassandra were treated equally, which is again a wrong depiction. In fact, the story could have become more interesting if they made it a struggle for Kassandra to overcome sexist opinions of Athenians.
People arguing over who is better - Kassandra and Alexios. I played as Kassandra so I'm watching this video to see Alexios in action. Alexios is much better at the more comedic scenes but, to me, Kassandra is better at the emotional scenes but also at just being a general badass. Alexios kind of comes off as being over the top while Kassandra has a more sinister tone to her voice in the times when it's needed. I think, more than anything, it's always going to boil down to who the person has played as. With as many hours as this game takes, it's hard not to lean towards your character that you've grown to know.
I miss the beautiful looking combat from the older looking games.. its still nice to see it all made into a movie, so i dont have to waste money, Thanks GLP
Best AC since 1 - just couldn't stop playing until i finish the game and see everything. Clocked 120 hours in a single play-through.... And the choices are the best thing that happened to this series - choice you made actually can impact the game latter. Example : in the first island you start at - you can choose to free a family of 4 that is accused to be sick by "blood fever" and condemned to death as there is no cure. You can let them die or kill the priest+soldiers and let them go. But latter after some time - if you go back to the island and you let them go, the whole island would be devastated by the disease ....
This make me sad seeing this comment DX just bought the game a few weeks ago, haven't finished it and came here to see the first half of the game as Alexis......but I haven't come back to the island yet and I let the family go ...
Alexios was a straight up bore. Playing as Kassandra was a dramatically more interesting experience. It was the exact same story, really... she's just a much more compelling character.
@@rubemortenson1724 She's the exact same. She's not really better. Alexios was more natural, while also being less emotionally available in the game. His rage is a better fit for the moments when he gets angry at Deimos. And him saying Malaka is much better. I played both of them and nothing is exactly wrong with Kassandra, but she never felt like a natural protagonist to me.
@@rubemortenson1724 As someone who played as Kassandra in the first playthrough and then replayed it as Alexios I can hardly agree with you. Alexios was better, more natural, and more historical accuracy.
One of the coolest videos you've made. It's amazing. I only have one suggestion about the mythical boss kills... the story would flow far smoother if you scattered them throughout the game and edited them to make sense. Only because there is a point where Alexios says he killed the minotaur but he hadn't yet. Plus it would better balance out the myth and legend
I am not sure. For instance, if you are reliving someones memories and playing the feel of history you shouldn't have choices, as you are in fact reliving it and trying to do your best to stick to it. That is why most people have a problem with the new AC. I like what they did with combat, as it now isn't just holding RMB and waiting to counter. But story wise i really don't :/
Thank you for doing this. I got through 30 hours of the slog but I'm just sick of the whole "complete these four tasks for me and then I'll help you complete half of this quest" thing that goes on for the whole damn game. Can confidently say if I tried to get to the end of the game I would've lost my mind
It was the best AC Game by a landslide. You might consider giving it another chance. I put 500+ hours into it and I would gladly play it again from the beginning.
I wish they brought back historically accurate (correctly proportioned) weapons and NPCs. Ever since Origins, with its bulky shields, oversized khopeshes and giant soldiers, AC feels cartoony. It breaks immersion, as its inconsistent with the style of the previous games.
The voice acting's not great, but I've heard worse so this is easy for me with handle. The facial expression works is AMAZING! That alone makes up for any flaws.
Well I liked the whole story of the game till now. To me adventure is all that matters and thanks for the creator who took time to give me the whole adventure
I bought this game recently but It didn't keep me playing for long. The beginning was very slow, it didn't felt like an actual Assassins Creed game, but more like the Witcher (I saw someone mention it), especially when it comes to investigating quests, but with far less narrative. Although the game has very interesting main story, to proceed you have to do hundreds of side quests that have no side story at all and are mostly generic like "Kill 30 bandits" and so on. This was breaking the immersion for me as well as RPG style sponge mechanics which were not present in earlier Assassins creed games. Last night I took a look again at the first Assassins Creed game and it's still superior to this one in many ways (beside graphics).
Agreed with most of your points, but you really need to play through AC1 again if you think it's better. The main story was so repetitive and predictable. Garbage. Other than the fact that AC1 was the OG (and that deserves recognition), it really does not outclass this game imo.
I think Ubisoft is using a new facial tech, some may not like it, but I don't mind it. It's a step in the right direction, I am wondering if they used some level of mocap. Planning to buy this game soon, but wont play it till i am done with Origins.
@@blackvial In AC2 for example you were wanted by the city, you had to hide, travel across rooftops, blend into the crowds, bribe heralds. And if you were spotted by the guards you had two options, to run. Or to hide. Nowadays AC is all about fighting and killing. It devolved Into a crappy RPG (most RPG's are great)
Also people I think it’s best to stay off internet just so you don’t have to hear children say play as kassandra kassandra is the cannon that’s why I don’t bother on internet that much when I play these games
Though Ubisoft made the genius decision to make Kassandra's story canon, which means Alexios's story is not canon. Because of a new book where Kassandra is the main character.
Yeah, but the novels are canon to the games what happens in them reflect the game, although they do the worst job at conveying that. In fact many major plot points that have an impact on the games are not even mention in the games. It's really stupid.
65firered I don't really get what you're trying to say. In the game, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, both player-chosen protagonists are equally canon, period. There's nothing else to be said because that is all there is to be said. Unless one of them is later retconned or one is officially canon over the other, some time in the future. As of now, both are officially canon.
I just restarted the game (but with my old equipment and level) and this bit hasn’t come up? It started with the eagle flying around Kephallonia, did I do something or does it not play when you restart the game story
So I'm not exactly clear on the differences. Let me see if I have this right. Mercenaries are the elite of the elite and there's a limited number of them in the game, and you can hunt them down, but you can't pay off the sponsors. Bounty Hunters are endless and acts as a morality system, and you can pay off the bounty on your head, or you can kill the bounty hunter and the sponsor. Do i have that right?
Or if you are smart - you knock the mercenary unconscious and recruit him/her for your boat. You still get the spot and the loot and you get usually really good lieutenant.
People say that the voice acting throws them off but this is how a greek person sounds when they speak greek (trust me, i would know, cuz im greek LOL) so it was honestly funny but also quite welcoming to hear them speak this way, it made it more "realistic" and honestly i quite enjoyed the broken english accent xdddddd also the constant use of the word malakas is just cracking me up every single time "We should choose a greek word to have our characters use every time to remind the players that they are greek" "What about malakas?" "PERFECT" 10/10 use of word frfr LMAO
Really cool of Ubisoft to give you a copy of the game for this, rather than being dicks about these movies. Some other companies with a flagship action/adventure franchise featuring a sword-wielding hero in funny clothes could learn a thing or two. Nintendo, I'm talking about Nintendo.
4:46:50 Perikles is being unwise. He has a treatable condition with the best physician in the known Greek world at his beckon call, but his foolish martyr complex is getting in the way of him making a wise, rational decision. Athena didn't forsake him; she gave him every tool he could possibly want and he unwisely decided to squander every one of them except Alexios, the last of those options to present themselves. For a follower of the wisdom goddess, Perikles made a dumbass decision.
thank u for the amazing content! But why nobody uses shield break ability - it eases your work so much, reloads quickly and gives damage to non-shielded enemies

Irrelevant but I love Anthousa’s outfit. Red with gold strings and gold jewelry. Gorgeous.

This Assassin's Creed reminds me of Assassin's Creed: Black And Red Flag with the Ship Missions.
With as many hours as this game takes, it's hard not to lean towards your character that you've grown to know.
bruh the oil making part Im ded how could you ! unless if its intentional lol

4:10:17- spoken like someone who never played the old assasin's creed games XD
Best AC since 1 - just couldn't stop playing until i finish the game and see everything. Clocked 120 hours in a single play-through....
And the choices are the best thing that happened to this series - choice you made actually can impact the game latter. Example : in the first island you start at - you can choose to free a family of 4 that is accused to be sick by "blood fever" and condemned to death as there is no cure. You can let them die or kill the priest+soldiers and let them go. But latter after some time - if you go back to the island and you let them go, the whole island would be devastated by the disease ....
This make me sad seeing this comment DX just bought the game a few weeks ago, haven't finished it and came here to see the first half of the game as Alexis......but I haven't come back to the island yet and I let the family go ...
do you intentionally fail every recipe and every memory based task on purpose? cuz i facepalm every time :')

Glad I'm not the only one thinking that
Alexios really touched my heart i haven't felt like it since i played Ezio
When did Assassins Creed become Witcher?
Since Sapkowski didn´t get any money from CD Projekt Red, so now he is trying take over Ubisoft.
That’s more of a good thing
The plot thickens
I am not sure. For instance, if you are reliving someones memories and playing the feel of history you shouldn't have choices, as you are in fact reliving it and trying to do your best to stick to it. That is why most people have a problem with the new AC. I like what they did with combat, as it now isn't just holding RMB and waiting to counter. But story wise i really don't :/
Omega Squad Teemo
That's a good point

Thank you for doing this. I got through 30 hours of the slog but I'm just sick of the whole "complete these four tasks for me and then I'll help you complete half of this quest" thing that goes on for the whole damn game. Can confidently say if I tried to get to the end of the game I would've lost my mind
It was the best AC Game by a landslide. You might consider giving it another chance. I put 500+ hours into it and I would gladly play it again from the beginning.
Assassin's creed : Odyssey (Reduce air assassinate damage and remove counter assassinate)

I wish they brought back historically accurate (correctly proportioned) weapons and NPCs. Ever since Origins, with its bulky shields, oversized khopeshes and giant soldiers, AC feels cartoony. It breaks immersion, as its inconsistent with the style of the previous games.
They weren't oversized...

The Best story of all AC games.
Stop the drugs
The first AC was more repetitive than this game
Suuuuppp good stuff bro
4:57:23 that guy in the back 😂 came in like superman
I think Ubisoft is using a new facial tech, some may not like it, but I don't mind it. It's a step in the right direction, I am wondering if they used some level of mocap. Planning to buy this game soon, but wont play it till i am done with Origins.
They are probably using motion capture and facial scans now instead of it being all animation based
They are using mocap. They did a really good job in the scenes that really mattered.

Do Alexios and Kassandra both have different storylines? If so, are you going to do Kassandra's story as a game movie as well?
They do not. If you choose one, the other simply takes the place of the other.
Though Ubisoft made the genius decision to make Kassandra's story canon, which means Alexios's story is not canon. Because of a new book where Kassandra is the main character.
65firered Not in the game. They are both canon in the game. In the novel, Kassandra is canon. The creative director said this himself.
No, you don't.
