as much as I respect Sonic Youth, they had no business butting into the black metal scene via a cokehead. the scenes of indie and black metal should stay separate, mutual respect is fine but that's it.
that being said they inspired a lot of bands, including Voivod. apparently Kubinski was a fan of early White Zombie from the same no-wave/no-core scene of mid 80s NYC. now Rob is a director although he should put the band back together and go for their older sound.
All top musicians. Their first LP encapsulates just how concise and phenomenal they were. The double taps on the snare kills me. I’ve never heard any other punk drummer play like that. Each member of this band carved their own unique style and sound.
Man, if only I'd been born about 13 years earlier, u probably would've caught them in Oklahoma! Oh well, im glad i discovered them at age 13 when this was 13 years old. Changed my life.
Too bad there is no cable content like this anymore. Internet has been a blessing however I think people have become a lot more closed off to new ideas. Never stop rebelling against the norm and keep on playing for the sake of play! Cheers!
Still sound as killer today as when I bought those first 2 records (Cows And Beer 6 song 7" ep and self titled first album). Classic stuff, and love this video from their prime era. Thanks for posting.
Moulding the minds of children around the planet.(myself included). Die Kruzen set the bar very high, very early for every other band on the planet to aspire to. Their recorded music and beautiful living colour videos will remain that way forever. 🤘 👉🇨🇦🌎♥️🎶♾
I made my best music at their age here. But I get what you mean... like how do you have the wherewithal and context at such a young age to just play like that. Pretty cool stuff.
So many songs on this cable show, im from so cal and was in the scene back then and i heard of them and a couple songs i heard of some where...Wish i had acess to the records back then.it was hard to find new bands if they were not from,LA,SF OR NY.
Am I surprised these guys actually have some intellectual depth? The slow-paced interview seems so ironically opposed to the energy of their work, but then again, how excited can you get over a silly interview on cable? Love their eponymous album.
These guys were literally the snartest thing going on in hardcore at the time. There's a smart accuracy only rivaled by the Bad Brains. Voivod owes their sound to them
For a brief period of time Die Kreuzen was the greatest fucking hardcore band on earth.
Next to poison idea
One of the most underrated bands of all time, ahead of their time.
They were on fire in 1983. Damn. Thurston Moore wasn't exaggerating about those times in the 1980s "when Die Kreuzen was the best band in America."

just my opinion. its ok to disagree.

🙄
Moore said that about Die?

I glad to have lived at the Punk House with Die Kruezen in the 80s

Thank you!
One of my favorite hc bands of all time! This video is great!

That may be true but Bad Brains beat em to the punch a few yrs earlier. Any skeptic can look at the BB show at C.B's in '82. It's on Y.T
The _truly_ old school spirit, simple and with attitude...thank you very much for sharing !!
Imagine something like 80s hardcore being a social menace these days... these guys are squeaky clean
Nice interviewer lady: friendly, doesn't patronize them
Kind of NPR but she’s not playing the ‘better than you’ card. Kind of rare for that time.
Baffled for over 30 years how it's possible to make music like this in your early years,...
passion and frustration are very powerful

My uncle cooked for them at the odd rock. Along with the exploited, couch flambeau.. Makes me so happy to be from milwaukee
This is so awesome
soooooooooo glad you posted this !
"Punk Rock has a reputation for being really violent. Are you into that? Are you violent?" #quincypunks
Aww man, thanks for the #quincypunks in your comment! I almost forgot about those guys! Great stuff!
We're all from Milwaukee and looking for fresh bodies to disembowel and eat...with cheese, of course...
Jeffery is that you? I thought you were killed in prison?!😅
Met these guys at summerfest in the 80's
this is freakin' awesome
Fuck.YESSS!!
I am still stuck at Screamin' Tuna Skate Shop!
13:20 Nick runs for mayor...Against Mayor Maier, WOW!

Nothing is opposed to anything, its your own bias

Sellouts
What an empty, meaningless phrase.
