- www.tedxeuston.com Emeka Keazor trained and worked as a Lawyer both in Nigeria and the UK until he quit in 2012 after a series of personal challenges. He redefined his life-goals, focusing primarily on his community and charity work. Wanting to transform his hobby as an amateur historian into his profession, he enrolled in Post-Graduate studies in History. His focus has been unearthing hitherto unknown gems in Nigeria's past, connecting modern day Nigeria to a genuinely glorious past.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
Very important that the history thought in our schools should be expanded to include this. We need to learn who we are.
Thank you all so very much. I will however post a couple of corrections i.e clarifications/omissions: a. Mohammed Ibn Mohammed al Fulani Al Kisnawi studied in Katsina at the Gobarau before leaving for Egypt in 1732 on the Hajj, in my haste of delivery, it might have seemed as if he was at the Gobarau University in the 14th century. b. Ore Green was the first African female Pharmacist. I was well over my allotted time, rushed through delivery hence these corrections become imperative.
Well done. Very deep. Very enlightening. However, I often feel that the Igbo are too catholic (universalist) for their own good. Consequently, they are virtually "lost" in Nigeria. I hope that one day they will rediscover themselves and their unique ethos through the restoration of Biafra.
Brilliant delivery. Refreshing to see that the "Lions" are beginning to have their own historians.
Please Sir could you help me with a favour: I have been searching online (to no avail) for these two pamphlets published in Nigeria in the early 60's by two regional govts. They are:
1) SALAMA: Let us face the facts. (By the Northern regional govt)
and,
2) UPCAISM (by the Western regional govt.)
Could you please help me fine tune my search with possible leads or links. I know you have got the skill to dig up the past and forage through nests of information.

The Nigerian government need to teach this kind of history in school that is how Nigerians can know how great Nigerians is instead of teaching us about Europeans history.

The word "Nigerian" has been in use as far back as 1862. wow.

+Ed Keazor I appreciated your presentation. In fact, it was this that led me into other areas of Nigeria's history. I did find maps of Africa from Princeton University which is titled "Evolution of the Map of Africa" and it even appears that even as far back as 1554 Nigeria was in use as a name (but in Latin). Again, thanks for the information you have put out. It will change Nigeria and how we all perceive ourselves.
