    I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed that. It was candid, interesting, informative and didn't have dreamy eyed people looking out of the back of their van overlooking the beach pretending that they never suffer from condensation. Great stuff.

    Yes its cheaper than the extortionate renting costs however there are so many downsides & parking is a nightmare.
    Councils don't like people who live in camper vans or motorhomes & personally i miss all the things of a flat or house.

    I think what everybody forgets is anything on wheels will loose money over the years however well its looked after then it needs replacement, whilst bricks & morter increase in value over the years, Its knowing the secret of keeping a monthly fund for when that day comes to buy another.

      Any house of a half-decent size in the UK will cost you anything from £2000 to £4850 per year just in council tax. Then add water rates on top. Then add electric costs vs. those who have a good solar install. Then add many thousands of pounds for replacing broken GCH boilers, replacing roofs and all the other standard house ownership maintenance costs. Oh and unless you're rich enough to afford a detached place in the middle of nowhere, a new set of chav or DSS neighbours could ruin your life. You don't have any of those problems living in a motorhome. There are pros and cons to both lifestyles.

    We have been full time for 8 months or more now. We were ok during lock down and we stayed local to family but we are in scotland now. Our hardest job is laundry for sure, public loos (the Scots must have bladders like fortresses) and LPG is here but Gleaner garages will not let you fill a safe fill bottle! We travelled over 100 miles to get some. The worst thing for me is not having a bath and sometimes I worry about where we sleep to the point I sit up on meerkat duty all night. Being together in a small space rarely bothers us though. We like that. Oh and our biggest headache currently is running out of money.

    I always wonder why these kind of blogs never talk about the really worst bits, as in if you are wilding full time or even most of the time where does your water come from and where does the toilet go?

  • @flyingfox7252

    Kat I’ve discovered your RUclips blogs and I’m finding your insights and tips invaluable. My wife and I have purchased our MH in France and we arrive in March 2022 from Australia 🇦🇺 and plan to tour for at least 12 months. My question relates to Covid Lockdowns. Have you or Tash found yourselves caught by a lockdown whilst abroad?
    Ian and Liz 🇦🇺

    • @WanderingBird
      @WanderingBird  2 года назад

      Tash hasn’t been abroad in their van yet but did get caught out during the UK lockdown. I got caught in France both times. If you’re anxious about getting home you’ll need to watch the news daily and act fast to get flights, but honestly many countries in Europe are doing pretty well with vaccinations so you’ll hopefully be absolutely fine.

    Worst thing is the attitude towards us and the lack of water and drop points. To go fulltime I would want a caravan on the back to hide out when needing self space.

    Hi, I am new to your channel. We have previously owned a campervan and did have some lovely adventures in the UK and France, with 2 big dogs 🤣...anyway, having sold this as it really was too small for the hubby, we are looking for a motorhome but cannot afford a new one..(currently cutting back on everything to save more money) where would you recommend that we searched for a second hand motorhome? We know our requirements but what should we look out for..age? repairs? what should we avoid? and so fourth.

      @@WanderingBird I think Pedro is referring to the "Hab check".. which is short for Habitation check.. like an anuual maintenance check on your motorhome, they check gas, electrical systems, damp etc etc...
