harry had a real ‘i made it’ moment singing this song recently at wembley stadium 18/06. highly recommended that performance, it’s incredible. i was at the show the next night at it’s just such an amazing song live
That song is quite heartbreaking. In an interview for Rolling Stone, Harry Styles said: “Most of the stuff that hurts me about what’s going on at the moment is not politics, it’s fundamentals. Equal rights. For everyone, all races, sexes, everything. ’Sign of the Times’ came from ‘This isn’t the first time we’ve been in a hard time, and it’s not going to be the last time.’ The song is written from a point of view as if a mother was giving birth to a child and there’s a complication. The mother is told, ‘The child is fine, but you’re not going to make it.’ The mother has five minutes to tell the child, ‘Go forth and conquer.'”
Great reaction video. I like your style. I started listening to HS in 2020 after hearing him sing with James Corden during a carpool karaoke. Harry writes lyrics and melodies that he loves and has repeatedly said he is grateful his fans are willing to go on a journey with him...not expecting him to put out the same type of album again and again. Harry's first album wasn't considered a 'radio play' album. His 2nd album, Fine Line, was made with Harry feeling the pressure to make music that would get airplay...and Fine Line did just that, and is fabulous. It is broken into four parts...taking the listener on an emotional journey of a love relationship that ended in heartbreak for Styles. Harry's House, his most recent album, is (per Harry) less about powerful vocals and more about making the music he really wanted to make during the pandemic. Styles didn't feel like he needed to write an album full of power vocals this time around. He told Zane Lowe "This time around I wanted to just make music, and I stop [like] singing. I used to feel like "oh, I'm a singer, so I should be singing everything...so I would try so hard to just sing. Okay [Harry] you are going to sing the chorus so you have better fucking sing it.'. Harry's house is about playing around with vocals and different styles of music...and writing music that sounds amazing in concert...adding a brass section to his talented long-time band. Sarah Jones on drums (Harry always says he is just the lead man of Sarah's band because the first thing people say to him after a concert is always "The drummer is AMAZING!", Harrys dear friend Mitch Rowland on guitar(the two met when Harry was writing his first album. As luck would have it, the scheduled guitarist didn't show up and Mitch was called in. He was working in a pizza shop at the time. Fate and talent brought the two men together and the rest is history. Mitch is a major writing contributor to many of the songs on Styles' first two albums. Ny Oh is an amazing backing vocalist and pianist. Ny has a voice that stands out...and she, along with Sarah and Elin (bass guitar) are known for their harmonies with Harry. Pauli Lovejoy is the percussionist that brings as much energy to the stage as Harry. I tend to do a "deep dive" into musicians and authors I enjoy. The Covid lockdown allowed me the time to learn (probably) way too much about HS music and several other artists I've found via carpool karaoke. I'm looking at you, Billie eilish, Lizzo, Ed Sheeran, etc.
Great reaction! I have been trying to convince my father to listen to Harry's music for years, but unfortunately he’s a big snob when it comes to pop music 🤣 I highly recommend his performance of “Sign of the Times” live at Graham Norton. He always sounds better live :)
Harry wrote this song. He writes all of the songs he records. This was his first single from his first solo album and it was a hit. Harry is a real musician and he’s just a poet when it comes to his lyrics. He was born to be a superstar! At this time he’s breaking records with his music. He’s multitalented, I could go on and on about Harry he’s so impressive. He’s just such a humble and kind person. I know I sound like a teen but I’ll be 74 this month so I should have some credibility!😁
Good reaction. My only comment is Harry Styles is ALWAYS better live than the studio version.
yeah, ive noticed that !
