I've had a lot of issues with coated flints in IMCO lighters. The coatings seem to reduce the amount of sparks you get, and this can affect their reliability in wind or in damp conditions. I never have any problems with standard silver IMCO flints, which have no coating as far as I can tell.
I used the Ronson red flints in one of my zippos for 2 years and now the flint wheel is smooth as a baby’s bottom lol. Doesn’t spark at all. So they definitely are harder than the zippo flints
Hey man I know you like non filter cigarettes as do I. You should try American Spirit Browns. They’re probably my favorite non filter cigarette. They’re a slow burner too so it lasts about 15 minutes for me

My source when I lived in Wilkesboro was one kinky tobacco shop that carried them still and would order them for me upon request , since moving back to Boone tho I have yet to find an affordable price on non filtered lucky strikes , in fact when I go back to Wilkesboro to visit I may buy a couple cartons of them
My best advice would be any and all tobacco stores in your area I would ask them if they can even order them , for instance the gas station I worked at for a short period of time , they where the only ones who could order Paul mall non filtered cigarettes but then after ordering them stopped carrying RJ Reynolds products so they can’t get them anymore but I got them for 1.99 a pack once they got rid of RJ products
You do realize that you can just slide up the "flame adjuster" on the outside of the fuel cylinder of it's windy, right ?? I feel like you building a mountain, out of a mole hill, for no reason at all. I'm guessing you don't even know that thing slides up & down to increase/decrease oxygen flow.

I'm corona flints are soft, saving the life of the spark wheel.
I’ve seen bags of red ones on ebay but didn’t know if they would be any good or not

Red coated ones are good as they don’t solidify in the flint tube as easy as uncoated ones do
My cheap imco flint and baccon cotton works fine. Every whack gives me a flame!
u should try the sparkr insert for the zippo its a plasma arc lighter i wanted to know if it works in a bowl

Are the gold ones harder? I'm having a problem with my 6600 rotating against the gold flint.
Actually there softer but imcos just don’t work well with zippo flints for some reason
My 6700 cheap imco China copy look alike works perfectly fine with crap flint and cheap lighter fluid. Put in my safety survival sack. No qualms!
