This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my RUclips channel 9 months ago about self development. Now I have 1,755 subs and > 1k hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

Jules, as a single mom of two kids running a business, let me just tell you that the best money I spend every week is sending the laundry out. There is a service where I live that picks up my laundry on Wednesdays from the front porch and brings it back on Thursdays and all I have to do is put it away. HIGHLY recommend, especially if you're growing your family. You will still have things you'll need to wash in the interim, but it's so much more manageable to basically give someone else the responsibility for it for $50-75 a week.

Another laundry tip: My husband refuses to use a laundry basket. He folds his clothes on top of the dryer and immediately puts them up from there. It works! My clothes are always sitting in the basket for days while his are already on hangers or in drawers! Both efficient and effective!

my word of the year is persistence. in the past I've kind of forces myself into toxic hustle culture that centers around words like "discipline" and "hustle" but they never really resonated with me until recently. This past year I developed a really bad personal narrative that I'm lazy and inconsistent when I am not that way at all! I am actually very persistent and have discovered a new side of me that has no choice but to achieve whatever I've set my mind to.

This is my first time in a Director position and with the new company I’ve been with for almost a year now, I can say on average ive only worked 3-5 hrs per day, no more. I’m now entering 2024 with a promotion to executive Director of the org and it’s all due to how organized and efficient I’ve become w my time. Excited for you!

Setting goals for 2024 feels both exciting and distressing for me. 2023 was a year of crippling illness and constant visits to the doctor to get answers that felt like they were never coming. This experience, and because it was the culmination of 20 years of chronic health issues building up to it, has made me extremely hesitant to create goals for, or even look too far into the future. Setting goals was a sure way to feel like a failure, because my health always got in the way...but a week ago I finally found answers and treatment! While I can't help but be cautiously optimistic, I feel like I can set at least a few goals and always add on from there. My theme for this year is "Simple one step at a time", reminding myself that its okay to take things at my own pace and to not compare my progress and achievements to anyone else. So I will plan my year slowly and simply and allow it to develop as my health improves and I learn what living life with wellness looks like for the first time in 20 years. THANK YOU for being an inspiration for the type of life I can create for myself and showing up authentically and intentionally in a space where that can be hard to find. Your content has been a little respite for me for the past month that I discovered you and I can't wait to continue to come here for inspiration and calm in 2024!

Girl, why did we have the same 2023 exactly down to the health situation. I FINALLY got answers to my health this year after 5 years of limbo and I’m finally doing better but I am also terrified of setting goals out of fear that I would get sick again and not accomplish anything and add to my crippling self doubt. I haven’t talked about this with anyone so I am so grateful you wrote your comment. It made me feel less alone. Thank you, and I wish you the best on your journey 💗

We hosted a front yard happy hour for our neighbors and it was a blast! We kept it simple, told people we’d have sparkling water and one cocktail, and that we’d put out whatever chairs we had. Our neighborhood has a FB page, and we posted a general invite there, and had about 25 people come through. Also, one night I was out walking with my husband and some neighbors were in their yard, and just called us over to sit with them!

My word for 2024 will be: action. I really resonated what you said in the beginning about wanting to be in the drivers seat of your life…I find it really easy to slip into being a passenger to your life & letting life pass you by. I struggle with the consistency of checking in & following through with my goals…but I’m hopeful I can change that in 2024 ❤

Just a thought: Jules I bucked and fought everyones suggestion of getting another THING and everyone was trying to convince me to get an air fryer. Well someone bought me one for christmas and I love it - I have not used the oven except one lazy night to heat a pizza. I use way less energy - it is so easy to clean and cook almost anything in - yes most things seem to take 10-20 minutes! And it is so much healthier with the small amount of oil I use now. It is really helping my health and giving me more time to do the things I love doing :)

I loooooove this. Can I just say that I was the exact same with laundry and so one day I timed myself on a regular load of laundry that had all the things (pj's, lounge wear, athleisure, work uniforms). Literally took me 7 min to fold AND put away. I thought why have I been fussing about less than 10 minutes to do something?! So time yourself, you may be surprised how little time it takes you. I get it, if you have multiple loads that time adds up, but that's why it's so much easier for me to do a load or two every other day or so instead of dedicating one day to do it all. xoxo

Sorry another thought - chores... It was my biggest struggle for years, now all my friends are so jealous how I manage a clean house and have no stress about it and I had serious mental illness issues about it before - I let go - I rotate and give grace if it is not that week. I daily do a 15 min declutter and throw dishes in dish washer and wipe counters as needed. I weekly do laundry (or biweekly... and I do on a day I am in house - load in before work, take out and switch at lunch and same after work and put away that evening - so not daunting then!) and I rotate all other chores between week 1)dust and floors (dust settles downwards) and paperwork 2)kitchen (including any appliances need deep clean) 3)bathroom, bedroom and office (2nd two only needs quick tidy but get deep clean - see later) 4)predetermined bi-annual chores assigned to month - I figure big projects need done in year, assign usually twice to various months so every month more or less has two things - might be as simple as lights or baseboards. I let it go if it is not that week - if it really bothers me it fits into my 15 min declutter otherwise - let it go!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope this helps some who is struggling :)

I noticed myself doing the same thing with my laundry. I would do the laundry, but would never put it up and just grab it from the baskets. I tried fighting it but it never stuck. So I ended up just working with it! I have two laundry baskets, one for pants and one for shirts. Same for hampers, so when I wash them, they’re already organized. Then I just put the cute baskets I bought under my bed (I have a 18” platform bed, so the closet would work for anyone who doesn’t have that) and it’s the most “organized” and consistent iv been with my clothes 🤗 also everything else I just throw in which hamper it closely relates to and put it in a separate basket lol

Regarding your question about cooking, we are often our own harshest critics. A dish can be of restaurant quality but we will still find a flaw. Focus on mastering a few simple dishes and try them several times before inviting people over. It can help if the dishes are from the same kind of cuisine as they'll typically use similar ingredients or will go together if you're planning a feast. Good luck!

Sometimes it's overwhelming to dump a giant pile of laundry out to fold and put away. I put mine in the wash before bed and into the dryer as soon as I get up so it's done and put away before I leave for work.

Hello Jules! I would recommend Pick Up Limes if you're looking for healthy meals that come together and have plating suggestions for presentation (:

Love this! I think my word of the year will be health: to focus on my personal health & the health of my business. 😁
As for your recipes question, try the recipe books (&/or website) from Brittany Williams with her Instant Pot as the device of choice for many of them. They're fast, simple & easy, and actually really good & flavorful; we use them ALL the time (just subbing out some ingredients here or there) for meals like roast beef stew, pineapple chicken, and chicken tortilla soup, to name a few -- and for the oven some of our favorites are her recipes from her website's blog for jalapeño lime stuffed bell peppers, and lasagna. From there you can only get more confident & start to try some things yourself. You got this! 😃

I love the cookbook Cook This Book by Molly Baz -- some of the stuff is definitely party worthy

Hi jules! Love your video as always! (Im one of ur new subscriber this year 🫶🏼)
P/s; you can try to warm-up with your neighbour by sending cookies/cake/bread/souvenir (anything as a thought) to them. Like “hi, i made some extra buttercake, and want to give some to you” 😆. Maybe can try to do once a month first, then from there see how it goes 🫶🏼.

My word of the year is 'EXPLORE'! I purchased the notion pack and have been loving it! I have a question about the weekly planning page. How do you use this page as each week finishes and starts? Do you use the same page every week by deleting what you've written, or do you duplicate the page?

I couldn’t wait for this video! I got the design your year template last year and used it all year ❤. I do have one question, so I duplicated my 2023 Yearly Plans and goals but how do I update the database to start fresh for 2024? Thank you!!

As you speak, your washer or dryer should be working. Before you go on a walk, or spend 30 minutes on figuring out when to fold laundry via computer, fold and put away laundry, do it first. Make it a habit to do laundry several times a week to keep up. Thanks for great tips!
